I fell asleep early, I think all the drama of the last couple of weeks is getting to me now.

I'm struggling to find much to cheer for in the tennis, but I'm plodding on.Grin. I saw Djok had a minor wobble.

I'm hoping this week starts with good news, and is relatively drama free!

Raahh · 25/03/2019 11:14

Just to add to my rubbish day, my tv and internet have gone off. Bloody useless Virgin.

Raahh · 25/03/2019 17:27

Dimitrov has lost, he's been struggling with injury since Melbourne, I think. His career is very up and down, must be really frustrating for him.

PrivateIsles · 25/03/2019 18:59

I hope your TV and internet have returned Raahh! The horror!! Any news on your dog? Hope he's ok.

Poor Grigor. It is very frustrating isn't it? He's such a great player to watch, but he's so prone to losing matches to players ranked much lower.

They mentioned during his match against Lopez that he's not working with Agassi anymore, which seems a shame. Not sure if that was always meant to be a temporary thing or what.

I see it's raining in Miami ATM. Shaggy plays later I think. Not sure about anyone else...

In other news Smile Rafa and Delpo are both in the entry list for Madrid. So that's good, although whether they'll actually play or not is a different story.... But we can hope!

JaneJeffer · 25/03/2019 20:01

Hope your doggy's ok Raahh

I'm laughing at the idea of Sascha being beaten by his own racquet Private Grin

The internet finally returned, and the dog is home.
He seems to be holding me personally responsible for his vet stay, and is being very sulky with me.

I'm not sure about Grigor and Agassi, he doesn't seem to stick with anyone long.

I think Stefanos is playing later and Ferrer is playing Tiafoe, that would be a good win for David.

I'm making no more predictions, in case I jinx anyone.

JaneJeffer · 25/03/2019 20:23

Aww. You'll have to bribe him with some treats.

PrivateIsles · 26/03/2019 11:28

That's good Raahh, hope the pooch is out of his sulk now!

Rafa has been practising on clay I see - yay!

And Ferrer lost to Tiafoe - great tournament for David though. Hope he takes Sascha's lucky racquet to Madrid Smile

Raahh · 26/03/2019 12:12

It has been good for David, I hope he can stay fit to play on to Madrid, I'm pretty sure that's his last tournament.

He will be missed.

The dog is in a better mood todayGrin. I'm just hoping he doesn't get ill again any time soon!

Good news about Rafa, I really hope he can do well in the clay season, - it would be huge to replicate what he achieved last year- and the the year before- especially with Djok back. But I really hope he can.

PrivateIsles · 26/03/2019 17:06

I really hope he can replicate it Raahh! I'm not sure about Djok you know. I don't know if I can really see him winning RG... especially when Rafa is already
preparing for the clay season... well we'll see.

But I think/hope Thiem has a better chance of winning RG than Djok - after Rafa of course.

I quite want Stan to go into full Stanimal mode for RG though - would love that Grin

PrivateIsles · 26/03/2019 17:14

Meanwhile... Isner's kit is making my eyes hurt...

Raahh · 26/03/2019 17:27

I agree that Djok might struggle more at RG, mentally it seems to affect him, and Rafa she is up a gear in Paris.

He might have more chance in Rome or Madrid.
12 titles for Rafa in Monte Carlo, Barca, and RG would be amazing though.

Raahh · 26/03/2019 20:10

I've been score watching, glad to see Coric beat Kyrgios.

kazzaD66 · 26/03/2019 20:21

That's good Raahh but unfortunately, Isner beat Edmund. Hope your week is getting better.

PrivateIsles · 26/03/2019 21:06

Typical Isner, two tiebreaks Hmm
Kyle should have won the first set I thought. I didn't see the second though as someone DS "borrowed" my tablet at that stage... but the first wasn't too exciting. Isner was wearing this sort of patterned shirt with weird angles and colours that made it even worse viewing!

I thought Kyrgios was going to win today, but good on Coric, I guess the commentator will have to find another "box office" player to discuss!

PrivateIsles · 27/03/2019 00:04

Wow RBA! Well what a turn up. Maybe Djok's revival is going to be short-lived?

I just remembered Isner is the defending champ Hmm

Raahh · 27/03/2019 06:29

I went to bed , when RBA had well and truly lost the first set.
So I'm delighted he turned it around.
Sad about Stefanos, although I do like Shaggy.

mama1980 · 27/03/2019 07:59

Glad to hear your dog is doing better raahh - fingers crossed the rest of your week goes smoothly!

Pleased to see RBA won, what happened to Novak though? he was well in control when i stopped watching.
The commentators for Nicks match were driving me crazy, so for that reason I'm relived he lost, all credit to coric for just quietly playing his own match.

Raahh · 27/03/2019 08:45

Thanks mama, got to take him to the local vet just to check him over, he's a bit skittish thus morning, but I think the weekend just traumatised him!

I have been reading a bit more this morning- Djok is full of excuses, he seems to be implying that the off-court drama surrounding Kermode/Atp has affected him and his game.

I keep forgetting Isner is the defending champion, too.
That match ended a bit controversially from what I gather- noise from the crowd that affected Kyle, but the umpire didn't do anything?

magimedi · 27/03/2019 09:18

Go! Bustagut! Tennis

PrivateIsles · 27/03/2019 12:41

Good results overnight for you magi what with Shaggy winning as well! Tennis

PrivateIsles · 27/03/2019 12:47

Djok is blaming the kermode stuff? Hmm
Hmm Hmm

Raahh · 27/03/2019 12:58

Private in the article I read, he said he had too many things going on off court. It's fairly obvious what he's referring to. He also says he's not 100% physically and a bit rusty.

But- RBA also beat him in Doha, and took his chances when obviously Djok lost his hold on the match.

Could it be another blip? Time will tell, I suppose.

Raahh · 27/03/2019 13:08

And blimey, Kyrgios really is an idiot. I have just read more about his match ( because I couldn't watch it), and apparently he says he was 'bored' during it, and at one point he started to mimic Fed's serve.

I don't know why he bothers playing at all. There are plenty of other players who sweat through qualifying to get a place in these tournaments. He just plays when he can be bothered, and doesn't bother to hide it, when he can't.

kazzaD66 · 27/03/2019 14:40

I also saw something about Djok blaming the Kermode situation and the grief he got from Rafa and Roger about it Hmm My first thought was - well, you shouldn't have done what you did then; second thought was - grow up!

I read that Kyle stopped playing at 3-5 in the second set tie break cos someone in the crowd called a ball out and then the umpire refused to replay the point. It wasn't Isner's great mate, the quiet and unassuming Justin Gimelstob by any chance, was it?
