I think there’s a key part to be played out in why the mad king was mad... a hodor twist?

Honeyroar · 29/04/2019 23:17

Loopytiles I think all the major players were moments from death if Ayra hadn’t got the bullseye.

I watched an interview on the making of the episode and it was filmed by candlelight rather than real lights in places to make it look dark and gloomy. Doesn’t help if it’s on Now tv and your internet is slow and it’s glorious sunshine outside. Even if you adjust your brightness and contrast.🤫

ElenadeClermont · 29/04/2019 23:19

Theon gave himself to the weirwood tree. Just like Maester Luwin asked Osha to sacrifice him to the tree in the Godswood.

Ifonlygreywormhadatodger · 29/04/2019 23:20

@8dayweek I didn't think of that Shock wasn't it syrio who first told Arya about the many faced God's?
I'm off too Google some theories.

OrianaBanana · 29/04/2019 23:21

Jorah kungfu

kungfupannda · 29/04/2019 23:23

Oh yes, I forgot Jorah.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2019 23:25

I have partly watched again and come to the conclusion I will have to be patient and wait until it's dark to watch next week.

I thought the melancholy music went on a little bit too long for the scenes when jon was battling the ice dragon and theon fighting the dead away from Bran etc.

Gilly is alive I think - pretty sure she is at the front of the group of crypt survivors with little sam.

There are definitely too many main cast survivors given nearly all the dothraki were extinguished so quickly. I don't understand how the hound, Brienne, Jamie etc are supposed to have even survived the initial surge.

I also don't understand dany and jon's random fire breathing into the fighting masses. Were they supposed to be killing only the dead slightly to the side of the action or just keeping their fingers crossed that their army didn't get caught in the flames? Why didn't they go in with the dragons sooner?

Sweetsummerchild. So if r & L = J is so important for the throne in Bran's eyes the other options for the throne than Jon/his heir must be pretty bad - a euron cersei combo with qyburn as an advisor is never going to be an ideal option lets be fair! So the wtf moment could be Dany on the throne being killed once her army has won - kingslayer style?

Saw this on Facebook- sums up what I was like while watching it!

If i were Sansa then I'd make fucking sure I didn't bury any more bodies in the crypt at Winterfell. Burn them all, that's what I say Wink

What an episode.

Lyanna Mormont was a hero.

And I'm upset about Beric.

I don't think Arya wore a white walkers face, the Night King would have noticed that for sure. She just ninja leapt from somewhere. What an ending.

And now what! 3 more episodes?!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/04/2019 23:38

Just popping in to say, re Ghost, I'm pretty sure he comes running back just before Jorah reappears after the failed Dothraki charge, I think you hear him whining too. Am going to rewatch and check!

itswinetime · 29/04/2019 23:40

So second watching done in the dark with the lights off and brightness up is way better! (For the picture not my nerves 😂)

The quiet/lack of dialogue and the music was very clever I think and it really highlighted the important things that were said.

Still don't get bran's ravens he used them to show us to the Night King? Not sure that needed a creepy voice 'I'm going to go now' It was odd and there was definitely a moment between him and the night king right at the end, I feel like there is something more to come there, but that's very possibly wishful thinking on my part.

I'm still not sure I understand Melisandre either she follows a religion that exists to defeat the Darkness which she thinks is the night king? And she has been trying to do that from the start by finding the Prince that was promised to put him in the iron throne? But if she had a vision or Arya killing the NK in season 3 why go through all that with Stannis, and the many others she thought filled the prophecy! Why was she so old where did her magic necklace come from? And if she knew so much about the end why was she on the wrong side for so long? I'm not sure we will get any explanations there though as I feel her character is being used in the show now to mop up things that maybe in the books will fall to others! Which is why she doesn't always make sense.

Honeyroar 🤣

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 29/04/2019 23:42

I’ve never been so happy to see Arya. It had to be her, nobody else had the training. We all literally gasped when she flew out of the air only for the NK to grab her mid flight, and then punched the air in unison when she stabbed him.

LaurieMarlow · 29/04/2019 23:45

Yeah the use of Mel was irritating. No explanation where she came from, why she’s here now. then character slinks off at the end, with no development of the ‘being ancient’ story line they set up a couple of seasons ago.

I think her arc would have been very different in the books.

AnotherEmma · 29/04/2019 23:47

Arya had a pretty rocking 24 hours. Her first shag AND killed the Night King.

TheABC · 29/04/2019 23:47

So both of Jon's major battles have been saved by his sisters/cousins.

Poor bugger will never live this down.

TheweewitchRoz · 29/04/2019 23:54

I agree @MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig - made total sense for me that it was Arya - all of her training came good, rather than simply vengeance for Ned's death.

Tightarseparent1 · 29/04/2019 23:58

Argh just seen this on another site!

Bran and Sansa talking -

Bran - ‘no one can kill the knight king.
Sansa - ‘no one can protect us..

Aria is no one 😱😱😱

Tightarseparent1 · 29/04/2019 23:59

Yeah the use of Mel was irritating. No explanation where she came from, why she’s here now

To push Aria on and to generally help out??

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/04/2019 00:01

I don’t think Melisandre knew what she was seeing when she looked at Arya and made the prophecy about blue eyes. If she had she wouldn’t have pursued Stannis/Jon etc.

Huntlybyelection · 30/04/2019 00:03

Did mellisandre's predictions all come true? She had the right location (winterfell) just not the right Prince (stannis)?

I say this with no evidence at all.

Tightarseparent1 · 30/04/2019 00:04

Arya -

The Princess That Was Promised Shall Bring The Dawn.
Arya Stark has the blood of Kings and is the sister of a king. This means she’s a princess, the princess that was promised Shall bring the dawn, that princess is Arya.

She is the prophesised hero, Melisandre told her she’d shut Blue Eyes forever, wights and The Night King had blue eyes. Beric Dondarrion was brought back so many times because his final calling was protecting the princess, he had to stay alive until she was ready to perform her duty.

Let’s also not forget her name.

Arya- taken from the name Aria; a slow song.

Arya = Song

White Walkers = Ice

Dragons = Fire

A Song Of Ice And Fire.

George RR Martin also said “Pay attention to the Direwolf names, they’re important to the Starks.”

Nymeria is the name of Arya’s Direwolf. Nymeria was a Warrior Queen of the Rhoynar, who led her people to safety during a devastating war. Which is exactly what Arya did.

She saved Westeros, she saved the North. She saved her people and led them into a New Dawn. Arya Stark is The Princess That Was Promised.

C&P from another site

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2019 00:04

To push Aria on and to generally help out?

Well, ok sure, but she’s a fascinating character in her own right, why not explore her story?

Or, if there’s no time for that, don’t tease with that awesome scene a few series back where she’s revealed to be an old crone.

It’s the failure to tie up lose ends that I can’t stand.

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2019 00:06

Arya as TPWWP is interesting.

Where does that leave Jon I wonder?

Tightarseparent1 · 30/04/2019 00:15

laurie maybe they held back for prequels?

I think the shown the old crone to show she had been waiting a very long time for this moment, she had been waiting to die. Her walking in to the snow, taking off her necklace and going in to crone mode was her release to die.

If she hadn’t spurned Arya on to go find the night King they would all be dead
