Oh my God, I hadn't even made that connection with the head turning! Genius!

MummatoaMunchkin · 07/06/2019 16:27

Oh my god i have just finished watching episode 4! What with this series and finishing watching Chernobyl yesterday im feeling very anxious at the moment!

This series baffles me one minute its so close to home (refugees, politics) the next just too out there (wanting to get rid of her body, turning her hand into a phone!!)

Love the music though!

Daniels death 🙁

One thing that freaked me out too, that the Daniel character was born the same year as me, even though it started in 2019 i still thought they are older than me etc. But nope this is my lifetime and age (i hadnt thought about it till then!)

GeorgeTheBleeder · 07/06/2019 16:46

Now I realise why I haven’t been able to settle into anything productive today - substitutiting with solid MN and pottering. I do still feel really quite shaken by episode 4.

So beautifully put together. The key. The passport. Everyone looking in the wrong direction - at Edith as the potential first death. The way Signor is such a comforting device most of the time - but then becomes the medium for a communal bombshell. Awesome.

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/06/2019 16:54

Traumatic TV as all is so close to home. I wonder if it will flash back at the end and it is a warning to us rather than this having been reality. After all it started when he turned in the hospital

TheFirstOHN · 07/06/2019 16:57

RTD writes a great story. Doctor Who is not the same without him.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 07/06/2019 16:58

Doctor Who is not the same without him.

Truth!

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 07/06/2019 16:59

Ep 4 made me feel sick. The bit with the boat and the flashes of violence to blank screen really jarred me. It was the Lance moment (or I hope it was!) for anyone who’s seen Cucumber.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 07/06/2019 17:00

Who turned in hospital!? I’ve completely forgotten.

Oh I hope that happens.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/06/2019 17:38

Daniel. He had a monologue when he went to see Rosie in hospital, where he talked about how he was worried about everything, and that's when the leaps forward in time began.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/06/2019 17:40

Poor daniel

He was like cassandra

GeorgeTheBleeder · 07/06/2019 17:42

Aha! Yes, I remember now. Had misunderstood and thought the pp meant ‘turned over in bed’.

Hmm - I’m not sure now. Everything being a dream would surely only work if it was the dream of someone asleep or unconscious.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/06/2019 18:04

If it ends with Daniel coming out of the shower and turns out to all be his ex-husband's dream a la Dallas then I'll be most pissed off!

Is their a trailer for next week's episode yet?

dropletsofrain · 07/06/2019 18:10

It was the Lance moment (or I hope it was!) for anyone who’s seen Cucumber.

Oh god yes, that has stayed with me forever. Sad

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/06/2019 18:18

It ends with Daniel coming out of his daydream, how's to work and meets Victor .....
My guess

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/06/2019 18:18

Goes

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/06/2019 18:20

I just dont want daniel to be dead

If waking up in the shower means he isnt dead then i am all for that!

RuffleCrow · 07/06/2019 21:07

what an amazing series. Mind you, with Russell Tovey and Jessica Hyndes in the cast how could it not be? StarStar

RuffleCrow · 07/06/2019 21:09

*Hynes

SapphireBattersea · 07/06/2019 21:17

@CanILeavenowplease

I noticed her eye as well.

Eggproducer · 07/06/2019 22:07

Edith was in the doctors surgery when she took a call as well, wasn't she?

I think she is on her way out.

NurseButtercup · 08/06/2019 08:13

If it ends with Daniel coming out of the shower and turns out to all be his ex-husband's dream a la Dallas then I'll be most pissed off!

I'll be both pissed off but also relieved, it's been 4 days since I watched and I'm still traumatised.

This is brilliant brilliant TV!

GeorgeTheBleeder · 08/06/2019 08:21

The mere possibility that RTD might have a “fooled ya!” up his sleeve has considerably eased my trauma.

Earlier yesterday was horrid; Daniel-bereavement kept sweeping over me in waves. And the thought of Viktor and Gran and the siblings having to wake up and realise it again, every day, forever was just ghastly. So I’ll take the Dallas option if it’s offered.

SimonJT · 08/06/2019 08:25

@QueenOfTheAndals It’s because he passed as straight.

Asta19 · 08/06/2019 08:37

I’ll be disappointed if there is a “happy” ending. I think any show that can affect people so deeply has done a good job, so I wouldn’t want to see it backtrack and be “oh but everything’s ok in the end”. People are being wrenched from the people they love right now. They may not all do what Daniel did, most wont. But it’s horrible. And people are being sent back to unsafe countries. I was reading just the other day that quite a few people deported to Jamaica from the UK have been murdered, 5 in the past year apparently. Chances are they had someone here who loved them. It is happening right now. I don’t even know how many people have died on these kind of boats but it’s a lot. Our world is already messed up. It’s good to see this being addressed.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 09:29

george

Yep me too

Im guessing they’ve written the whole thing already

daniel reminds me of my son.
