I am feeling a lot better than I was, now Fizzy. Just got to get rid of this cough.

I'm more worried dd2 has caught it- and she is supposed to be off to watch Frozen 2 with the Brownies on Sunday. So it will be sad if she can't go mainly because at some point, I will have to take her Grin

PrivateSpidey · 12/12/2019 20:22

Glad you are both feeling a bit better. There were loads of people coughing and spluttering around me on the train today - probably inevitable I will catch it.

Re Delpo yes, he probably could turn it round quite quickly if he gets a few wins racked up, but it must be feeling like Groundhog Day for him. Still, better than the alternative shut up AC Xmas Angry

In case it's just me who's bearing that particular grudge against AC Grin I mean when he said "That's got I be it, surely" when Delpo got injured at Queen's.

Huh. What does he know anyway??

He knows nothing private
(Said in a Manuel accent, a la "I know nuthiiiing") Xmas Grin

Fizzywinegum · 14/12/2019 21:53

It’s a bit quiet on here - I’m missing the tennis and the chat.

Hope your DD managed to get to see Frozen 2 Raahh - DH is carrying out his promise and watching Love Actually Xmas Hmm

Not sure whether to watch the tennis film tomorrow night - I’m still not convinced about Shia Laboef playing Mac.

Has anyone got any pictures of tennis players in Christmas jumpers yet? (Hopeful)

magimedi · 14/12/2019 22:25

It's very quiet - I think some of us are reeling from the election result.

I have no tennis players in jumpers .............. I could offer you an (almost) naked AC but i don't think that would be appreciated!!

PrivateSpidey · 14/12/2019 23:11

magi you're right there - aren't you going to delete that pic anyway?! Should we stage an intervention? Grin

I am definitely still reeling from Thursday. I stayed up until about 2am and then couldn't take any more Sad I am still shattered tbh, and am now sick of reading think pieces on the election. I saw Jess Phillips saying she just wanted to go home and put her Christmas tree up - don't blame her.

Our tree is bought but not actually in place. It usually takes me a few days to drum up the energy to get round to it...

Fizzy I have seen no tennis players in Christmas jumpers yet - very poor. I'd expect Stan to have come up trumps by now but no. Disappointing. But - there's still time...

I have done absolutely nothing Christmassy yet.

I see Francesca Schiavone has been having chemo Sad

PrivateSpidey · 14/12/2019 23:39

Yes I saw that Jane - really awful for her Sad

The only info I could see was in Italian though so I didn't really get the full gist. Really hope she will be ok.

Morning all
Sadly dd2 is feeling pretty rough today, and it wouldn't be fair to send her to sit and cough in a cinema ( though she wouldn't be the only one, I'm sure).

I have nothing tennis related to offer. GrinI still feel quite rubbish but it isgetting better.

I have watched back to back rubbish Christmas films for daysGrin so yesterday, I watched 'Elf'. Might treat myself and watch Polar Express later ( the theme song makes me cry).

Grin
Fizzywinegum · 15/12/2019 07:45

I think I’ll pass on the semi naked AC pic thanks magi Grin

I didn’t really want to mention the result on Thursday - I think I’m in denial. Me and DS1 had to watch a few episodes of Father Ted to distract ourselves on Thursday night.

That is sad news about Schiavone Jane - I hope everything works out ok for her

I do like Elf - we’re off to watch some carols in a cave later on - luckily it’s not underground but can get a bit cold.

Hope you and DD feel better soon Raahh I’ve still got a bit of a lingering lurgy

Good luck with the tree Spidey - it took about a week for ours to get done!

Raahh · 15/12/2019 19:36

I'm watching SPOTY. It always makes me cry.

Princess Anne is on now. I love Princess Anne.

kazzaD66 · 15/12/2019 19:44

I've not bothered to watch it this year Raahh. I always used to but now it's just got too tedious. And I don't really like Clare Balding, Gabby Logan other Gary Lineker.
Oh, for the days of Des Lynam Grin

Why is Princess Anne on?
Yes, she is great!

Raahh · 15/12/2019 19:48

kazza it was lovely actually, ahe was there as she has something to do with Rugby, and patron of an MND charity- the award went to Scottish rugby player , Doddie Weir, who has MND. He has raised £5 million for charities.

The tennis segment was short this year- very brief mention of Wimbledon, of course, Murray and Serena, Konta....and no one else.

Raahh · 15/12/2019 19:51

But I miss Les too Grin. And Sue Barker presenting it. I don't mind Gabby or Claire, actually, but I find Gary Lineker smarmier by the year Grin.

I really want KJT to win- she seems sound Grin(for a Scouser).

kazzaD66 · 15/12/2019 19:52

Aahh, Dodie Weir is lovely.
For some reason, it always affects me more when a professional sports person, for example, is struck down with an illness. I suppose it's because the change is so stark because they were supremely fit before.
A bit like Jonah Lomu.

Raahh · 15/12/2019 19:57

kazza I agree- I knew nothing much about him (dh did) , but just looking at him before and after, and the fact he has just carried on knowing what could happen (I worked with someone who died within 12 months of diagnosis, from no real symptom, it was a massive shock), is inspirational. It's a word that gets chucked around, but I watched him and thought he was a funny, brave man.

Raahh · 15/12/2019 20:02

Ooh, Rafa got a mention.

PrivateSpidey · 15/12/2019 20:04

We are watching Elf so haven't seen any of Spoty. Agree re Princess Anne and Dodie Weir though - Dodie is amazing.

Hope your DD is on the mend Raahh

I managed to put the tree up, untangled all the lights, put all the ornaments on, hoovered up the needles. Went to make a cup of tea, heard a massive crash - came back in and the whole thing had toppled over, decorations and needles were everywhere. A few choice words may have been uttered Xmas Grin

Spidey Grin

oh dear. Hope the tree is ok!

DD2 is ok, thank you, still coughing up a lung, but in ok spirits. I will see how she she is tomorrow. She wasn't fussed about missing Frozen- we will all go later (we usually end up going to the cinema over Christmas).

Raahh · 15/12/2019 20:11

My dog uses the lowe banches of our tree (which is fortunately artificial) as a scratching post. Likes having his back scatched, and has found the tree does the trick.

The tree is 20 years old, and can't really afford to lose any more 'needles'.

Grin
Fizzywinegum · 15/12/2019 20:27

Eek Spidey hope your tree is ok!

I saw that Rafa got a brief mention on SPOTY.

Must admit Gabby, Claire and Gary Linekar aren’t my favourites kazza

I’d like Dina Asher Smith to win but DH thinks it will be Ben Stokes (cricket, yawn)

Raahh · 15/12/2019 20:42
Shock

shows how much they care at the Beeb about players who are not Fed or Murray- they just mentioned the US open and called Medvedev , Dimitri. Hmm

Raahh · 15/12/2019 20:46

I do cry at the obituary bit. Blush.

Raahh · 15/12/2019 21:04

I'm gladDina got 3rd, Lewis has got 2nd- I really want KJT to win.
