And so it begins!

I must admit I love this programme mostly to watch the parents Blush Strong contenders for the unhinged parenting award are the PHd in Chemistry mum or the Twins' mum. She clearly thinks the world of her son and her daughter is a not so close second.

Michael's mum came across as an absolute loon.

Tottygirl71 · 27/02/2019 13:10

Mmmm.. 🤦‍♀️ no comment lol ,I stayed away we said hello then goodbye ,

evaperonspoodle · 27/02/2019 13:17

Thank you evaperonspoodle x

evaperonspoodle · 27/02/2019 13:20

Yes it's always nice to have one 'normal' family thrown in there to counteract the other 10 nut jobs. I still cannot hear the name Aliyyah and not think of a child drinking a 'green juice' whilst undergoing space boot therapy.

My lips seeled lol

PrincessScarlett · 27/02/2019 13:27

Was it you with the mobile phone tottygirl?!!

Tottygirl71 · 27/02/2019 13:38

Nooo..PrincessScarlett but it wasn’t far from me ... could of been Michaels mums phone 🤔🤔 nah I’m only joking but it was very close by ...

zen1 · 27/02/2019 14:39

I always have much more respect for the children who entered themselves. Can’t bear the pushy parents and those living their lives through their children. Best of luck to Connor.

Dudleydunstable · 27/02/2019 17:18

Connor is a credit to you Totty. I’m rooting for him. He seems a very grounded, regular boy who just happens to be incredibly gifted. Must have been a really interesting (and eye opening) experience taking part.

BartonHollow · 27/02/2019 17:33

Connors parents (waves) are definitely the most normal there

The unbearably smug one with the "very bright daughter" yet "profoundly gifted son" 😱😂

I also found Dans parents admirable

They've recognised that as good as it is for him to win, he needs to learn to lose and the experience could be good for rounding him out

He also has a very mild but noticeable disability they have made neither a fuss nor a sob story out of. (Thus far watching ep2 with my tea)

Davros · 27/02/2019 19:41

Hahey, Connor's from Tottenham so got to support him Smile

Whisky2014 · 27/02/2019 20:07

Ben's dad = David Brent

MsChookandtheelvesofFahFah · 27/02/2019 20:31

Gosh, very emotional saying goodbye to Dan there.

Whisky2014 · 27/02/2019 20:36

I cried Blush

MadauntofA · 27/02/2019 20:44

Wow, isn't Ben's me money amazing!

MadauntofA · 27/02/2019 20:44

Memory

Whisky2014 · 27/02/2019 20:48

Yeh, that was impressive.

purpleme12 · 27/02/2019 20:50

Just watching yesterday's
God not a fan of Michael's mum
Did make me laugh when after all her fuss Michael says he thinks it's all a big fuss about nothing really!

RhymingRabbit · 27/02/2019 21:05

I find it really hard to watch. I couldn't cope if one of my kids wanted to be on it! It just seems like so much pressure for them. It is interesting to see their coping mechanisms - like the wee boy yesterday who said he only lost in this universe and in all the other universes he won so it's "just luck really". Wee soul.

viques · 27/02/2019 21:24

Ishals uncle is more than a bit spooky. Shudder. What happened to being a fun uncle.

Lisad1231981 · 27/02/2019 21:36

I watch this every year with my eldest daughter who is gifted and has a high IQ. We do giggle at all the mad parents and ty and do the maths and spellings.
We love Dan, Connor and Nishi. Their parents seem the most normal especially considering past parents 😬
There is two parents this year, Williams mad mum and the twins mum. I’m shocked by her comments about her daughter 😡

LIZS · 27/02/2019 21:46

Ishal's uncle seems quite driven and controlling. i wonder if he is funding the top private polo playing school.

BartonHollow · 27/02/2019 21:58

Ishal is another candidate who'll be posting somewhere about family dysfunction as an adult

"My parents gave full control of every aspect of my life to my Uncle I was a weekly boarder and they still sent me to his house to study almost every weekend"

Lisad1231981 · 27/02/2019 21:58

Liking Ben too
