Bran - ‘no one can kill the knight king.
Sansa - ‘no one can protect us...

And No-one did!!!

Apart from the darkness I loved it!!! (Very sad I only had a teeny tiny screen to watch it on though!!).

Even though (apparently) the 'GoT fanbase' aren't happy Arya killed the Night King I'm freaking delighted. Absolutely always loved her. (There does seem to be quite a lot of people who are also despite the apparently fan base opinion!!!)

There a good bit tweets about the foreshadowing to it being Arya - such as Arya's dance master saying to her about death, and Jon asking how she sneaked up on him in the same spot, Bran giving her the dagger etc.

Who knows if it was or just retrospective!!

Loved it (just wish I could see it better!!)

Tightarseparent1 · 30/04/2019 00:22

Red I thought it was perfect! She’s getting lots of support on a page I’m on - thousands.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 30/04/2019 00:38

Well , I liked it.
From now on all the people we ‘know’ have to have a good death.
Edd had a good, honourable death.
Lady Mormont has a good, honourable and meaningful death.
Theon had a good death, with redemption.
See Jorah had a good death doing what we expected and wanted him to do, saving his Khaleesi
Melisandre, she fortold that she would have to return to Westeros to die. Thank fuck she did something useful in the end. She was never ‘bad’ she just made mistakes. I really wanted to her redemption and she got it.
But more than anything I wanted Beric to have a purpose. Or what else was the reason for resurrecting him six times? And Beric. Thank goodness. He did had

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 30/04/2019 00:39

a purpose. To save Arya.
So she could kill the Night King.

RedForShort · 30/04/2019 00:44

I think we saw everyone (main character-wise) who is dead die didn't we? Each one seen to draw their last breath. Don't think there's any suprised deaths to discover (hopefully!).

Not too sure the husband's going to get over Lyanna Mormount being dead. We shall have to take a moment.

TheFirstOHN · 30/04/2019 00:51

I watched it after dark with no lights on in the room. I was able to see nearly everything.

OneInAMillionYou · 30/04/2019 00:52

I loved Melisandre in this episode. Did anyone notice at the end when she discarded her necklace, the ruby glowed for a moment and was then extinguished?

I've been mooching around the various fan sites, and so many people complaining that such and such a detail from the books wasn't included.
GoT the tv series is an entirely separate piece of creative work. Remember, for a long time it was, considered that GRRMs books were unfilmable because of the huge amount of detail.
To pull from those books a single credible narrative is a work of genius, in my opinion. The show runners met with GRRM three years ago when it was clear they were going to over take the books, and obtained from him the key plot points leading to the end.

I think there are still lots of surprises coming up in the remaining episodes. I think they were right to get the army of the dead storyline 'out of the way' in Ep 3. There is so much more to GoT and only so much you can do with the zombies once the shock has worn off!

What a fantastic episode! Shock

Lweji · 30/04/2019 00:57

I don't think Arya wore a white walkers face, the Night King would have noticed that for sure. She just ninja leapt from somewhere.

Watching the entire thing again, the WW turns when it feels a gust of wind. That would have been Arya running flying past them, probably. But she was no one.

I want to have a second watch but overall I really enjoyed it and the music was fantastic. There were a few bits that bothered me though. There have been so many fan theories about the crypts that the actual events seemed a bit flat. I’m not sure how so many survived in the crypts by hiding and it would have been good to have seen Sansa doing a bit more. There were quite a few bits that remained unexplained so hopefully there will be more backstory re the knight king, Bran etc.

OkPedro · 30/04/2019 03:41

I watched it a second time tonight in the dark! I wasn’t as nervous as I knew what was coming so I took a lot more in. It was amazing second time round. Answered a lot of my wtf questions 😅

Alicewond · 30/04/2019 03:44

I loved the whole episode but did struggle with the darkness. The only thing that bothered me was Ghost, there’s been no emotions shown between him and Jon, and Jon has previously help him back from this type of battle. Why send him on the front line? And why don’t Jon even so much as pat him on the head in the last few episodes. Seems like He’s been abandoned

Alicewond · 30/04/2019 03:45

Held not help

IceniSky · 30/04/2019 05:53

Confused by the ruby necklace. In a previous episode where the red woman takes a bath with Shireen's mum in the room, she isn't wearing it.

Do you think Bron will kill Tyrion and Jamie in a shock twist?

AfterLaughter · 30/04/2019 06:09

Jon with dragon is one of my favourite hero moments in the episode. Just standing there in front of it screaming. Makes me well up, bloody brilliant.

itswinetime · 30/04/2019 06:19

I'm not sure why people are upset it was Arya. It didn't matter to me who did it and I think it was also going to be a bit surprising not just Jon kills him which I think everyone kind of expected.

I think I know what my issue was now it felt like an ending (my fault for thinking the Night King was endgame) and it wasn't satisfying as there are still questions. But it wasn't it's half way, there is still time and maybe more answers to come. I don't think everything will be explained as pp said there is too much but I think we will have a few more reveals that will help things start to click in to place.

DryHeave · 30/04/2019 06:25

I can’t get over the fact the wights couldn’t escape a wooden box when they caught one to present to Cersei, but they can smash through stone entombment in a crypt.

BelfastBloke · 30/04/2019 06:30

At the beginning of the episode, when Melisandre came riding alone towards Winterfell, there was a moment where I thought she might undo her robe and get naked.

We've seen her do it so many times. It's her signature move.

fancynancyclancy · 30/04/2019 06:58

Ooh that’s good Tightarseparent1

fancynancyclancy · 30/04/2019 07:02

Watching the entire thing again, the WW turns when it feels a gust of wind. That would have been Arya running flying past them, probably. But she was no one Yes, that’s what I thought. She was just that little bit to quick for them to act.

Andonandonan · 30/04/2019 07:22

I have to pretend I haven’t seen it as DH was our last night so we are watching tonight. I couldn’t resist though.

So many tense moments. The Dothraki especially.

I thought Jorah was trying to say ‘I love you’ right at the end but just like in life it remained unsaid.

I feel like too many main characters were left standing though. It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a big shock death early on next week - maybe Bronn will finally arrive?

Andonandonan · 30/04/2019 07:22

Gah. OUT. DH was out.

Fazackerley · 30/04/2019 07:24

Yes.

RedForShort · 30/04/2019 07:25

I'm not sure why people are upset it was Arya.

Are they though? (Well obviously a few are, I've only seem one fragile male unable to handle it. Giving credit to all men that made Arya able to kill the NK (or some such twaddle).

I know someone up thread claimed the fan base weren't happy, but not seeing that myself.

I was thinking this morning who knows Arya is a skilled killer? Not sure who knows about the Freys. At the moment only Bran is aware she killed the NK (and he's not really the chatty sort) so will people know?

Davos noticed her fighting but that was it wasn't it?

DeadWife · 30/04/2019 07:27

Yes thought Jorah was saying 'I love you' also.

I like the theory that Sam is GRRM and goes on to write this story
Yes, I read an interview with him before it was all televised saying the character he most resembled was Sam.
