I’m no buying the Shane storyline. I can believe he told Mackenzie’s dad and being transphobic in the past but he’s so far from woke that him supporting Mackenzie to this degree, it’s unbelievable. His character just wouldn’t be this invested and I don’t think that cut up about the dad ultimately leaving. He’s not even that bothered by his own son who him and dippi mention every now and then.

The families in Neighbours often have dc living away when the family first arrive like a trump card to play when they run out of ideas

sleeping Yashvi is actually supposed to be the eldest and Jay is at boarding school rather than uni. They’ve referred to this a few times in the show, but tbh the continuity is so bad that I wouldn’t be surprised if Jay came in as the eldest, having been at uni in Sydney

Any other teen & "he upset me, I'm never going to speak to him again" would get a raised eyebrow/eye roll & they'd be told to stop being so dramatic & go sort it out. Especially when said person has been bending over backwards to help & make amends.

Haven’t watched Neighbours yet, but Sleeping it sounds like you might have your twins on my twins’ birthday. Mine are 6 though, so no spare cribs knocking about.

Maybe Middle and I can get over invested and have a crib-off with our cardboard boxes. Mine shared a cot until they were about 5 months old but then they were massive and needed one each except one of them wouldn’t sleep in his

I brought a compact cot for them to share but they're sitting at about 60th percentile so expecting goof sized babies if I can keep cooking them long enough. 36 weeks is Dec 12th, 37weeks would be amazing. And boys, so it's literally Paul's twins or none haha

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it is pretty unfair to criticise Shane for the way he reacted to Mackenzie being trans, all those years ago? It is only in very recent years that the trans issue has become a) mainstream and b) well known.

At the point where Shane made the remark about burning all the girl stuff, I don’t think there was the same visibility of trans kids nor had there Ben such a big push to normalise it and promote acceptance. Add to that the fact that he was (and still is, to a large extent) a very bloke-y Aussie bloke, it just seems unrealistic to have expected Shane to be understanding and woke back then.

Yet he is being pilloried by everyone who knows, and it is obviously completely impossible to have a nuanced approach to the storyline. The writers can’t have a story in which yes, something traumatic happened to Mackenzie due to Shane’s remark, but actually he was a product of his time, sex, socialisation and upbringing so let’s not hang, draw and quarter him.
