How are you doing Raahh?? Brew

I've just been watching a clip of Federer crying after the exhibition match v Zverev was cancelled in Bogota - and Sascha comforting him! As if Sascha doesn't have enough to do - especially at this time of year!

I think a documentary about it was made for an American TV channel - not sure if it'll make its way to us.

I'm fine, Spidey I am not getting very far with Christmas though. I can't bring myself to do the wrapping.

I do feel like a taxi though- i seem to have spent all my time ferrying various off spring around.

Raahh · 19/12/2019 12:27

And what a wuss- why was Federer crying?? Mind you he does cry a lot.

kazzaD66 · 19/12/2019 12:38

Yes, I was going to ask why Fed was crying. Maybe he was worried that he wouldn't get paid for the cancelled match Hmm
Poor love must be down to his last £100m Xmas Grin

Glad you're feeling a bit better Raahh

PrivateSpidey · 19/12/2019 13:47

Poor love must be down to his last £100m

Xmas Grin - well it is the season for thinking of those less fortunate after all Xmas Grin

Here's a link to an article about it Federer

Apparently he said he was "emotionally wasted" by the decision to cancel - not sure why...

I see Rafa and Djok are larking about in Dubai (I think it's Dubai anyway) at the mo - I hope Rafa doesn't get roped into any more dance-offs! Xmas Grin

Rafa won the ATP sportsmanship award!! Wowee. And also yay!

Murray was the comeback player and Berrettini was most improved (called it - sort of Xmas Grin). What does Medvedev have to do to win that though?!

kazzaD66 · 19/12/2019 16:00

So Fed was emotionally wasted.
Ffs, he really has lost his grip on reality!
He really has no idea about RL if a cancelled tennis match is all he has to worry about!
Prat!

And why do people cry when they see him?
It's not the Second Coming Hmm

Rant over.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Peace and goodwill to all men (even Swiss tennis players.....)
Xmas Grin

Raahh · 19/12/2019 16:07

Hurrah for Rafa! Tennis

Raahh · 19/12/2019 16:26

(Of course Fed won the fans favourite award- again. He will probably cry).

Grin
PrivateSpidey · 19/12/2019 16:57

Xmas Grin i know, emotionally wasted was quite strong, lost in translation perhaps??!

He'll be winning the Fan Favourite even after he's retired Hmm

I'm feeling a bit emotionally wasted myself ATM Xmas Grin I've left myself too much to do and not enough time to do it, as per usual. I need Sascha to come and help me!!

OP posts:
Raahh · 19/12/2019 17:00

I could do with a SaschaGrin

I have finally wrapped presents, well most of them. I need to find time to go and get the food shopping, but I am not really in the mood for fighting through the hoardes of people fighting over sprouts. I don't want to do it Christmas eve, either Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 19/12/2019 17:09

Yay for Rafa Xmas Smile

I don’t really understand why roger got so emotional about a cancelled exhibition match - if they cancelled the Wimbledon final then fair enough Xmas Hmm

I’m not buying any more presents but seem to keep buying more and more food - can’t wait for the shops to shut so I can stop buying things!

Town was a bit manic today and I’ve still got a lingering lurgy that I’ve had for about the last six weeks.

Last day at work tomorrow until after the New Year - can’t wait! I keep thinking about watching The Holiday (still feeling a bit Grinchy!)

PrivateSpidey · 19/12/2019 17:39

if they cancelled the Wimbledon final then fair enough

Xmas Grin imagine!! "Sorry, cancelled!" Fed fanatics would never get over it. But yes I'm not sure why he was so upset about an exhibition - it did say it was right at the last minute, they'd even already had the warm up (which also seems weird)... But still...

Well done with your festive prep Fizzy and Raahh

Saturday is my day to get remaining stuff sorted while DS is at a friend's house, but I also need to do food shopping and just CBA. I was reading a thread on here recently saying there are loads of bargains to be had late on Christmas Eve (evening-ish) but the thought of waiting until then brings me out in a cold sweat!! Good idea if you were brave enough though (I'm not)!

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 19/12/2019 17:40

Fizzy watching The Holiday will surely banish the lurgy for good!! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 19/12/2019 18:13

I’m thinking The Holiday and a large gin might banish the lurgy Private Xmas Grin. Must remember that I still need to go to work tomorrow! (Might have peaked too early)

Hope you manage to get everything done on Saturday - I wouldn’t dare leave everything until Christmas Eve Xmas Shock.

I also can’t bear crowded shops - wouldn’t fancy having to fight someone for the last remaining turkey Xmas Grin

Fizzywinegum · 19/12/2019 18:17

Peace and goodwill to all men kazza - does that include you know who??

Did you get your tree decorated Jane?

Raahh I could also do with a Sascha for Christmas - he would probably get bored halfway through peeling the sprouts though (especially now he’s got a new girlfriend) Xmas Grin

Mama1980 · 19/12/2019 18:25

Hi all, had a bit of a break from Mumsnet, but back know and looking forward to January tennis Smile
Yay Rafa!

Fizzywinegum · 19/12/2019 19:00

Hello mama I’m also looking forward to some January tennis - it seems ages since I watched any - it’s looking a bit hot in Australia already though.

Starksforthewin · 19/12/2019 19:22

Why the spite on here about Federer? It’s utterly mean spirited. All of the top players cry, for the same reasons other human beings cry.

The South American tour has been many years in the planning, and fans in that region absolutely worship Federer. He was distraught that the curfew was called just before the match disappointing tens of thousands of people who were looking for respite from their not so great existence in a troubled country.

The lack of respect is troubling, given the hagiography which underpins posts about Nadal.

Fed has just won the Fans Favourite Award for the 17th time in a row. The last few years his percentage of the vote was greater than all other players added together.

It’s a pity that this thread seems only to accommodate Fed haters and Nadal fan girls. Everyone has a preference. I like Nadal, dislike Djokovic etc etc.

Plus if you think Federer is travelling the world at the age of 38 for money, you are seriously deluded. He already has enough money for ten lifetimes as do the other top players. Exhibitions earnings go to his Foundation, which has helped a million African children already.

PrivateSpidey · 19/12/2019 19:27

Blimey.

Fizzywinegum · 19/12/2019 19:36

I’ve never thought of myself as as a Rafa fan girl before!

Raahh · 19/12/2019 19:38

I'm 48 next week- been a while since I've called myself a girl Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 19/12/2019 19:39

I’m 50! Xmas Grin
