New thread, no spoilers, it makes the spoiler thread feel obsolete.

I thought you were going to say you have the same toaster since Gail and Paul got married. I thought that can’t be safe 😂

CruellaFeinberg · 22/08/2019 20:15

@MiddleClassProblem haha, no its a new one- I'd like the kettle too, but it quite fugly

TheWashingFairyatemyhamster · 22/08/2019 22:29

It was lovely to see Gail and Paul acting together again. She’s always been my favourite of his wives. With Rebecca second. I’d be made up if the old Gail and Paul spark rekindled. Except of course they’d probably then partner Therese up with Ned 🤢 or something equally vom-inducing but not technically illegal.

BreconBeBuggered · 22/08/2019 23:04

She could always go back to doing the limber ladybird with Gary.

SpanishFly · 22/08/2019 23:28

Jeez the feckin limber ladybird. Seriously, Gary is awful and adds nothing to anything. Why doesn't he get dumped?

AGnu · 22/08/2019 23:44

I know very little about Gail. I was a bit busy learning to walk when she was on it originally. Can anyone give me a brief synopsis of what happened between them?

SleepingStandingUp · 22/08/2019 23:55

Subtle "gosh I'm so young" @AGnu. Subtle.

Paul and Gail worked together in the Lassiters complex office that was a set also used to represent Dr Kennedy's GP practice several years later. They both loved each other but wouldn't admit it to the other one.

Mr Oodigower was a powerful Japanese business man that they were trying to impress and do a massive deal with. Mr Oodigower was mad on family, and only trusted doing business with a family/married man, so Paul and Gail decided to get married purely for business reasons. They pretended it was a proper wedding to Jimbob, Helen Daniels etc. Got married in Paul's house in a basic service. Everyone watching on TV knew they both really loved each other even though they didn't know the other one loved them back. Mr Oodigower signed the deal, and Paul and Gail had a marriage of convenience for a while, both pretending they didn't love the other.

I think Gail then started to back off from the marriage of convenience coz it was too hard thinking Paul didn't love her, and remember Scott in the office telling Paul it was obvious he was madly in love with Gail and to go after her and admit it. It was so romantic. It was my favourite storyline ever on neighbours. Grin.

AGnu · 23/08/2019 09:17

Ah, of course... Everyone gets married just to seal a deal, right?! Thanks Smidge.

Mine too, and it was very romantic when they finally got together. I love Gail and she looked fabulous too. Strong features.

I don't want them to get back together though. Keep Paul and Therese together, after loads more misunderstandings no doubt.

SpanishFly · 23/08/2019 10:34

I love the Paul storylines in general. I loved when he had the thing with the twins 😅

AGnu · 23/08/2019 13:04

So what happened to end their relationship? Did she have the babies before she left or after?

Smidge001 · 23/08/2019 13:14

I agree doginthemanger. Although I loved it at the time I really don't want them to go back there. The chemistry has definitely gone and he and Thérèse are meant to be. I really hope Gail doesn't put any doubts into therese's mind, they are SO ready to be together forever. I want them to stay strong.

FionaCorkesWardrobebyKamizole · 23/08/2019 13:33

And mine as well. So happy to see Gail back (and looking very well, she's aged better than I have!). Although I liked Paul & Therese together, you just can't compare it to Paul & Gail. Sorry! I am hoping something happens between them again this time but it's not looking likely.

So what happened to end their relationship? Did she have the babies before she left or after? Gail moved to Tasmania just before she had the triplets. She left Paul after saying he continually put business before their marriage (yawn, that old chestnut) and then when he left her father's wake to go to a meeting she just upped and left him. As you do.

TheWashingFairyatemyhamster · 23/08/2019 22:23

It was my favourite ever storyline too. I had the episode when Paul finally admitted he loved Gail on video and watched it many times .

Clearly it was totally normal to up sticks when very heavily pregnant with IVF triplets.

nameychange · 25/08/2019 09:32

I don’t understand how Roberts behaviour is all Paul’s fault. Gail upped and left Paul when pregnant and then cut him out of the triplets life. Surely she’s more to blame than Paul about how Robert turned out since she was the major influence in his life. What poison did she feed them growing up for him to want to kill his dad?

Smidge001 · 25/08/2019 23:01

Fair point!

MiddleClassProblem · 26/08/2019 23:10

I found it quite amusing hearing all those background Aussie voices calling out “Sheila” like they were just looking for any woman.

MiddleClassProblem · 26/08/2019 23:17

Also why do people always drop personal items when walking in the bush? I’ve been on many a long walk, I even did DoE. I’ve tried ever lost jewellery, a scarf, a jacket, a shoe...

And your mum’s bush is really scary at night

SleepingStandingUp · 27/08/2019 11:22

@MiddleClassProblem clearly you didn't care enough about being rescued / didn't have the Australian Soap upbringing where your chances of getting lost in the Bush are disproportionally higher than anywhere else in the world

Aw jeez, Mark! Nooo!

Iwantacampervan · 27/08/2019 18:48

Elly - I'm upset this evening
Mea - I'll sing to you!

AGnu · 27/08/2019 18:52

He's 16 years older than her. They made a point of her saying she's 20 the other day & today was his 36th. She's a very vulnerable young woman. He knows all about her issues. He's a grown man. A policeman. Who's just been involved in a case about a man who took advantage of her & is now investigating a member of that man's family for stealing her money.

Yup, no abuse of power or inappropriateness there... That's totally a healthy, balanced relationship... Hmm

I actually feel really angry for Roxy. It's a shame she's related to Ned - a nice, calm, stable boyfriend at a similar age/life-stage could do her the world of good. Plus, then we could ship Vi off to uni, or on a football scholarship or something & stop having to watch this awful "look, she's a woman now" display.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/08/2019 18:53

I don’t know what horrifies me more - Bea thinking her singing would help Elly, or Mark and Roxy. Arghhhhhhh!

MiddleClassProblem · 27/08/2019 19:13

Sure Ned and Roxy being cousins makes it even more likely to happen...
