That last thread filled up quickly! Here's a new one for us.

As a PP said, I can't quite forget how vile Dom was to Malik in the early days, so his rehabilitation has never made me warm to him. It looks as though his troubles aren't over, though. Carol to the rescue?

I’ve been watching classic holby and casualty for that matter. Back in the day they were both medical dramas with the staffs private lives very much In the background

MaxPaddyandHarry · 25/01/2020 05:43

I suppose they ran out of medical ideas.

ChoccyJules · 25/01/2020 10:21

Will miss Serena but that episode was all over the place. There are such daft holes in it these days that it strays far from ‘continuing drama’ and well into ‘soap’.

MaxPaddyandHarry · 25/01/2020 10:48

I agree, it wasn't a great episode and they could have given Serena a better last episode. And why does nobody ever work out a notice period on Holby?

Elderflower14 · 29/01/2020 16:41

I've just watched the Holocaust Memorial episode... 😔 😔 😔 😔 😔
I've only been watching a year or so so didn't know the storyline re Sasha's aunt.
I've been educating my ds2 about the holocaust. I think it's so important that future generations never forget.

thegreylady · 29/01/2020 17:30

The Holocaust Memorial episode was one of the best I have ever seen. I liked the reminder that it wasn’t only Jews but gay people, gypsies and the disabled who were targeted.

MaxPaddyandHarry · 29/01/2020 17:31

I thought by and large it was a very good episode.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/01/2020 17:32

I thought last night's episode was very poignant, particularly the ghost of the sister who died as a child 'collecting' Sasha's aunt when she died. Some of the dialogue in these BBC dramas is a bit 'in your face teachy' though - such as when she explained to Dom about how the Final Solution targeted gypsies, gay people, communists, the mentally ill...That seemed a bit clunkily written in - I find it hard to believe that many viewers aren't informed about the Holocaust, particularly as it's now taught as part of the National Curriculum in schools. Still, I guess there is a need to remind people about where bigotry and intolerance can lead.

Have you watched The Windermere Children (I think it was on BBC2 on Holocaust Day)? Very sad but life-affirming too. Educational about the survivors without being horrific for children/teens to watch. I intend to watch with DD.

Cameron really is a nasty piece of work though, isn't he? Almost as bad as Chloe's ex. She really does pick them.

When Libby cried off sick in the morning, I was initially wondering whether she might be pregnant with Cameron's baby. That really would muddy the waters. I then realised that she pulled a sickie to fit in doing a well-paid locum shift - isn't that something she could be fired for doing?

SleepingStandingUp · 29/01/2020 19:29

I suspect the potential firing will come...

SleepingStandingUp · 29/01/2020 20:38

Cannot believe Cameron did that

It's OK. Xav will fund out and he'll bloody slaughter him.

spiderlight · 29/01/2020 20:54

I thought Sacha's aunt was magnificent last night - really nicely done. Poor old Sacha though :(

QueenofmyPrinces · 29/01/2020 21:20

I also loved Sacha’s aunt last night!

I couldn’t believe it though when she was taking sadly about when she and her sister were separated into lines and her sister was sent to the chamber, that bloody Essie made it all about her by saying, “That could have been my grandad” - or whatever she said. I felt like saying “fuck off Essie and just let the Aunt talk about her own experiences and feelings without you trying to steal the limelight!”

Anyhow....

I also can’t believe what a manipulative snake Cameron was last night. He was really, really awful.

SoupDragon · 29/01/2020 21:46

It would have been odd if they'd not mentioned Essie's grandfather.

I don't understand how Sascha's aunt was his aunt though if her sister died. I assume other family escaped? How many were running with them at the start?

I thought the episode was beautifully done. So heart wrenchingly awful when you remember that it was true.

MaxPaddyandHarry · 29/01/2020 22:54

Cameron illustrated perfectly how people with Autism can be vulnerable to manipulation. I love Jason and hope he gets credit for what he did.

EmeraldShamrock · 29/01/2020 23:05

Poor Sasha such a nice man far to good for Essie, she is such a sucker for a cheap line, treat me like shit all shift then takes him back. Hmm
I thought Cameron was about to let the patient die purposely. I get the feeling he will soon be a Doctor death type.

SleepingStandingUp · 30/01/2020 03:45

I liked the cleaner, being her back!!!

Optimist1 · 30/01/2020 07:21

I'm holding out hope that there was CCTV in the lift and Max decides to look at it. I think she's sussed that something's not right in the story.

Cam and Chloe deserve each other.

OP posts:
DickAmbush · 30/01/2020 08:21

Xav looked unconvinced too - I thought he may have overheard Jason or something - but even if Max DOES have her suspicions, she won't do anything because she's far too concerned with good publicity for the hospital, especially in the wake of the leaked article.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2020 08:23

I think Xav has the measure of Cam's ability and confidence levels in general. He just finds it unlikely that Cam could have done it.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2020 08:24

Didn't Cam hesitate when the lift opened and Max/others congratulated him? That might have aroused suspicions. There was definitely something "off" about their reactions (if you knew to look for it!)

SleepingStandingUp · 30/01/2020 08:39

I don't know that they would have thought Jason capable tho to be suspicious. So maybe a wow he actually did it, but not nah I bet Jason did it, iyswim.

I reckon Jason will have a panic over being asked to do some something, will mention medical insurance and then Xav will coax it out of him

DickAmbush · 30/01/2020 09:04

I reckon you're spot on about Jason and Xav there, @Sleepingstandingup!

SoupDragon · 30/01/2020 09:08

No, I don't think they necessarily think Jason did it but just that something is off about it all.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2020 09:12

I've just rewatched the lift opening scene and only Cam looks at all suspicious. No one else seems to suspect anything.

Not quite how I remembered it!
