Well, today it's the dog's turn to be ill. Sad.
I've had to leave him at the vet, and he will end up being referred to an out of hours surgery possibly later- which is bloody miles away- for surgery (maybe).

I have had enough this week.

I saw that Thiem lost, which is a shame.

mama1980 · 23/03/2019 16:38

Oh no raahh you really are having a crap week. I hope your dog is ok, when will you get news?

The shap v Evans match is good, the commentators on the other hand are not grrrr.

Raahh · 23/03/2019 17:45

Thank you. mama.
Dh has taken him to the vets, looks like he will need surgery.
I'm fed up.Sad.

Stan Bear seemed to be doing well, but the second set was a bit one sided.

Well done to Shaggy!

Raahh · 23/03/2019 19:30

Oh, Sad- Stan was so close.

PrivateIsles · 23/03/2019 19:54

Oh Raahh that's no good at all - hope all will be ok.

I've just tuned in to Lopez v Dimitrov - looks like a straightforward first set for Grigor. But Feli has the best kit. I like his piping - not a euphemism Grin

Raahh · 23/03/2019 20:59
Grin

Private Dh left him at the vet, over (annoyingly they are going to repeat all the same tests we've already paid for, well ,on the insurance, but it's still frustrating).

I miss my pooch. Sad. It's daft, but he really has been the thing that has got me out of a severe hole in the last few years. Sad.

PrivateIsles · 23/03/2019 21:18

Oh I hope he is back home where he belongs v soon. That sounds like the last thing you need at the moment. Brew

I just saw a clip of Opelka (7ft tall or whatever it is) v Schwartzman Shock that has got to be one of he biggest height differences in a match ever surely?!

Raahh · 24/03/2019 08:57

Private Grin

I fell asleep about 9.30 Blush.

YY, that's some height difference.
I woke up this morning to see Ferrer beat Sascha! I said Sascha can be a bit inconsistent, and there are few players who can fight the way David does. Bit of a Spanish trait, really.

I see Federer was pushed a bit by Albot, too. He's coming in to a stream of good form, at 29! Grin.

PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 14:19

Yes that's a shocker from Sascha really, no offence to David of course. Apparently Zverev has been ill or something? Not sure what's up with him, but he has a fair few points to defend over the next couple of months...

Raahh · 24/03/2019 14:37

I'm not sure what is happening with Sascha, but David clearly saw his chance. I do think that Sascha, a bit like Dimitrov, is often vulnerable to early losses. I'm not sure if it's an attitude thing.

I saw that Osaka had a bit of a shock loss too, to Hsieh, who beat Halep at Wimbledon, so no stranger to knocking out the big players.

Raahh · 24/03/2019 14:39

Im still waiting on news about the dog, who is still with the vet.

I had to walk dd2 to the park instead. Wasn't the same, she talks too much. Grin.

PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 16:37

Hope you get some good dog news soon.

I have just been reading that last time they played, Sascha gave David one of his racquets as a "retirement" present Grin it's sweet but... Well, I think beating him in the next tournament was rubbing it in a bit much David! Grin

Raahh · 24/03/2019 16:58
Grin

Yes, that's a bit of a kick in the teeth.

PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 17:39

Hopefully he didn't use the actual racquet in the match Grin

Raahh · 24/03/2019 17:44

That would be funny.
Grin

Raahh · 24/03/2019 18:10

I've realised my list of possible winners for the tournament, has been decimated.Sad

Stan, Marin, Sascha, Dom, - all out already.

I'm hoping Stefanos and Milos can keep going. I really don't want a Djok or Fed win.

PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 18:20

I know. Reality bites eh?Sooner than usual though!

I saw some of that Cilic - Rublev match yday - Marin was not good Sad made loads of errors. Rublev played well though. I do quite like him but Cilic is not having a good season so far, is he?

PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 18:21

Rublev plays Shaggy next!

Raahh · 24/03/2019 18:35

Poor Marin peaked at Queen's last year and seems to have gone steadily downhill since then.

Rublev is definitely one of the good up and comers.

I said that quarter would end up being a Next gen battle.

Raahh · 24/03/2019 19:01

Oh, ffs, Milos has lost the first set against Kyle.

I'm a jinx.

(I also don't support Brits just for being Brits.Grin I like Kyle- but I much prefer Milos).

Raahh · 24/03/2019 19:07

In doggy news, he is still at the vets, until at least tomorrow lunchtime, and although we are insured, I am beginning to panic (he had treatment last year, which will have eaten in to how much they will cover). I will sell a child. maybe

I am really missing him. Sad

Raahh · 24/03/2019 19:51

Oh heck, and now Milos has lost Sad.

I'm rubbish. Grin

Federer for the win! Grin.

PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 19:53

It must be awful waiting to hear - and the bills, omg. My sister's dog was at the vets recently and the bill was eye popping - they had insurance too but still. It must be v worrying Flowers

Raonic is out - I just saw the last couple of games. The commentators were saying he was injured but I'm not sure what the problem was Sad he's had really bad luck with injuries hasn't he?

Kyle plays Isner next so he probably has a good chance in that one.

Raahh · 24/03/2019 20:02

I hate the fact it is reduced to money (and boy, does it bring home how grateful I am for the NHS. Dh is half American, so knows very well how much health care can cost, and the problems is causes).

I would love Kyle to topple Isner.

I saw the story about Opelka being affected by the glare of the sun on all the glass they have used in the stadium.

At 4ft 8, it probably wouldn't have affected me Grin.

I also saw that another player, Kuhn, passed out the other day due to the humidity, and was very unwell.

Federer has (indirectly, of course he's not going to moan specifically), said the stadium is a bit odd in the way they've designed it. He didn't seem keen. But he doesn't even like changing from his favoured courts at tournaments, so...

Grin
PrivateIsles · 24/03/2019 20:57

Is Kuhn the guy who played Mischa Zverev? If so I saw that match - he just keeled over flat on his face almost - it was awful.

So true about the NHS - the alternative doesn't bear thinking about IMO!

I am already in bed Grin reading (sort of) - I could watch some tennis but don't have much enthusiasm for it at the mo... Maybe tomorrow!
