Grin sounds ridiculous!

kazzaD66 · 14/06/2019 12:22

Prompted by private I've just looked at the Wimbledon twitter. Steffi and Andre are sweet together, I remember watching that match against Tim and Kim! Also watched the Wimbledon pop up interview with Sascha and the lovely Jo-Wilfred in Stuttgart.
How were you watching Nottingham? Can't believe they're still indoors!

PrivateIsles · 14/06/2019 12:51

It's on Eurosport kazza I'm not sure why.

They are outside now - I think Tomljanovic (Grin I can only spell that as it's on my screen right now) is playing her second match of the day.

Also Jo Durie said in commentary that Stan and Donna are no longer together Sad I had no idea!

Just been looking at the draw for Queen's - some tough matches as usual.
Tsitsipas v Edmund
Delpo v Shaggy
Stan v Dan Evans

And Murray/Lopez play the top seeds in doubles.

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 15/06/2019 13:01

Also Dimitrov v FAA

This is only the first round!

kazzaD66 · 15/06/2019 13:15

Yes, I've just seen some of the draw. It just proves again what a high quality tournament Queens is.

Fizzywinegum · 15/06/2019 13:43

Looks like some good first round matches at queens.

I think I saw the first advert for Wimbledon on the bbc yesterday - starting to get excited Smile

Raahh · 15/06/2019 13:52

I've seen that Thiem and Nish have withdrawn from Halle...

It had just gone really dark here.

I'm expecting a lot of rain, very soon. Grin.

Can't wait for Monday!

Am back from France - had a wonderful time but am totally knackered. 18months & just 4 from 6am until 7pm is exhausting, even if they are the loves of my life.

Looking forward to 4 weeks of reclining in armchair watching tennis with maybe a few visits to the tennis @ Eastbourne, depending on the weather!

PrivateIsles · 15/06/2019 21:28

Welcome back magi! Glad you had a good time and you can now put your feet up Wine

Looking forward to chatting all things Djok and Stan over the next few weeks Smile Bear Tennis

Djok = cock
Stan = notthe man.

So pleased to hear that Donna Veckic has come to her senses & ditched him.

Adelie0404 · 16/06/2019 09:31

Ladies, fortuitously I have found out how you can get Peleton. A mere £1,990 for the bike and £19.49 a month for that nice lady “Ally Love” to shout at you. Let’s all sign up!
(I did not look this up it’s in the weekend paper I stress)

magimedi · 16/06/2019 09:48

What a bargain! Off to sign up asap............... Grin

Fizzywinegum · 16/06/2019 10:10

Sounds like a good deal Adelie Smile

Welcome back Magi - looks as if Delpo is playing your favourite shaggy at queens tomorrow.

I was listening to Nigel Slater on Graham Norton’s radio show yesterday and he was talking about Tim Henman being the pink wafer of the biscuit world - not sure what he meant by that but thought it was quite funny Grin

I caught the end of the documentary about Andy Murray winning Wimbledon last night - I got all tense watching it as if he wasn’t going to win! Was good to see Djok the cock being beaten.

PrivateIsles · 16/06/2019 10:20

Adelie Grin what a total bargain! Thanks for the tip off!!

Fizzy that Murray final v Djok seems like a lifetime ago Shock I saw a bit of it as well. It was still nerve wracking. Andy looked a lot younger but Djok just looks the same!

I love Nigel Slater - I can just imagine him saying that about Tim Henman!

There was a nice interview with Delpo on the Guardian website today, mostly about his comeback, injuries, chances on grass etc. Headline: "Andy Murray has the talent to make a comeback, says del Potro" Hmm

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 16/06/2019 10:51

Djok did look the same Private - maybe not quite as skinny as he is now. It did look as if it was from another era though.

Can’t believe that Delpo’s interview had a headline about Andy Murray - well yes I can Smile. There’s going to be so much pressure on him.

Adelie0404 · 16/06/2019 12:45

Dammit my annoying and inconvenient employment will prevent me watching. I like Shaggy and Delpo - well who doesn’t! Evening sorted - sorry dear DC, you’re on your own. Here’s hoping DD1 doesnt need homework help. DH will have to step up.

magimedi · 16/06/2019 19:38

Lovely article in the Guardian from Kevin Anderson - I'm really warming to that man:

www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/jun/16/kevin-anderson-interview

PrivateIsles · 16/06/2019 21:24

I was just reading that magi
Completely agree - he's great.

Speaking of lovely, kind, decent people, did anyone see Annabel doing the interview with Donna Vekic after she was runner up at Nottingham today?

Donna was in tears and Annabel comforted her so kindly - brought tears to my eyes! It reminded me of how she was with Sascha at the O2. She seems such a nice person (so does Donna, good on her for doing the interview - don't know how she did it).

Morning all.

Been a long weekend. I'm hoping the tennis will make things better.

I'm also sick of the rain.

I like Kevin a lot- he always has seemed like a very genuine, unassuming bloke. I really felt for him last year at Wimbledon, because he gave a very gracious interview after he beat Federer- despite the fact the crowd were basically rude- the atmosphere, especially from what I saw of the end of the match was really not pleasant.

I've just seen that Damir Dzumhur is playing Halle this year. That's disappointing- he's the one that did the luge slide under the net last year at Queen's.

I took the girls to school this morning, and over the course of an hour and about 3 news bulletins, heard more than I need to about Murray's comeback. I can tell it's going to get on my nerves.

I might start yelling 'Saddle' at the mention of his name.

Adelie absolute bargain, those bikes, aren't they?? Grin

And they don't even get you out of your front room. Waste of time Grin.

I'm also intrigued about the pink wafer thing. I mean , they don't taste of much , a bit card boardy. Maybe a bit boring? I'd rather have a chocolate hobnob. I have always said Henman is the least sporty looking sportsman I have ever seen- he suits his corporate role much better. Looks like he should be working in a bank.

Fizzywinegum · 17/06/2019 11:08

To be fair to Nigel slater he did make the pink wafer biscuit comment a while ago and when he was interviewed on Saturday about it he was backtracking a bit - he does definitely suit the corporate look more than he does the sportsman look though Smile

I’m also fed up of the weather - it’s grey and drizzly here - rubbish!

Not sure if I’ll see much tennis today but tomorrow’s matches are looking pretty good.

Andy Murray was interviewed on breakfast telly this morning but I didn’t get to see it - it’s probably annoying for him as well when they keep going on about his comeback.

Raahh · 17/06/2019 11:24

Fizzy oh, I imagine it is very annoying for Andy. I wonder what he would think if he could hear some of the commentary we are subjected to, when he plays? He would probably want to zip AC's mouth shut. Grin

I'm not sure how much I'll get to see today, as I will be out most of the afternoon.

I'm very tired today, and feel very much like I am starting with a migraine. Which is not a good thing.

JaneJeffer · 17/06/2019 13:03

And straight into the Andy talk!

JaneJeffer · 17/06/2019 13:10

AC telling Sue there's none of her fellow Australians playing Grin

PrivateIsles · 17/06/2019 13:11

Jane but of course!!

I see AC opened with a "joke" about Sue playing for Australia (as per the French Open trophy Grin)

Ah how we've missed AC!
