Even though its popular I think this show will end up getting cancelled. The level of abuse and hate has gone way too far now. I've no idea why as big brother contestants never got treated like this from the public.

What is Dog whistle racism please?

I actually don't think Lucie will be a different person now Joe has gone. I think that's who she is-she's said so repeatedly-she's not a girly girl (despite extensions and boob job), she likes spending time on her own or with just boys (Tommy).... I don't really know why she agreed to go on the show in the first place tbh.

I don't really see what Amy has done (more than any of the other girls) to deserve bloody death threats!

I think in the wake of reality TV being scrutinised, I cant see it continuing. Or at least in it current format.

Its designed to pit people against eachother. Designed to bring out insecurities and reactions. Its designed to have the participants on edge and in an emotional state.

I cant see it going for much longer.

Dog whistle racisim, I think, is when the racisim is there but only recognisable by certain people. But that could be argued that it's people attaching racisim where there is non.

Although dog whilstle politics is that actual term. I can only assume MN are using the term dog whistle and applying it to racisim.

It's obviously crazy that people would send threats to Amy's family but I do think its disingenuous of them to say the contestants don't know that in this thing of voting for the least compatible couple, some people will go home. It's the same every year.

I don’t get the Amy hate either. Yes she has come across as a little bitchy and immature but nothing that makes me think ‘OMG she’s a terrible person’ It really does not warrant people getting that passionately worked up over. I also do keep in mind that it is heavily edited and people can be portrayed badly. As for voting, all the couples had to vote- it’s part of the game.

I also agree re it’s a bit more interesting given that there is no obvious winner unlike last year with jack and Dani. I wonder who the current favourites would be- maybe amber and Michael? But of course it could all change.

Just watched first look. If yewande finds it hard to talk about her feelings she shouldn't have come on the show. 87% of all the conversations in there start with 'I just feel like ........'.

All the chat about connections is making for boring viewing and making it all come across forced and fake. Not sure why Lucie or Yewande went on the show.

I can't believe people are that bothered about a TV show to send death threats to people it's honestly disgusting!

Also I think Big Brother was at its peak before social media so nothing on Daily Fail App, Twitter, Instagram etc. So no one to comment negativity constantly to a large audience via one of those platforms.

The show hasn't been the same the last couple of years it's a shame

I might actually quit Love Island half way through this series.

carmen I agree. Someone also suggested Yewande might be worried about how this show might affect her career and tbh I would be too. I’m also in a male dominated STEM career and there’s no way I’d do this show; it would absolutely affect me being taken seriously.

I do remember on BB a couple of times people would go to where the house was and shout stuff that the contestants would hear over the fence 😅 I guess that is the lengths worked-up people had to go to before Instagram.

I haven't watched the Circle on Channel 4, just didn't fancy it as the people were on their own talking to computers/apps?
But might give it a go, Channel 4 reality stuff is always more real and natural and interesting people.

I like First dates and Married at first sight soo.. Even that sex tape thing was kinda good.

@unique I LOVED the Circle! It wasn't staged, it was a lot more natural and the contestants were much more "real", not InstaModels. Plus the whole premise where some of them were catfishes was brilliant.

It's like an indie version of LI, 10/10 would recommend.

I also loved The Circle. Good mixture of people and I loved the cat fishing concept as well

I am the only viewer irritated by the amount of times the islanders say 'like'. We even had a couple of double like, like last night.

I'm going to get my clicker out tonight and count.

Anyone want to guess who many times the word 'like' is uttered tonight!

The Circle was fab. Will be interesting to see how the next series goes now it's already been done once. People will probably be more paranoid/sceptical about who may be a catfish.
Has a date for the next series been announced yet?
