No idea raahh WinkGrin

Raahh · 06/06/2019 18:53

It's shocking that we haven't been told.

every 5 minutes
Shocking!

I do hope the weather is reasonable tomorrow.

Or not only will Konta start early- we will be subjected to her replays as well.

I'm starting to miss Murray.

I’ve become obsessed by Roger Federer’s cows! Apparently he was given one when he won his first Wimbledon title, she then had a calf but the original cow died Sad. He was also given another cow when he won a tournament in Switzerland I think.

When he got his first cow he said that he would have to get a cow ‘garage’ for it so still don’t think he’s much of a farmer!

I think I need a good tennis match to distract me Smile

kazzaD66 · 06/06/2019 20:42

I see the WTA chief has slammed (see what I did there Wink) the French Open for chucking scheduling the women's semis on outside courts, whilst the men are both on Phil.

I also see the second semi is scheduled to start 2 hours after Rafa and Rog start, so they clearly don't think it's going to be a close match Grin

Dan Evans has had a good day in Surbiton, beating Aussies in both singles and doubles - Kokkinakis and some bloke called Kyrgios in the latter Grin

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2019 20:45

Cow garage, he'd be a laughing stock around here Grin

Dan Evans is good for something then!

Raahh · 06/06/2019 20:51

I remember when Fed was given his first cow- me and my mum thought it was hilarious.
I saw about the WTA- they are right, it's really not right the way they have been treated.

And - I will say it- if Serena was in the semi final tomorrow, would she be playing on Simonne Mathieu? Nope. Don't think so.

It's not just about them being women, it's about the fact they aren't the 'right' ones.

And it's shit.

Fizzywinegum · 06/06/2019 20:58

I agree - the women have been treated unfairly being shunted onto outside courts at 10am when there probably won’t be many spectators.

Well done Dan Evans!

PrivateIsles · 06/06/2019 21:14

I agree, the women have earned the right to be there, they shouldn't be on the third court at 11am for a slam semi final!

But as they ticket the men's SFs separately, but not the women's Hmm they were always going to have a problem. They should just do what Wimbledon does and say your ticket is for this court, no guarantee of what match you will see.

Not that Wimbledon is without its own scheduling issues! But still.

There's some really good players at Surbiton this year - Lopez and Karlovic were playing each other in singles. Not many long rallies in that one I don't think.

Grin at "cow garage".

I am getting ads for a book about Roger at the top of this page!

Yes sorry the women’s semis start at 11am in France - I’m getting my Greek, uk and french times mixed up - it’s still early though.

PrivateIsles · 06/06/2019 21:48

Yes you're right Fizzy - 10am UK time as Inverdale would have us know!!

Yes that's 10am. 10am Grin

I like Ash Barty the most out of the remaining women, as I love how she plays. But I would also like Jo to win the whole thing, just for the hell of it Grin

Poor old Thiem has been saying it's him and the three best players of all time for the French Open title Grin

0 Slams vs 52 between him and the other three Shock

He has got a point. But I still think he should give Novak a good match tomorrow.

I have to wait in tomorrow for a delivery... which is handy when there's (hopefully) a full day of tennis on...

I’m feeling a bit nostalgic about John Inverdale with his weather reports and match time reminders but know he would be irritating the hell out of me if I was actually watching him. It’s Eurosport here so Mac will probably be the voice of doom about Rafa.

I hope that Konta goes on to win it now - I guess she’s got as much chance as the others but can be a bit fragile - hope the pressures not getting too much for her.

Poor Thiem - he just needs to believe - he’s done it before - if he can get an early break and sustain it he might have a chance (here’s hoping)

That’s a shame about having to wait in Private Smile - hope it’s not going to rain all day. What’s John saying?

Raahh · 07/06/2019 08:36

Fizzy you are right about Mac. I will not be watching the Eurosport coverage of the match. It will drive me mad. Federer will probably be playing by himself, if Mac is commentating Hmm.

He will only comment on Rafa to mention the shot clock, and his 'routine'. I can imagine it now.

Poor Dom. But he has beaten Djok at RG, and just because it was when Novak was not at his best doesn't mean anything- because Dom is now better, and more confident. There are still chinks in the armour- and even Sascha- playing as poorly as he did at times yesterday- kept him on court for 2 hours yesterday.

The weather reports I read the other day for today did not look good- it seems to be showing steady threats of rain all day- which is why it seemed daft to play so little yesterday. They should at least have got the Konta and Rafa match played, imo. They had plenty of time. But they seem to have been aiming for 'fairness' and a whole bunch of stuff surrounding who bought tickets for when . It could all end up a bit of a mess- with matches being played tomorrow at 10am Grin.

Raahh · 07/06/2019 08:49

I have realised that- if the women's final goes ahead tomorrow(and it doesn't get bumped until a week on Thursday, because they have to fit all the rained off men's matches inHmm)- I will most likely miss is. This was always a possibility, and I'm not that bothered- I often end up recording the women anyway. I'm never usually as invested in. I suppose it would be a bit of fun if Konta was in it.

And at least she wasn't born since 2001 .

Pat Cash was winding up Annabel royally yesterday by insisting it could be an all Aussie final- Ash Barty and Jo Grin. Jo still has an Australian passport, apparently. And a Hungarian one. As well as a British one. Covering her options . Wink

I've been doing my Konta homework- useful for future Pointless questions.

Raahh · 07/06/2019 09:33

Anne is looking lovely this morning.

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 09:39

The thing is in trying to be "fair", they've ended up being unfair to the women. I've got no idea who's going to win either of those matches, but I think Barty v Konta would be a good final. Ha that's funny about the "all Aussie" final Grin

It's good hearing from Anne K about Jo as she knows her game so well. Meanwhile courier is saying Jo's new dog is the main factor. Ok... Hmm Grin

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 09:40

Raahh surely Jo will be a Pointless question one day! Especially if she does win the tournament.

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/06/2019 09:48

Over on Eurosport, Annabel and Chris are not all happy - and read a tweet from Mauresmo about how wrong it is. Annabel said no that slam would treat the women like that.
I stand by the fact , it's down to the fact it's 4 relative 'unknowns' in the semi finals. It would NOT have happened to Serena, or even Halep. If there was the possibility of a Williams/Shrieky semi- it would be on Chatrier.

Raahh · 07/06/2019 09:48

Novak called Thiem, Ringo!

Rude.

Raahh · 07/06/2019 09:57

Aww, Jo's super fan had his flag confiscated because it was too big.

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 10:00

Grin so rude. But quite funny.

Yes I totally agree, if these four women were different, more high profile players, this wouldn't have happened. Can you imagine the organisers saying to Serena, oh btw you're on the third show court?? I don't think so either!

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 10:02

Grin x-post. Yes it was all getting a bit Carry On Tennis with all the talk of measuring sticks and whatnot Grin

We were stopped from taking a banner in to one of Greg Rusedski's matches at Wimbledon once - although Henman flags were allowed! Hmm

I love Jo's dress. It looks like a ric rac dress I used to have as a kid (but different colours) - you know that wavy trim thingy?

Looks a bit breezy there. Konta's serve getting on my wick already.
