I'm torn . I love StanBear

But I also want to go with the player who has the better chance of beating Federer- and I think that might be Stef. Although Stan is playing well.

PrivateIsles · 01/06/2019 15:48

Yes I think you're probably right there. But what about Meyer - he could have a decent shot at beating Fed? (Well maybe)

Btw, did you see the end of Mahut's match yesterday - his son came down on court and they walked off together - Meyer was wiping away tears!! It was very sweet.

Apparently Mahut has got a wild card for Queen's and for the Wimbledon "qualies" Wink

They should just give him a wildcard into the main Wimbledon draw imho, after that godawful marathon match!!!

Aw, Mahut. Yes, they should just let him play anyway. They owe him!

Fed could easily have lost a set the other day- it was a close one. Meyer night have a chance. You never know.

Raahh · 01/06/2019 16:03

The women's game is very unpredictable- I'm not sure what it is about them- they can be wildly inconsistent ,the top players.

Kerber, Halep, Wozniacki, Osaka, Muguruza- all slam winners- all very vulnerable to early losses.

PrivateIsles · 01/06/2019 16:10

I was pondering earlier whether it's to do with the best of 3 format, as that's more likely to produce the upset than Bo5.

But then again it might have nothing to do with it....

Meyer was sobbing like a baby private Grin

One of the reasons I'm for Stan is because I also thought.....Stefanos will have lots more chances. But then we've said that about other bright young things before and look what happened (or rather, didn't) there......Dimitrov, for example Hmm

Raahh · 01/06/2019 16:23

Ooh, Coric has been Struffed.

PrivateIsles · 01/06/2019 16:25

Oh wow, Coric has been Struff'ed - 11-9 in the fifth! I turned the TV off in disgust earlier as both itv and Eurosport were managing to show two boring matches while that was at 8-all Hmm

Anyway. I wonder if Novak will be the next Struff-ee?! Doubt it somehow.

Yes, Dimitrov is a good example of the player who has not fulfilled the potential everyone said he had. Tour finals aside.

I always had high hopes for Raonic, but things have gone down hill since the end of 2016.

Thiem could still be the one to break through.

Someone has to!

Raahh · 01/06/2019 16:28
Grin

Old Struff is having quite a year!

magimedi · 01/06/2019 17:27

He's been strutting his st(r)uff. Grin

Raahh · 01/06/2019 17:46

Delpo doing well.

For a horrible minute, I though they were taking this off for Serena.

PrivateIsles · 01/06/2019 17:56

Yay well done JMDP! I see Delpo's Bakery was also open today - if only briefly Grin

Sam Smith, who I usually quite like, really doesn't like it when Serena is losing.
I don't really understand the love for Serena, personally. It's like a cult.

Raahh · 01/06/2019 18:59

I just briefly turned over to the Barty match, and they mentioned Dolgopolov.

Old Dogs- where did he go???? I loved him, (even let him beat Rafa at Queen's - he's on a 'list' Wink ). He was one of my tips for big things for a while. I liked him Sad.

Raahh · 01/06/2019 19:08

I like Kenin. The commentators are making out that she is the one with the attitude - er , come off it- she's playing Death threat Serena.

She has every right to have an attitude with Serena playing mind games at the other end of the court.

Raahh · 01/06/2019 19:10

Whoop!

Come on Kenin!

Raahh · 01/06/2019 19:18

Hurrah! She did it!

Raahh · 01/06/2019 19:19

I hate it, as usual- they are barely cheering, because it's all about Serena as usual.

And Sam is still talking about Williams. Hmm.

Raahh · 01/06/2019 19:21

They are booing.
It's shit.

kazzaD66 · 01/06/2019 19:23

Oh dear, Serena lost. But she's still a goddess and a mother Grin

Just saw the final point and don't like the way the way the crowd were almost booing at the end!

Raahh · 01/06/2019 19:35

It really, really annoys me Kazza. I'm not saying that Kenin does not look like a player who might irritate me in the future (she does have a bit of an attitude, and her favourite player is Sharapova [grin). But , you know, she beat Serena.

But, once again, it is a young girl , who has had one of the biggest wins of her career. And once again, because it was against Williams, she gets boos.

Before the tournament , Serena was pictured in a wheelchair. The commentary team were very coy about it, and didn't want to talk about it. What's the bet, we now find out about an injury ? because she's not long had a baby you know

PrivateIsles · 01/06/2019 19:36

I just caught the end of it but had the sound off so couldn't hear the crowd. They love a good boo at RG, don't they?!

Judy Murray really rates Kenin - from juniors playing against GB apparently.

Well, she should know.

Btw Raahh I think Dolgopolov is injured - I saw something about him on Twitter recently. Will try and find it.
