I know Adelie it must be so hard for Grigor but he never really shows his annoyance or disappointment and signs tennis balls etc (he even gave a fan in the crowd a bag of his sweaty kit - either that or he was just handing over his laundry - maybe Zverev could do that? Grin). He did play really well in the last few games of the set as well.

I’m really not interested in watching Djokovic.

PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 19:47

Grin Fizzy that would be a good way for Sascha to get his washing done - stealth laundry!

X-post about Grigor's niceness. I do feel for him at the mo.

Good win for Tiafoe, I wonder if Monfils was still feeling the effects of Saturday's match v RBA? Still a good result for Tiafoe though.

Raahh iirc, Thiem was on the opposite side of the draw to Djok but I must admit I haven't checked.

I'm not interested in watching him either. I might watch Kyrgios-Tsitsipas Shock Grin

Fizzywinegum · 13/08/2019 19:55

Private you’re watching Dick? Shock Grin

PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 19:58

Fizzy yes!! Grin

PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 20:04

They're getting a bit of a lesson btw

Raahh · 13/08/2019 20:09

oh wow, I had to go out- not a great score line from what I can see (still can't watch).

How much of it is them playing badly/opponents playing well/Dick playing to type and just not being arsed?

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 20:17

In fairness Raahh I'd say it's the opponents playing well. They look like a proper doubles team (as they are, obviously!), really quick, crossing, 'poaching' etc etc. K &T just haven't had a chance to get into it.

Raahh · 13/08/2019 20:21

Private that's what I hoped.

I'm getting a bit Hmm at all these doubles pairings coming along and thinking they can just pitch up and win- against players who do it with the same partner week in and week out.

Speaking of whichGrin- I see Murray/Lopez had a bit of of a tussle to get through their match.

Cabal and Farah are probably the top seeds/world number 1 doubles pairing aren't they, though?

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 20:23

Yea totally Raahh - I bet the doubles lads love showing them what's what!

I think Cabal -Farah must be No1 or thereabouts. Was it them who won Wimbledon? I've already forgotten Hmm

PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 20:24

Sorry about the "yea" Hmm I keep doing it!! I've deleted it from my predicted words and it keeps coming back!!

Raahh · 13/08/2019 20:27

Private it was, they beat Mahut and ERV - who was heartbroken.

Cue lots of 'First Columbians' stats etc etc.

Hello. May I join in? Have been following your threads since Roland Garros.

Am watching Dick and Stef and am a bit bored tbh.

Also missing the DJ of Montreal!

Raahh · 13/08/2019 20:39

Stinky welcome!

The dj was a highlight. I bet he gets lots of wedding gigs Grin.

Stinkyfeet · 13/08/2019 20:47

I bet you're right there!

Actually Dick and Stef have stepped up a bit. Would quite like them to win (sorry) as haven't quite forgiven Cabal/Farah for Wimbledon. Bit of a soft spot for lovely Nick Mahut.

Stinkyfeet · 13/08/2019 20:49

Nico, not Nick.

PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 20:51

Hi Stinky Smile

Yes it is a bit boring this match - although this is the most enthusiastic crowd I've seen in Cincinnati so far!!

It's getting on my nerves that Kyrgios/Stef are both standing back - what's the point??

That's right of course Raahh re the first Colombian winners etc - I'd thought it was them but my mind had gone blank (common occurrence these days Hmm)

PrivateIsles · 13/08/2019 20:52

The Columbian duo have got matching outfits as well. So they obviously know what they're doing Grin

Raahh · 13/08/2019 21:01

Matching outfits are a definite sign that they are a serious pairing, Private. Grin

Evening all!

Just taking a scroll through the scores.

I see that Paire is playing doubles with some Chilian bloke sorry, a bit rude but I've never heard of him
Did we ever find out why Stanoit defaulted last week?
I hope they haven't fallen out Hmm (over whose turn it was to pay the bar bill) Grin

kazzaD66 · 13/08/2019 22:15

Just seen some photos of Andy and Feli on court after their win. They look so happy and relaxed, it's really lovely.

Was it three years ago today that Andy won gold in Rio?

Raahh · 13/08/2019 22:17

Garin is a pretty good young player, has had some good results especially early in the year. An odd match up for Paire, though really.

No idea what happened with Stanoit- especially.as both are still playing, so doesn't appear to be injury related? Maybe Stan broke Ben's iron?

Just catching up on all your chat.

Maybe Stan's beard wasn't up to Benoit's standards. I don't think he'll ever get the hang of French chic.

I like your laundry plan for Sascha Fizzy Grin

Hi Stinky

PrivateIsles · 14/08/2019 08:25

kazza not sure what happened with Stanoit but Stan posted a photo of them drinking milkshakes together Grin after the tournament, so they seem to still be pals. Yes maybe it was "sartorial differences"?!

Andy definitely seems much more relaxed playing doubles doesn't he? He said after the Gasquet match he was disappointed with how it went, but whether he actually enjoyed it or not, who knows.

Btw I saw an interview with Sascha where he said he had adopted four puppies!! Honestly - I would have thought he'd be trying to cut down on his daily tasks, not increasing them! No wonder his fans have to do his laundry for him (in the alternative tennis reality that is Grin)

Raahh · 14/08/2019 09:17

Private in our parallel tennis universe, Sascha's minions won't get chance to sit with a cup of tea and watch 'Phil and Susie, if they've got umpteen dogs to look after!

He's playing Struff today, Sascha. As we know, that is a bit of a tricky one of late for some of the players. And Zverev is definitely vulnerable enough to get Struffed.
