We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Yikes. That should have been ML/FL. As an aside, apart from the troubled gay couple in the same apartment block in Cheese in the Trap, are there any other gay/lesbian couples in kdrama?

I've skippitydioodahed my way through Hospital Ship.. It's quite good and episodic.. Its like ER at sea! 😂

I’m only 15 min in and already tutting at the surgeon without eye protection because I’m mentally counting down to the first arterial face-splatter from the patient on the table.

Wow! I made it to episode 2 before arterial spatter, confounding my expectations. All the islands and the jolly sea-going make a nice change from wall-to-wall Seoul.

Interesting how furious the surgeon Dad at the regional hospital is about his son going into traditional Korean medicine. I hadn’t realised traditional Eastern medicine was still practiced in Korea. I knew about China, but not Korea.

I've started watching Two Cops (netflix)... It's a criminal spirit in a cops body thing! Good so far!... And there's an actual plot! Think I'll be watching in tandem with just between lovers..,

It’s amazing how it’s flat calm in that OR in the midst of a raging storm which has prevented the Coastguard getting out to the ship to medivac the guy with the arm injury. Flat calm in the OR and bridge, but pitching and rolling in the galley, where the documentary crew were hurling into buckets.

Hahaha. Using the electric resus paddles over clothing after applying gel to improve contact.

Daebak! There’s a brilliant soju bomb line-up in the team dinner in Hospital Ship ep3 @ 44mins. It was so good that I gave a little burst of applause. I like that they’ve all had a sachet of ‘hangover cure’ before getting started.

Just rewound the episode to show DH the soju bomb line-up. He enjoyed it so much he asked me to roll it back so he could see it again.

I’ve switched over to I picked up a celebrity on the street on viki which is shaping up nicely. The ML is the martial arts guy that So Ji Sub was training in Oh My Venus.

Just between lovers is great! It's so tortured and angsty...and sad! 😭

I'm waiting for all the secrets to be revealed.. Though I suspect that will only happen from episode 14 and onwards! 😭

Celebrity is quite fun. Sticking with it.

Hahahaha. In the saucy red dress scene I just spotted a Fimble on the bookcase behind ML. 😂
