I know Numbers - I just rewatched it and she says ‘I’m so disappointed in myself’ and he agrees! He tries to jolly her along afterwards but he comes off as very frustrated with her IMHO

Encyclo · 17/11/2019 23:33

She responded to JJ's tweet had a conversation with him and finished by asking him to @ her when he spoke about her. That's all as far as I could see.

Then he reacted and sent out a separate tweet.

Ok I'm not Michelle Visage. I don't know why I'm defending her, I didn't even like the damn dance!

JemimaTab · 17/11/2019 23:33

Yeah, that “message” business was a bit misjudged. TBH I think Johannes doing the most camp dance ever in high heels (or for that matter dancing with Graziano) had much more impact.

This has reminded me that, when Michelle did Celebrity Big Brother a few years back, the persona she was projecting was very much as the self-appointed Mother Of All The Gays. It played quite oddly and even then seemed quite old-fashioned / patronising, but I put it down to her being American and not appreciating that the UK is probably a bit more laid back on the issue.

JemimaTab · 17/11/2019 23:37

Oh and I agree that not everyone will have understood the vogue reference. Lots of people will just think Madonna and won’t necessarily be aware of the NYC ball culture (not everyone will have seen Pose or Paris Is Burning) so some of its impact will have been lost. I reckon a fair few people will just think she was doing Madonna cosplay.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/11/2019 00:32

I liked Saffron's dance. And music. It's rare to hear a bit of Noel Cowerd these days! I did think Michelle could have made more of the vogueing in a less restrictive costume - it is a pity that it was recycled from a DWTS routine rather than being fresh and choreographed especially for her. She was fierce and I think danced what little content there was well, but the choreography let her down.

NumbersStation · 18/11/2019 00:38

Honest question, for I am an old gimmer. Why do you have to @ someone when you speak of them? Is it twittetiquette?

I don’t think he wrote anything bad at all. Why would you want to read every tweet in the world about you?

I’m not getting it but to me it was a teeny bit odd.

I like micheface. Like many others, I didn’t think this showed Miche off to her best. Bit of a shame is all.

Horsemad · 18/11/2019 00:50

Does it tag them Numbers? I'm not on Twitter, so not sure my answer is correct!

Re MV - I think we all knew how much she loves herself. 🙂
Some people are sore losers...

NumbersStation · 18/11/2019 01:08

@Horsemad

Thank you. I probably shouldn’t be let near most forms of technology. Grin

I’m all for supporting your community etc. Hurrah for that.

But the only agenda for Strictly should be learning to dance and feeling the joy of that.

Which is why Chris and Karen are being kept in.

If Mike had been dancing off with MV today I reckon he’d have won by just moving his feet.

I’m not saying she didn’t dance but as Shirl said, it was all about the arms.

I’d have put sooty and sweep on each hand. In sequin t-shirts. And making their paws vogue if I could dance mainly with arms.

But I’m not on strictly and now neither is jv/mv.

And that is a shame.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/11/2019 01:11

My (gay male) friend from dancing was texting me while watching it, and his comment was "wrong type of ballroom Michelle". Grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/11/2019 01:25

Oh, the reason I mentioned he was gay was because he's in the group of voters she was going for and he basically said "voguing is American-gay, not British-gay, I don't feel any particular connection to it. The dance wasn't good enough to make me want to vote for her anyway."

MaggieFS · 18/11/2019 05:56

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams That's Interesting - perhaps that's the nub of it.

I'm off the check James Jordan's Twitter before DS awakes!

MaggieFS · 18/11/2019 06:04

Ok, got distracted by the AJ instagram first. It is a bit odd because he says 'As a professional teacher you missed one hop' which is fair as factually correct, but as pp has said, when she's said I'm so annoyed with myself and he agreed 'yeah I'm so annoyed too' wow - that's harsh! But he then goes on to be positive. Weird.

