fancynancyclancy yeah the clip in ones are decent. They are easier to style. My tapes are to cover an undercurrent that's growing out. They a few round the sides to thicken my hair.

Tape ins are a pain. I couldnt be doing with the ones Lucie has though

Wearing the clip in ones all day, give me headache. They are more for special occasions for me.

I do have a few bright colour clip in wafts, if I fancy adding some colour into my hair. My hair is black, so I love adding the purples ones in if I fancy a change.

RagingWhoreBag · 19/06/2019 08:59

Checking in.

Just read this comment on the last thread Grin

Did anyone else notice when Joe was leaving, they were playing a song that seemed to be called ‘outnumbered’???

TatianaLarina · 19/06/2019 09:04

I don’t know why Yewande thought this show was a good idea. She’s quiet, introverted and insecure. Being on a show where the contestants are consciously or unconsciously biased towards white and mixed race contestants will not help her confidence.

So along comes Danny which is fine in principle but a) she doesn’t fancy him and b) she doesn’t believe a word coming out of his mouth.
She’s too insecure and self conscious to do anything anyway.

You need the hide of a rhino for this show.

ReturnofSaturn · 19/06/2019 09:13

Love Lucies hair. Is it real or hair extensions??

My hair was that long until earlier this year when I had it cut into a very short pixie, regretting that now Sad

NewarkShark · 19/06/2019 09:15

This is why I’m so annoyed she is boring. I think the bias you mention is definitely there - look at Samira last year, who as beautiful and far more personality, and I think she’s spoken out on this issue.

So I want to root for Yewande but she just genuinely has not got much about her. She’s probably lovely in real life, and seems intelligent, but she isn’t a good Love Island contestant.

Maura on the other hand hasn’t behaved well but is TV gold.

Proteinshakesandtears · 19/06/2019 09:16

ReturnofSaturn I think her own hair is quite long. But she definitely has extensions in to make it longer.

TatianaLarina · 19/06/2019 09:27

Maura a nutjob. But it’s highly entertaining.

Sagradafamiliar · 19/06/2019 09:32

Yewande gets such a bashing on here. If her personality was to the other extreme like Maura, I somehow doubt she would be perceived as just as funny or 'tv gold'. I think she's lovely. Danny is really, really into her and she doesn't feel the same. Should she pretend to fall for him? I don't think she can possibly win.

Elma doesn't look pregnant.

TatianaLarina · 19/06/2019 09:36

I don’t think Yewande is getting any kind of bashing. (But I haven’t read previous threads). She seems like a nice person but this show is not the right place for her.

Sagradafamiliar · 19/06/2019 09:37

Depends how you interpret bashing. I think she should decide for herself whether it's the right place for her or not.

Proteinshakesandtears · 19/06/2019 09:42

Since when has having an opinion automatically bashing?

She doesnt look like she is enjoying it or that interested. How is that bashing.

And plenty of people dont like Maura and/or how she acts at times. And vocal about it

SheStoodInTheStorm · 19/06/2019 09:54

Elma doesn't look pregnant!

Yewende just doesn't seem to be enjoying it and I don't think is into Danny either.

Hope they send some more people in soon.

BlueCornishPixie · 19/06/2019 10:04

I don't think Yewande is lovely, she's just quiet. She joins in with Amber and Amy a lot, shes always in the background of their bitchy behaviour joining in, and she was really involved in the childish behaviour when Maura and Elma came in.

She's not into Danny, and she's just really awkward and uncomfortable all the time. Previously people like Camilla and Alex have been a bit out of place, but Camilla at least was into the games and had a much more grown up personality. Alex tried to join in and have a laugh even if the girls weren't into him.

BlueCornishPixie · 19/06/2019 10:07

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but Joe had this really weird starey eyed expression when he was talking about Lucie. Like intently staring at the camera/lucie

Then the two times that he was actually saying reasonable things to her he didn't have this expression.

I honestly think he was on some kind of drugs. Like he was completely obsessive and controlling of Lucie, then would do a random 180 and say reasonable things to her. And this coincided withthis weird expression. Glad hes gone

unique1986 · 19/06/2019 10:12

I always hope they send quirky/different people in, you know not the usual bland type, Maura an exception, but she still looks like a doll.
Only chance of against the grain types might be toward the end.

I do not mean unattractive, just not the same as everyone else.

PaperFlowers4 · 19/06/2019 10:16

There was a split second towards the end when they were asking joe and Elma the parting questions outside the house where joe actually seemed a bit relieved to be out. No one is enjoying the villa.

AnyaMumsnet · 19/06/2019 10:19

Hi all,

We're just posting to say that we've had a few reports about the tone and direction of this thread and we'd like to enlist your help to keep things on track.

This type of discussion can attract subtly racist posts, which we delete.

If you see anything which breaks the talk guidelines, please do report and we'll take action. We want the conversation to flow, of course, but where we think any poster is being disingenuous we need to act.

ILoveYou3000 · 19/06/2019 10:21

They need to throw in a few fun personalities to lighten things up in there. Although you often hear laughter in the background when the 'serious' chats are happening. They'd be better showing the fun and allow everything to flow more naturally.

BlueCornishPixie · 19/06/2019 10:27

paper I agree, he looked really happy to be out.

I think he was pretty reluctant when he was saying to lucie how he'd wait for her. I don't think he really is into her at all and was relieved to have the decision made for him

TatianaLarina · 19/06/2019 10:28

Depends how you interpret bashing. I think she should decide for herself whether it's the right place for her or not.

How would she know before she’s on it? She may have thought it would be fine. But she doesn’t look at all comfortable now.

She spoke of her insecurities on the show last night, and this kind of show really isn’t good for that.

If you think that saying someone seems out of their comfort zone is ‘bashing’ them I suggest you look up the word.

SlipperOrchid · 19/06/2019 10:31

BlueCornish I nodded in agreement with everything you said in your last post.

I think Yewlande thought going in that she was going to be very different because she was ‘an ‘intellectual’’. Her nose was then put out of joint when she realised Anna was a pharmacist and Michael has a scientific background. Suddenly she found she didn’t fit into the niche code of being the smart one and instead the focus is on her lack of social skills She doesn’t appear to be a particularly nice person either so she doesn’t have any traits that will endear her to voters.

Anna too seems completely personality less. They would make a good couple actually.

NewarkShark · 19/06/2019 10:35

I’ve reread the thread and not really seeing where the racism subtle or otherwise is tbh. Lots of contestants are being heavily criticised.

HollySniffs · 19/06/2019 10:48

Me neither Newark 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Bellendejour · 19/06/2019 10:49

I thought Lucie looked a little upset when MM was talking about her kiss with Tommy. I would like to see them get together as I think there is a genuine spark there, but I doubt Tommy would go there after all the Maura dramz. MM and Tommy feels like a bit of a coupling of convenience.

I found all the Yewande/Danny stuff a bit random - like she was just trying to create a storyline? The insecurity stuff felt like a bit of a reach, more like she’s isn’t that into him. My care factor is kind of low, they are inoffensive enough but just not a very interesting couple.

I wonder if Lucie will confront Amy about voting for her to leave? I really hope Lucie stays, maybe she can just pair up with Anton as mates in the interim.
