Bloody Hell!!! I give up. He's alive anyway!! 🙊

LittleAndOften · 17/11/2019 06:19

Morning. I watched the dances again last night (3am cluster feeding!) I couldn't put my finger on the problem with kelvin and Karim but now I think it's because they both show the effort and have none of the easy charm needed to pull off a performance. Kelvin had great moves but had a face like a potato - as an actor I thought he would tap more into the Elvis cool. If you watch John Travolta dance he has that x factor in spades - effortless charm and cool that makes the audience relax. Both HJudd and JMcG had this and it made all the difference. You can see it in the pros too - as annoying as AJ is, his dancing is effortless.

LittleAndOften · 17/11/2019 06:20

Oops. Might have repeated myself a few times there Confused

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 07:07

I've just rewatched this which was posted wayyyy up the thread.

Is this from something? As it seems a bit odd that Michelle & Gio had the same costumes and the similar framing in the background, with the same song.. Hmm

Is it a reference to a film or music video?

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 07:12

Think I've answered my own question after some googling.

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 07:13

Sorry , this is the right link. MTV awards performance.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 17/11/2019 07:46

filthybiscuit - is the clip you're thinking of?

Encyclo · 17/11/2019 07:55

Oh my heart! He was so beautiful.

EvilRingahBitch · 17/11/2019 08:25

Teen DD is a huge Drag Race fan and Michelle supporter and was v excited about this week’s routine but even she was hugely unimpressed by that dance and demonstrated Craig’s point to me about how Michelle should have done the round-the-face thing.

Karim was flawless but somehow that dance really didn’t catch fire for me. The narrative seemed clearly driving towards giving it 40 so I wonder why Craig decided not to. Kelvin had (slightly) more of the wow factor this week and I think he could well get 40 for that dance in the final.

Alex’s Paso looked to me like an excellent routine danced with mediocre technique but good commitment. It obviously went down a bomb in the hall. Mike’s paso last week also looked like a brilliant routine (bar the gimmick at the end) completely wasted on Mike - bless Katya for trying though.

Horsemad · 17/11/2019 08:37

I agree with PP who said the music for Karim's dance let it down.
To me it just didn't feel like a Charleston.

KurriKawari · 17/11/2019 08:44

People on twitter getting annoyed that Craig was 'mansplaining' voguing to Craig, saying how dare he, Michelle invented it before madonna. I dunno but she looked like she was striking a beard rather than what she should have been doing.
At least if she goes it'll be for a dance she wanted to do.

Clawdy · 17/11/2019 08:46

Would really like to see Michelle go now, but I think they will save her, whoever she is up against, unless it's Emma.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 17/11/2019 08:58

MaggieFS

I really hope it's not a Chris / Michelle DO

I bet that’s exactly what it will be Maggie

IdleBet · 17/11/2019 08:58

Michelle and Gio were my favourites up to now, but last night was a shocker.
As PP said he was just mincing around, it was awful. There is an old YouTube video of Michelle 'vogueing' and she was crap then.
It was very self indulgent.

Chris made me smile so I'm rooting for him.

Hope Michelle stays to redeem herself but going on last week's votes she mightn't have much of a fanbase.

Also agree Anton is due for retirement. His choreography is bad and he looked awful dancing next to Emma last week.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 17/11/2019 09:09

MargotMoon

Just flicking through and re-watching certain bits and I'm CONVINCED that Anton is going to announce his retirement at the end of this series..

I said exactly that a couple of weeks ago, Margot which is why I think they gave him Emma as opposed to the old dufferAnneka

ShirleyPhallus · 17/11/2019 09:15

I’ve just watched back some of the old routines and really missing some standout amazing people. Caroline flack and Danny mac - they were both absolutely amazing. Loved Debbie McGee too

AppleKatie · 17/11/2019 09:16

I’ve just watched the Madonna vogue. Hers is better because it’s original Michelle’s looked like a dated copy.

To be fair Madonna also has a massive god complex, but on the other hand she needed it to be slow/stomps because she needed to sing at the same time. Michelle’s not got that excuse.

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 09:20

Does anyone know how much say the pro / celeb gets with the theme? Just as obviously Michelle wanted to do Vogue, but I wonder whether she would have preferred to have done it a different way & producers etc went for this style instead. Would be interesting to know.

AppleKatie · 17/11/2019 09:23

I think the pros get quite a lot of say not so much the celebs I don’t think.

SoupDragon · 17/11/2019 09:26

I hope Craig explains "tonight" why he didn't give Karim a 10. He didn't have any negatives in his comments and he usually does point out a small thing if he isn't giving a 10 (like he did with Kevin).

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 17/11/2019 09:36

Congratulations! 👶🏻

ElspethFlashman · 17/11/2019 09:47

Thanks for the explanation about the strap. Aaaah Tess must literally scour the land for asymmetrical dresses and jumpsuits. Her poor Beleaguered stylist!

OK controversial opinion here: but I have come to the conclusion that Bruno is indespensible. Motsi is a MESS. Shirley is technically knowledgeable but a bit of a cowbag, and Craig, whilst intelligent, marks you down for breathing.

Bruno always does very well in Blackpool. He stands up at the end and does the whole Ringmaster thing and you know what? It's needed.

He does it at other theme weeks too - he stands up and says it was the best week ever and wasn't everyone amazing and wasn't the standard so high and weren't the costumes fantastic and everyone behind the scenes worked so hard and the audience roars!

He used to me a mess, but now he's becoming someone I increasingly listen to. And god, that whole "one banana, two banana...." thing to Mike last week was AMAZING.

iklboo · 17/11/2019 09:51

Sorry, but I was triggered by Sooty. I had a gynae op this week so seeing the bear with someone's hand rammed up his nethers brought it all back Grin

SO disappointed by Michelle this week.

SoupDragon · 17/11/2019 09:53

😂😂

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 17/11/2019 09:54

Craig said on It Takes Two he gives a ten only if he is taken away with it and dancing in his mind with them.
I think Karim was technically a ten and looked like a pro but I agree with Craig's 9. Something was missing for me but I cannot explain what a certain je ne sais quoi. You are right though Dragon usually Craig gives himself an out with a tiny detail or imperfection whereas last night he was wholly positive.
Was it confirmed here whether they put their scores in live or not or based on the dress rehearsal? I always thought they inputted them about 3/4 of the way through (because Patrick got a 10 for his AS despite stuffing up in the last few seconds).
Fair play to Craig though for going with his heart rather than peer pressure as the whole narrative was leading up to four tens.
