That last thread filled up quickly! Here's a new one for us.

As a PP said, I can't quite forget how vile Dom was to Malik in the early days, so his rehabilitation has never made me warm to him. It looks as though his troubles aren't over, though. Carol to the rescue?

Tonight's episode was back to being irritatingly unbelievable. So Eddie's child minder says the baby has a cold so Ben says that's fine she can come into hospital for the day. Yeah cos you want a baby with a cold hanging around sick patients.

And the whole police scene with Serena was so speedy and light it just made a joke. Plus when they took her photo for the police records against the height thing she showed as 6ft 9! So many things were just silly tonight.

EmeraldShamrock · 22/01/2020 00:09

It was comical I was confused it definitely needs a shake up maybe Jac acting in every scene.
I like Nicki too but overall I'm a bit bored of the other actor's.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2020 00:16

It def needs to be more cardio centered, esp once Kian is back. Jac, Fletch, Kian, Nikki. Cam and what's her name can have small parts. I like Donna and Xav tho. Perhaps they can swap to Cardio!

MyOtherProfile · 22/01/2020 06:48

Eddie's = Essie's

SoupDragon · 22/01/2020 07:15

when they took her photo for the police records against the height thing she showed as 6ft 9!

LOL. No it didn't - she's 5'9"

SoupDragon · 22/01/2020 07:16

I'm sad that Serena has gone.

MyOtherProfile · 22/01/2020 07:19

It did! I couldn't stop looking at it and called my DH to have a look!

MyOtherProfile · 22/01/2020 07:19

I'm sad too. Doesn't bode well for the future.

I looked on iPlayer and this is the shot used for the episode.

SoupDragon · 22/01/2020 07:29

Definitely not 6'9"

I don’t like Ric’s character at all now!! It wasn’t that long ago that he was up on the roof with a megaphone talking about the dire state the hospital is in, so I was surprised he want more supportive of Serena.

Also, has anyone watched Cruel Intentions? The scene at the end where Serena ‘outed’ Max’s intentions via the video link whilst Max stood at the front of room looking horrified, reminded me of the Cruel Intention’s scene where photocopies of the drug addicted bitch gets passed around the other students Grin

That’s really funny if they did have Serena as 6ft 9 Grin

Also thought Chloe was awful last week when Jac wanted to apologise to her and Nicki. I really liked Nikki last night when she told Jac that she had her back.

And as for the weird Registrar that Essie is dating - why was he acting like his world was falling apart, and according to Sacha “in a bad place”, just because Essie ended things after only a few weeks.

At the start of the scene where Essie was agreeing to another date enough though it meant she had dumped Isla on a babysitter two nights in a row despite not having seen her all day too - well, I lost a lot of respect of her!

It’s also ridiculous that Isla was bought into a hospital because of a cold and also ridiculous that she was deemed perfectly fine by a general surgeon as opposed to a Peadiatric doctor.

Overall though, I did like the episode, mainly because of the wonderful Serena. I have a feeling she will be back sometime in the future though. Fingers crossed!!

SoupDragon · 22/01/2020 07:32

I'm hoping Serena will be back too. She has left and returned before - maybe more than once?

MyOtherProfile · 22/01/2020 07:49

O my gosh I really do need glasses then!

SoupDragon · 22/01/2020 08:13

I wasn't wearing my glasses whilst watching - I didn't see what the numbers were at all! 😂

MyOtherProfile · 22/01/2020 09:00

Essie's current storylines are annoying.

Come back Serena!

MyOtherProfile · 22/01/2020 09:01

@SoupDragon Grin

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2020 12:15

Oh I cried a bit at Serena going, but glad the door is firmly open

GlitteryGracie · 22/01/2020 20:10

Oh I loved last night's episode, Serene is definitely one of the best characters and had some good one liners.

Rick is a little snake.

So, I've been surprised at that but actually DRAMA have been showing classic Holby in the daytime and honestly he's a bit of a dick in that too. He has his nice side for sure but he's not a totally good guy.

Essie though?? Urgh, ditching her newly "adopted" baby at the first sign of interest from a man. I'll have a lot less sympathy now when we get the inevitable "they're coming to take Isla away" storyline.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/01/2020 20:46

Yeah Rica always been pretty arrogant, he was an awful father to Jess and Co

burblish · 23/01/2020 19:23

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross - “Chloe is the centre of Chloe's world and everyone else is important only insofar as they impact on her.” - THIS, a thousand times! You’ve just summed up perfectly what bugs me about Chloe.

Don’t even get me started on Essie. I like the actress who plays her but wish they’d write the character out as she is just so awful (especially the way she uses Sacha). It seriously sucks to lose a powerful female character like Serena and be stuck with the insufferable Essie. I haven’t disliked a character this much since Adele Effanga!

burblish · 23/01/2020 19:29

(I mean, obviously the likes of John Gaskell and Evan are worse people in the Holbyverse but it feels as though the writers think the audience will find Essie and Adele to be enchanting and wonderful whereas they’re irritating as hell!)

SoupDragon · 23/01/2020 19:58

he was an awful father to Jess and Co

To be fair, he does freely admit this and tried to apologise for it.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/01/2020 21:19

Oh yes he's def mellowed, and def tried to make up for it with Darla esp. I was just agreeing he isn't traditionally a "nice" character

Nonnymum · 23/01/2020 23:21

I agree Ric hasn't always been a nice character but I think he has always been a bit of a rebel rather than a management person. Also didn't he end up in prison for neglect because he went to help Jason in a crisis so he wasn't at the hospital when his patient died. And he refused to tell Serena where he was. I think the old Ric would have stood up for Serena and Jason
