New thread, no spoilers, it makes the spoiler thread feel obsolete.

I can’t remember who it was but there was a trans big brother contest who’s mum was on the audience and they were saying how their mum loved them and was getting to know this new child but equally morning the loss of the child they had had before. They were both very understanding about each other’s circumstance but it was an adult transition so thoughts can be a bit wiser and more nuanced than a child.

Equally, every case is different like with anything. There will be some parents that knew from day dot how their child felt and it would be no surprise but others it might be more of a shock.

But more importantly, how has the guy from Strictly Ballroom turned into Phil Martin?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/10/2019 00:17

There is a thread on here, for women whose partners have transitioned from male to female, and so many of them speak of grieving the loss of the person they married - I can only imagine that having one’s child transition would be similarly difficult to deal with.

From the moment you know you’re pregnant, you start dreaming about your child’s future, and when the baby’s born, those dreams become more real. Mackenzie’s dad’s dreams for his child were clearly heavily stereotyped (but that is going be due to his upbringing and where he grew up - a very macho culture), but even though his dreams were rather old fashioned, they were still his dreams, and it must have been a real wrench to see such a huge change in his child.

Wow, that must have been some deep sleep Ned was in! Not waking up when someone squeezes in next to you, and drapes your arm over them, then someone else lets themselves into your house......Grin

Lovewineandchocs · 09/10/2019 08:59

clawdy I know, so unrealistic! I haven’t seen yesterday’s episode yet, but did Scarlett give Ned anything to drink? Maybe she drugged it...

AGnu · 09/10/2019 12:48

I was so hoping Ned would wake up & demand to know what she was doing just as Yashmi walked in & the whole thing would be uncovered & she'd leave in disgrace before the morning. She annoys me. I think mostly because she reminds me of someone & I can't think who - it's a cross between Izzy Hoyland & someone non-Neighbours-related. Kristen Chenoweth, maybe?! Confused

I still can't get passed seeing Roxy as Reese Witherspoon.

MiddleClassProblem · 09/10/2019 14:24

Yeah, Roxy is still a 90s Reese to me.

I still get a young Thora Birch for Scarlett

SpanishFly · 10/10/2019 17:55

2 of the most awful characters making a reappearance today.... Arrrgh

Smidge001 · 10/10/2019 20:34

Posting coz I lost the thread. Shaun is sooooo annoying. Whiney voice "I want to work with finn. Come on toadie, (who I just barged in on a meeting with and barely know) why can't you make it happen? . Oh pleeeeaaase, why should his previous crimes mean he can't work with children and isn't a suitable mentor? It's just soooo unfair...".

Ridiculous. I loved toadie's comment about how Shaun seems to have a rose tinted view of sibling life Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/10/2019 21:07

Yes - Shaun is supposedly an intelligent person, so why is he finding it so hard to understand that a convicted felon can’t work - in any capacity - in a project involving children??!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/10/2019 21:07

Added to which, I would rather eat my own head than work on a project with my sister!

AGnu · 10/10/2019 23:09

Finn literally tried to kill a while school-full of children, who on earth could possibly think there was even a tiny chance that anyone would sign off on him working with children?! Even if he is a different person at the moment, they have no way of knowing if he might recover his memories at some point & take advantage of his position to harm more children. Should that happen everyone will be demanding to know who let him be around children given his history. No-one's going to stake their entire career & reputation on him never going back to being bad-Finn. Except maybe Booboo. Hmm

SpanishFly · 10/10/2019 23:13

Which reminds me. Would anyone in real life give Finn the benefit of the doubt in ANY situation, after doing all the shit he did??

MiddleClassProblem · 11/10/2019 07:21

And he groomed Xanthe!

SleepingStandingUp · 11/10/2019 08:19

Ah but he's a changed man now, all is forgiven... 🙄

He’ll take over from Elly when she goes on mat leave

Cherrypie32 · 11/10/2019 14:01

Is the ball supposed to be fancy dress. Why do they all look like 80’s throwbacks? And a Dad’s dance, height of cringe, does this stuff really happen?

ConstancetheGardener · 11/10/2019 15:50

I have good news . The well is now dug and ready to receive bodies . Suggestions please . I bags first go with Hendrix - he is deeply creepy and extremely annoying (but I'm sure really lovely irl )

MotherOfSoupDragons · 11/10/2019 15:51

Ridiculous dance with all the parents there. Yuck.

Smidge001 · 11/10/2019 19:13

Why would parents be invited / go to a school dance? That seems really really odd to me. It doesn't happen here in the UK does it? I've never heard of the idea or seen it in films etc. Is it just a Ramsey street thing? I'm sure they've done this before.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/10/2019 19:29

ConstancetheGardener

You are welcome to him. I find him annoying on insta 😂

I’m still on the rota for Chloe...

Starburst8 · 11/10/2019 20:12

Not only was the dance odd and old fashioned, but did anyone else find it odd that Mackenzie didn't even question dancing with Shane? No what about Yashvi, she's your daughter does she mind type of thing.
I do like the diversity of the Mackenzie storyline but I'm really starting not to like her, it's all me me me... Oh my god she's Mea!!

Starburst8 · 11/10/2019 20:12

Sorry meant Dad dance being odd*

BreconBeBuggered · 11/10/2019 21:31

The only other example of a father=daughter dance I can think of was on Everybody Loves Raymond. The daughters were much younger there than on today's Neighbours, and seemed a deeply strange concept, but maybe it's a thing then.
What should we call Mackenzie then? Mackenzmie or Meckenzie?

nameychange · 11/10/2019 22:51

Last years prom or might have been the year before that was zanthe and pipers and there were def no parents then.

AGnu · 12/10/2019 01:06

YY, how many teenage girls want to dance with their dad, let alone their mate's dad?! I'd have thought most of them would be mortified at the thought! The whole thing seemed like it was written by a young teen who still believed in fairy tales - poor, rejected Cinderella is feeling sad but then a big, strong man comes along, ignoring everyone else, including those you might've thought he'd pay attention to like his actual daughter & chooses to dance with Cinderella. Hmm When Dipi sent him to dance with Yashvi & insisted she speak to Mackenzie I was so relieved that Shane was putting his own daughter first for once.

Talking of his daughter... Where's Kirsha gone?! She's barely been seen, other than sitting in on the odd conversation, for ages. Confused

Is anyone else struggling with having Shane & Shaun? I have to think carefully about which name belongs to which character. It's quite rare for them to have such similar sounding names on the show at the same time.

Who do we think has the memory card? I'm guessing it either has to be the guy who found the camera or the one who was hired to investigate. Surely Amy's creepy ex-boss won't have had an opportunity to get hold of it since Amy & Kyle were in there... How convenient though that they just so happened to stay in the one bugged room having been tricked into going there by Stalklett. What are the chances of that?! I mean, it's almost like they needed it to be Amy because she was linked to the previous storyline & would be easy to persuade not to go straight to the police, like any normal person would! Actually, any normal person would be demanding to know why the hotel hadn't reported it themselves! Hmm

I may be a bit PMT-ish & easily angered atm but all the storylines are stupid. They really should get rid of all their story writers & hire us instead. We'd do it proper like! Grin
