No- he's falling apart because his ex is emigrating with their son. He's drowned his sorrows, and is going back to where he grew up in Irish care homes, presumably to confront his demons.

That cabin doesn't look very luxurious

I found it gripping, yes it was a bit slow but that is Shane Meadows style. Stephens acting as always exceptional.

I’m concerned Sinbad ripped him off with that deluxe cabin.