MaggieFS · 18/11/2019 06:18

Michelle getting pissy about JJ'a tweets from the dance off is funny because he's saying what a lot of us have said I.e. not a great dance but she is a great dancer.

However, going further back he called her out for fake tears at the end of her dance on Saturday which she reacted to, so I suspect she either didn't read all of his comments or had already decided he was against her. Ridiculous spat!

Womenwotlunch · 18/11/2019 06:27

Totally agree with @OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg
Tbh, Michelle annoyed me with her whole representing the LGBT community
As part of my job, I have fought for LGBT rights.,However, I found Michelle’s holier than thou attitude slightly grating.
When she was in BB she appointed herself the defender of LGBT rights which irked me.
For her to post something whereby someone suggested that the two gay judges should have voted for her because of what she represents is ridiculous.
Furthermore, I am sick to death of the stereotyping of Vogueing as being linked to the gay community.
I have supported Michelle, but her ‘dance’ was rubbish and she deserved to go

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 18/11/2019 06:55

When you consider that the pro most Strictly fans - on here, on DS, in comments on Monkseal’s blog, on Twitter - are vocal about loving, wanting to keep, wanting to have a ringer next year, watching out for in pro group dances etc is an openly gay (and camp with it) black South African, I don’t think Michelle has too much to tell us or the show about inclusivity and gay rights TBH.

In fact given the BBC’s flagship weekend entertainment show is presented by two women and its weekday companion show was presented by a solo woman for well over a decade, perhaps the show could teach Michelle’s “community” a little bit about respecting women (thinking particularly of drag artists here, not gay people in general).

Theromanempire · 18/11/2019 07:01

I think its clear that this Vogue thing is much bigger in Shell Face's head than it is in the UK. I have never heard of it being particularly linked to the gay community so maybe it is an American thing?

She misjudged it's importance, there was not enough dance content - the decision was fair. She needs to get over it and move on Wink

ITT will be interesting tonight - unless she can't make it and that's why she had her best bits shown yesterday?

iklboo · 18/11/2019 07:18

This has reminded me that, when Michelle did Celebrity Big Brother a few years back, the persona she was projecting was very much as the self-appointed Mother Of All The Gays.

Mother of Drag-ones

Candle1000 · 18/11/2019 07:24

The thing that Shell has forgotten is that strictly is a light entertainment show , not a LGBT rally .

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail · 18/11/2019 07:37

Ah, people should self impose a 12 hour social media ban while they’re coming down from planet strictly. That’s all very sour grapes. She didn’t even take on Craig’s feedback about the rotating your hand round your face - she was still flapping in the DO. Shame as she’s good but at this point they’re all good glosses over chris

I think ppl are being too harsh about saffron. The tears seems genuine and she was trying to hide them. This stuff does matter when you’re doing it. No one likes to be last. Times that up to live TV and millions of viewers and I think we can cut her some slack!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 18/11/2019 07:42

Saffron is a young girl who had to deal with people not voting for her. I think I can get why she cried.

As for MV do be quiet dear. Strictly is such an inclusive show & the GBP are generally a very inclusive bunch. I vote for the best dances not whether their sexual orientation or colour.

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/11/2019 07:50

They don't normally do best bits on the results show do they? I wasn't sure, but DH was convinced they don't. With that in mind, I don't think Michelle will be on ITT tonight. Shame, but maybe a schedule clash that couldn't be avoided.

Will be interesting to see if Gio goes it alone.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2019 07:52

I think they do them when they have fewer celebs left. It pads out the time.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2019 07:52

I remember thinking before how odd it must be to film your exit VT before you are out.

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/11/2019 08:01

Did anyone else completely forget we still have a musicals week coming up? I thought we'd already had it, in the blur of movie & Halloween week. It seems quite late now, but maybe it's because we are one celeb down.

When do they start doing 2 dances a week?

xsquared · 18/11/2019 08:12

Musicals is usually one week before semi final.
