Sorry, that was the best I could do!

He'd be great on the legends tour, but he's such a hard worker:, maybe he wants an extended break. Rafa might give a job.Grin

It really is not that far fetched any more to think that Jo could have a good run at Wimbledon. She seems far more mentally ready for it than previously, and a bit less intense.

I saw on FB that Rafa had posted a picture of one of the new seats on Chatrier- seat number 12 . His seat. Grin.

Might need to reserve the one next to it, for next year.Grin

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 08:55

Grin That's cute about the seat. Its amazing, to have won it 12 times!! I didn't notice Rafa having any special t shirts made for the occasion?! Although I saw a logo where the R of Rafa was made of 12 - IYSWIM - it doesn't translate v well to normal typing Hmm

Oh also (I've been meaning to post this for ages) when we moved house, our lovely neighbour gave us a bottle of prosecco and this was on the cork Grin

I think it should be the official beverage of The Beardy Bunch Grin

Right - off to watch today's Phil et Susie show (I wish!)

I think the folks In Wimbledon have been on here!

I loved Rafa's speech at the academy. "The most important thing is to be good persons" Grin

You know that cork looks like Delpo if he had a beard Private

kazzaD66 · 13/06/2019 11:47

Spooky Jane

private love the cork Grin

Still raining here. Wonder what it's doing in Nottingham?

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 15:33

I'm not sure kazza but I think the cricket was going ahead at Trent Bridge this pm - think tennis has a bit of a lower threshold for rain though doesn't it?!

I knew he should grow a beard! And now it's been immortalised in cork!!

I think think they've had to play inside again. Certainly did until at least mid afternoon.

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 17:17

Yes they've been totally rained off again. It's a bit grim isn't it, even for our usual summer weather??

Zverev has been knocked out in Stuttgart, by Dustin Brown. I've seen a few clips of Dustin doing some Boris Becker-type dives at the net etc. So not much practice on grass for Sascha - I presume he's playing Halle but I haven't checked...

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 13/06/2019 17:20

Poor Sascha. Why can't Dustin Brown knock out someone I don't like for a change Angry

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 17:23

He's coming for your faves Jane

Didn't he beat Kyrgios at Wimbledon once though??

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 17:27

Sorry, no he didn't - he lost in 5 sets. That makes it even worse!

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 13/06/2019 17:28

I can't remember Private but he was going out with his sister. I don't know if it's still the case.

Raahh · 13/06/2019 17:29

Jane he does have form for knocking out the one's I like.

Sascha is indeed playing Halle.

As is Thiem, Fed (obviously), Keith , Karen and Borna.

It's quite a stacked field in Halle this year. Often, Fed is the top seed by quite a distance, and Queen's is the place to be. On paper, at least- Halle has more of the 'top' ranked players.

This year, Stefanos and Anderson lead the way in London. And of course, Delpo .With Marin, Milos, and Stan.

London still sounds like the more interesting of the two.

JaneJeffer · 13/06/2019 17:30

Ah! The commentary would have been about him beating Rafa anyway no doubt! In case we ever forget.

JaneJeffer · 13/06/2019 17:32

I'm hoping Cilic has a comeback at Queens.

I'll miss being able to flick back and forth depending on who was playing where.

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 17:48

I hope so as well Jane. I know I've probably said this on every tennis thread I've been on (sorry) but he's had such a drastic downturn since last year and no-one seems to have really mentioned it (apart from us obv). Last year he'd won Queens and was the no2 seed at Wimbledon, it's mad. I know he's been injured as well but I think there was a downturn even before that. I love Marin, I really want him to make a comeback this summer.

Sigh. Let's see if that happens....

Fizzywinegum · 13/06/2019 21:03

I’m still blaming the bbc breakfast flossing incident for Marin’s drop in form - he’s not been the same since. I do like him and hope that he does make a comeback.

Loving the beardy Delpo cork Private Grin

Can’t believe the grim weather - we’ve got the heating on and and it’s been raining non stop - hopefully it will improve for queens and Wimbledon - the grass should be very green.

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 21:38

The flossing!! Of course! I'd forgotten about that. Yes - there's definitely a connection, no doubt about it. Maybe he dislocated something?!

This weather is so bad isn't it? But yes good for the grass - silver lining Smile

OP posts:
Raahh · 14/06/2019 07:06

I feel sorry for Cilic too. He's had a real Djokovic 2016 kind of downturn, no major injuries just consistent bad luck and poor results.

And yy- flossing on breakfast telly with Carol was probably what started it all.Grin.

The weather had better buck it's ideas up before Monday!

PrivateIsles · 14/06/2019 09:24

Still raining. I'm never going to get the garden done Sad or ever be able to use it at this rate!

The forecast for Queens looks ok though - fingers crossed.

Steffi Graf is 50 today. 50!!! When she was watching Dimitrov a few months ago (US Open?) she looked exactly the same as - if not younger than - when she was playing!

OP posts:
Raahh · 14/06/2019 10:01

I could cry, at how long the grass is now. I haven't been able to cut it myself, since we got the gardener to attack the jungle it was 2 weeks ago.

It's just so wet.

Steffi does look great. I still find it funny (in a nice way) that she and Andre ended up together, it just seemed so unlikely at the time.

I do hope the weather is good for Queen's - and Wimbledon.

Not too many matches under the roof, thanks, unless totally necessary Grin.

PrivateIsles · 14/06/2019 10:12

Grin yes roofs can stay well out of it!

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 14/06/2019 10:51

Yes it's sweet about Steffi and Andre. Wimbledon has got some clips on twitter of when they played the centre court roof exhibition - v cute.

I'm just watching a bit of Nottingham - omg. They are on indoor courts with no crowds and there's a match on the adjacent court to the commentary match!! The players of the other match are on the screen at the same time. It's so weird - I know there's nothing else they could do but it looks really odd. It must be a nightmare for them!

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 14/06/2019 10:54

Also whoever is playing on the next court is grunting/screeching her head off and it's reverberating around the whole place! Argh. I'm turning off.
