I thought Mike would go? She didn't put a foot wrong.

Yes, if I was partnered with Aljaz it would be a very sad day when the first Monday post-eviction came around (because obvs we would still be together on the Sunday for results show...)

Apparently SHE DOESNT HAVE FAVOURITES and if you write in capitals it must be true 🤣

MaggieFS · 05/11/2019 21:58

DS woke up half an hour too sodding early today, so I productively used the extra zombie time by binge watching Danny Mac's dances. Wow, I'd forgotten how good they were. It's never bothered me that he was a ringer, he put on a great spectacle which I looked forward to watching. I don't mind ringers who make it entertaining until the slebs get to a good standard. No one this series gets close, and the crap music really doesn't help.

I noticed on ITT they were talking about 'the last time this song... ' WTF? There are gazillions of songs out there, why repeat some?

covetingthepreciousthings · 05/11/2019 22:07

@MaggieFS I'm literally binge watching Danny dances on YouTube now Grin

His opening Cha Cha was amazing, and his Paso I feel is under rated.

I also don't mind ringers if they are as good as him, would hate it to be a show full of the likes of Anneka & David James..

covetingthepreciousthings · 05/11/2019 22:09

Re Emma, I also think it was fairly obvious that she was smitten with Aljaz (I mean who wouldn't be).

There must be a lot of unrequited romances and fancying going on behind the scenes..

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 05/11/2019 22:10

But does she have Unfavourites, Apple?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 05/11/2019 22:15

Also (and only cos anyone on here knows I stan him more than the show itself) the very lovely Chris Rubery (blogger known as Monkseal) coined the phrase Pissy Gorka a couple of seasons ago whenever Gorks looked pissed off at any negative feedback from the judges. I think this was when paired with Alex.
Here is the lovely one's results recap

AppleKatie · 05/11/2019 22:17

Well who doesn’t have the odd UNFAVOURITE Wink

Theromanempire · 05/11/2019 22:21

Loving the Emma and Aljiaz goss - can well believe it as she did look super smitten. Do you think she'll do a full-on Louise and shake off her old life now she's seen the outside world?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 05/11/2019 22:47

Maybe she just really fell in love with dancing?
I prefer that to her being smitten/having unrequited fanny gallops ...I get it but it still feels disrespectful to Janette. Am sure Janette gets it and would not even feel threatened - am sure she and Aljaz spoke not long back of how hard it is for non pros to get used to being in close proximity all day long. It nonetheless feels like a cliche though, like falling for your shrink or something.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 05/11/2019 22:57

Funnily enough I didn't find Aljaz attractive in his first season. I blame Chris for calling him Sexy Frankenstein. But I adored him with Alison Hammond and when he did that little jump in his boots and breeches in their Wuthering Smooth, then I could see the attraction.
I loved their partnership. I also liked Daisy albeit someone either on here or DS intimated he found her a struggle. I wonder why.
With Gemma and Kate, but especially Gemma, he was far too enthusiastic in 'selling' their performance post-dance but this series he got it spot on. Just very warm and supportive but not ott.
Still sad for Janette as I think she might have made her first final with Will.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 05/11/2019 23:16

That article from Shirley - methinks the lady doth protest too much....

BiscuitMachine · 05/11/2019 23:40

Just popping in to say I love Monkseal. He makes me laugh out loud. Lots. If any of you don't read his blog I urge you to! The bit this week In the performance recap about Pissy Gorka throwing a brick wrapped in a note "IS NO FAIR" was bloody hilarious. I only discovered Monkseal last year thanks to this thread. So thank you Smile

Horsemad · 06/11/2019 00:55

Haha, I second that @BiscuitMachine! He's brilliant. Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/11/2019 06:56

It was me who said that and I can't now find the blimmin' article I read it in! It was a "proper newspaper" (so not red-top we've just made this up in our lunch hour stuff) - might have been in a weekend magazine of some sort? Anyway, it was a long article about Daisy Lowe and one of the times the journalist interviewed her was during Strictly. The article described a tense atmosphere in the room and Aljaz chain-smoking furiously outside but I can't remember any more than that!

It stuck with me largely because I was so gutted to discover that he smoked Grin

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross was it this one? Although I always thought they must get one fairly well, as she joined them on holiday in Miami to celebrate Janette's birthday.

Also surprised about Aljaz smoking.

Beveren · 06/11/2019 08:04

I assumed they'd got KFG rather than Gorka in to replace Neil because they had to find someone who would fit the costume.

Does anyone know what they did about the group dance that week? I was catching up on ITT the other night and in the feature about the group dance both Neil and KFG were involved.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/11/2019 08:22

I remember that article about Daisy and Aljaz, what transpired afterwards that the journalist hadn't known was that Daisy's grandparent had just died. I think it all got a bit easier between them after a couple of weeks.

DarlingNikita · 06/11/2019 09:35

wish they'd bring Colin Jackson back for the xmas special
He was in, some years ago. He won, so justice was done!
And it used to be a mix of previous Strictly people and others (I fondly remember Sheila Hancock one year). It was much better than just having previous contestants.

kazzaD66 · 06/11/2019 09:41

One year, didn't they have ex celebs taking on the pro role and teaching another celeb how to dance? I seem to remember Matt Dawson partnering Elaine Paige.

MaggieFS · 06/11/2019 10:14

Can't say I'm chuffed that Debbeh is back. Too far along the gushy scale for my liking.

ChampooPapi · 06/11/2019 13:06

@Darlingnikita

it was much better than just having previous contestants

Agreed

ChampooPapi · 06/11/2019 13:12

And yes to Gio & Ashley dancing together

ChampooPapi · 06/11/2019 13:13

I know that was hardly breaking news but I needed to support that!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/11/2019 14:46

coveting - YES! Thank you! I thought I'd made it up bur what a weird thing to have made up if I had Grin
