And so it begins!

I must admit I love this programme mostly to watch the parents Blush Strong contenders for the unhinged parenting award are the PHd in Chemistry mum or the Twins' mum. She clearly thinks the world of her son and her daughter is a not so close second.

I always say that I'm glad my school years took place preinternet

But literally from this exchange with you I realise that I myself could've and would've found a school right for me and applied to it
had the internet existed

Which is sad really

Tottygirl71 · 02/03/2019 02:39

Hi everyone...semi finals was a tough one for them , sad to see all three of them go they truly are great kids,Ben was excellent what a come back .. FINAL TOMORROW Who is your winner???? ( I have my winner here lol) ...

BartonHollow · 02/03/2019 02:46

I would prefer Nishi or Ben out of those remaining based on factors that have nothing to do with any of the children themselves

Kneehigim · 02/03/2019 06:15

Nishi or Ishal for me.

LIZS · 02/03/2019 08:33

Ishal's school is named in today's paper - a girls' 3-18 independent. I suspect she may suddenly come into her own.

Whether she will still allow her uncle to micromanage her studies in years to come is another matter. At some point these "geniuses" need to become independent learners to progress and no amount of parental interferenceinvolvement will help. At least none of these children seem emotionally stifled, yet, and have other interests.

RhodaChrosite · 02/03/2019 12:22

Nishi for winner for me. Though would be very happy for Ishal and Ben if either of them win too. I was so disappointed for Connor, Harry and Sam. Anyone who got through to that stage could easily have won. It really did come down to whoever got a letter wrong first.

JuniorAsparagus · 02/03/2019 16:00

I've just read that Richard Osman isn't going to do another series.Sad I think he has been much better than the previous presenter who seemed a bit stern.

Whisky2014 · 02/03/2019 16:08

Well, when he asked the kids if they ever shut up I wondered if he was the right man for the job to be honest!

2rebecca · 02/03/2019 16:20

I don't mind which one wins now. I think Richard Osman has been fine in the job.

BartonHollow · 02/03/2019 16:22

Richard seems like a nice bloke, the format may have given him similar misgivings

MsChookandtheelvesofFahFah · 02/03/2019 16:44

Blimey, god forbid he has any rapport with them...Hmm

Lisad1231981 · 02/03/2019 17:05

I found it frustrating as a bright kid to have parents who put no thought into education and only wanted me to leave school and get a job. I ended up pushing myself. As for dd1, she is very bright and has two scholarships to a private school. It is a careful balance parenting a bright kid but we aren’t pushy, she’s hard enough on herself!
I’m sure they are all nice people but some of these parents need to let the kids have a childhood!

Whisky2014 · 02/03/2019 17:52

Did I say he shouldn't have a rapport with them? It was the words "do you ever shut up" i found a bit brutal. "Shut up" is a horrible thing to say and I dont think anyone would say that to a group of adults in a competition.

JuniorAsparagus · 02/03/2019 18:31

He said it in a jokey way and they all laughed.Confused

Whisky2014 · 02/03/2019 18:52

I agree the children laughed, but i didnt think it was too jokey on his part. Anyhoo, not that important dont want to derail thread about it. I dont care who hosts it.

MadauntofA · 02/03/2019 18:57

Do you think they make any allowances for the age difference- do the 8yr olds get very slightly easier questions compared to the 12yr olds?

Shimy · 02/03/2019 19:06

“Grrrr stop asking me questions!”

Grin
MadauntofA · 02/03/2019 19:33

That's a brave choice - shouldn't it be something he really knows/ is interested in?

Shimy · 02/03/2019 19:44

Wow! very happy William got through. There's something about the most relaxed dc (in my opinion) have done so well. Ishal just seemed so tense, and her uncle/dad? seems like a nightmare! this is the first episode i'm watching this yr.

BartonHollow · 02/03/2019 19:58

Yay Nishi ❤️

NCforthisoneb · 02/03/2019 19:59

Blimey! William’s mum saying he’s her golden boy whilst his sister rolls her eyes! 😱

cocomelon23 · 02/03/2019 20:01

That's exactly what I was going to say. I feel really sorry for Williams sister. I'm so glad Nishi won Smile

LIZS · 02/03/2019 20:01

That was impressive , but in the end her passion for her subject and self starting attitude won through.

RhodaChrosite · 02/03/2019 20:03

Nishi is so composed and such an amazing girl. I couldn’t believe what Williams DM said something on the lines of him being her favourite thing in the whole world and her golden boy in front of his sister. That is unforgivable. Nishi is so self motivated and has done everything herself rather than her parents transferring their knowledge into her head. Not to underestimate William but this was his mother’s project.

Mammajay · 02/03/2019 20:04

Poor William's sister and poor William with such an obsessed ridiculous mother. Congratulations to Nishi and her lovely normal loving parents.
