Placemarking with a sardine and coffee foam.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/11/2019 14:05

Thank you for the new thread Romaine. I still don't have any Internet after the fuckers turned off our service. I've had to buy more data. DH is on the phone to the bastards right now.

I liked all the chefs on Thursday's show.

booksandcaffeine · 24/11/2019 18:24

I don't get why Greggs is one of the judges on this.. Marcus and Monica are perfectly fine by themselves.

Katinski · 24/11/2019 18:35

Gregg - the one who knows sod-all about cooking (or at least, how to make a roux?)and whose taste buds only register the ultra sweet?..only reason I could come up with is that he supplies all the fruit and veg for the show at cost, cos I'm damned if I can think of any other reasonAngry

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 18:36

I like Gregg.

Thisnamechanger · 24/11/2019 18:39

Gregg is a nasty piece of work.

Beveren · 26/11/2019 00:31

OMG, have we clocked the horror that is Gregggg turning up on Richard Osman's House of Games?

LaMarschallin · 26/11/2019 08:49

Beveren

Ohhh yes....

Actually, he surprised me by doing a bit better than I expected (he was dreadful on celebrity Impossible).
And - cringes in anticipation - he seemed well... less dislikeable than on Masterchef.

I often take agin people on quiz shows (eg teams on Eggheads who only want sport - well, football really; music but only from their own era, and films and television they've seen, and who audibly groan or, worse, laugh with disbelief if expected to know about eg literature or politics).
But I think I'd have felt fairly neutral about Gregg on HOG if I didn't keep having flashbacks to roars of "FLAVOURS!", "TIME'S UP!" and "LARVLEE PUDDING!".

Anyway, sorry for the rant. It's a Masterchef thread.
My favourite skills test ever was one where they had to make an individual tartlet in a loose bottomed flan tin. Every one turned it out by inverting the tin and dropping the tart into their other hand causing the tart to fall apart.

Nothing to beat that this time (although the all-in-one risotto method was interesting).

BertrandRussell · 26/11/2019 08:58

As a Gregg fan, he said something on House of Games which made me think for the first time “Oh, maybe you are a bit of a git”!

Halsall · 26/11/2019 19:35

He seems rather disgruntled by other contestants doing better than him on HoG...... Hmm

PotterHead1985 · 26/11/2019 19:44

What's this programme you speak of??

fourquenelles · 26/11/2019 19:53

Checking in. Caught D&V at my little theatre on Saturday so still feeling like shite. Here's hoping that thoughts of Jay eating sorbet in his underpants get me through the sardine/coffee fusion

PotterHead1985 · 26/11/2019 19:55

@fourquenelles I'm with ya sister. Think I've a nasty dose of it too Sad

PotterHead1985 · 26/11/2019 20:02

Wimminz

fourquenelles · 26/11/2019 20:02

There's a lot of it about

CrimsonCattery · 26/11/2019 20:03

Checking in. Is it new ones again tonight?

PotterHead1985 · 26/11/2019 20:03

That's not easy Mon

Wolfcub · 26/11/2019 20:04

Evening all I predict thus test will be a shocker

PotterHead1985 · 26/11/2019 20:04

Lot of waste in an artichoke. Apart from for compost is there anything you can do with it??

RomaineCalm · 26/11/2019 20:04

Checking in. This is the last week of heats, it seems to have gone really quickly.

Fourq and Potter - hope that you start feeling better. Please wash your hands before joining this thread! Grin

Vegan mayo?

fourquenelles · 26/11/2019 20:05

Yes Mam Romaine

Halsall · 26/11/2019 20:05

Potter it's a silly games show at 6pm with Richard Osman setting not-very-serious challenges for a group of 4 people. Can be quite amusyif the group gells well. Comedians usually do well. Greggggggg isn't coming over as especially sparkling, I would say.

On another note: aquafaba AGAIN?

littlbrowndog · 26/11/2019 20:05

I thought you could suck the stuff from bottom of leaf things 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

CrimsonCattery · 26/11/2019 20:05

Greggg with a mouthful of hairy fibre.

What a thought Sad
