Hope they haven’t killed off Bex, Martian will have to come back now.

Whats the bet he won't come back?
People regularly don't return for funerals in EE!

Its nice to see Dot back. I wonder if her eyes have worsened irl?

Akire · 04/10/2019 05:44

Have reported spoiler. This is reason I stopped following Corrie thread when story lines are wrecked.

Do you think if we posted in some obscure part of MM under different topic that didn’t come up in active we would avoid those we always spoil it?

Bakingbread123 · 04/10/2019 06:03

The new ben is so sexy

TheresAFuckOverThere · 04/10/2019 07:29

Reported spoiler as well @Whyisshedoingit it's not difficult, if it hasn't been on the show, it's a spoiler

dogsdinnerlady · 04/10/2019 08:13

What sort of pills would Bex have access to that would kill her nice and peacefully? I think many sleeping pills have emetics built in now so she would vomit. I hated the sentimental music/sunrise thing too.
I think it is irresponsible of writers to sentimentalise a suicide attempt in this way when lots of teens might be watching/influenced.

AmIThough · 04/10/2019 08:28

@dogsdinnerlady Sonia had a stash of those pain meds for Rainie so I can imagine she's got plenty of meds that she shouldn't leave lying around!

The choice of music was really weird and irresponsible too.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 04/10/2019 08:38

Sonia could be struck off the nursing register! Shock

AmIThough · 04/10/2019 08:47

@JoxerGoesToStuttgart hopefully she is still allowed to nurse in other countries and goes off to India to live with Nita and Robbies son so we don't have to see her irritating face anymore!

The80sweregreat · 04/10/2019 09:17

The music was a bit much. It's to raise awareness of mental health but not that well
done.
lol at Sonia going to India. Let's hope she does! She hasn't even rung Robbie about his son has she? ( I know it's not real ! 😀)

AmIThough · 04/10/2019 09:22

@The80sweregreat she did mention the other day that Sami was out of hospital (remembered his name now!) but Robbie is staying over there for a while.

I'm guessing he'll be back after panto season!

The80sweregreat · 04/10/2019 09:57

Oh I missed that with Sonia: I tend to zone out when she's on.
Kirsty seems a mare. Keegan looked hooked though .. !

Akire · 04/10/2019 12:21

They only showed like one sleeve of meds I thought looked like ADHD ones she was taking in secret (but flashing on screen every 5m) Maybe with alcohol they are dangerous?

Moomin8 · 04/10/2019 12:23

I didn't like the music either. It seemed like an inappropriate way to depict a suicide attempt.

southeastdweller · 04/10/2019 13:52

I agree the music was inappropriate. I know these kind of issue stories can help other people in similar situations which is great but I can't get invested in it as it feels like a plot device so the most miserable teenager in London can stay in the square. My assumption is that she'll survive, conveniently forget about all the great universities there are in the capital and find a job in the square.

SoupDragon · 04/10/2019 14:10

I thought the music and how it was done were both great. It showed the clear contrast between where Bex was mentally and all the people celebrating over the road.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 04/10/2019 14:16

I liked it too Soup.

The80sweregreat · 04/10/2019 14:21

They could have had her do this at half term after she has been to uni and was finding it hard : it wouldn't have tied into ' suicide awareness week' but maybe she could have then decided to go to another uni closer to home or a less demanding degree or something like that. It Would have shown that there are options if your struggling etc.
Still , it's done now and I hope she survives.

Moomin8 · 04/10/2019 14:24

I hope she survives too. The reason I didn't like the music is that as a person who has felt that way before, if I'd been watching that during a bad time it would have made me feel worse tbh.

EmeraldShamrock · 04/10/2019 15:49

There has been such a big build up to Bex breakdown it may not worked with a term break. Many high achievers are expected to be strong resilient.

The80sweregreat · 04/10/2019 15:51

I guess so ; if your good enough for Oxbridge you need to be tough and resilient!

360eyes · 04/10/2019 18:25

Agree with you dogsdinnerlady. I have worked with suicidal people before. I'm not sure the way they depicted it with the music was particularly responsible, especially as it concerns a teenage girl. Agree that it should be covered in a soap though to raise awareness, as I believe MH in University students needs more attention, just think it could have been portrayed differently.

SalemSpellman · 04/10/2019 20:53

Sausage surprise! Grin

360eyes · 04/10/2019 21:26

What is a fishy basket though? Did I hear that right?
