Yes ‘tis fab all modern but they are swishing around the palace in robes and flouncing about. Set in a modern SK that still has a royal family. Sort of like a soap opera on steroids with plot machinations aplenty.

Only the baddies are snogging at the moment, true romance is going to take a while to become apparent as everyone is in love with the wrong person

I liked Im NOt a RObot, not top 10 but enjoyable, on a par with Shopaholic Louis

Just watched 10 min of Big (kdrama) with DS2 because it was the only kid-friendly one. Gong Yoo is in it. DS, despite having watched virtually no kdrama and Gong Yoo having completely different hair/shot from an odd angle as heroine is falking down some stairs, pipes up “wait! we’ve seen him in something before!” He watched a bit of Goblin with me over Christmas.

Just finished Healer tho loved it. Now on to suspicious partner 😃

Doh! Started watching The Moon Embracing the Sun instead of The Last Empress. I kept thinking: “but Betty said had a modern setting. This must be a flashback to Joseon times to set the scene... Surely it should have jumped forwards by now. Ohhhh!”

Hahaha boatyardblues! But did it pass the 10 min test? I’m now on ep 12 of The Last Empress & just can’t stop! Choi Jin Hyuk has just been swimming & boy is he fit!

Ivalue you must have been seriously bingeing to finish Healer already! Shopaholic Louis is fun but not in the same class as Healer

I have Betty. Had a snow day then the in laws came to take dc for the night. DH has been watching football so I binge on Healer has been lovely.

Thanks Betty. CJH has just appeared in ep6 after the Rocky montage. Are we expected to believe he is the tubby mad man made buff? 😂😂😂

Well, of course I skipped straight from ep 6 to ep 11. I won’t bother with the first 5, but I may watch eps 7-10 if you promise me there’s lots of CJH.

Yes he’s in it a lot, you won’t have all the back story but I’m not sure that that matters 😆

I think I can work out the bigger stuff:

Tubby mad man: emperor killed his mother in a hit and run, so he wants revenge. Somehow he took a bullet in the head. Palace snake/mistress was his girlfriend, but is an opportunistic snake so is now the emperor’s squeeze. Don’t know who the little boy they rescued is, but whatever.

Emperor: had a wife who died. The smarty pants kid (Lady) is his daughter, but he’s handed off childcare to the AbFab princess, who has all the markings of a Disney evil stepmother. He comes across as a cold, sekf-serving twat.

New empress: vapid, impressionable, a bit of a wet rag TBH but heart of gold (TM) in classic self-sacrifacing kdrama mould. Grand Dowager has taken a shine to her and will, no doubt, prove to be a powerful ally.

Palace snake: will do whatever secures her position, regardless of how many people she screws over. Dowager Empress & her would waste less of everyone’s time if they just duked it out cekebrity death match style. Let’s face, there’s probably at least 8 episodes accounted for by their epic power struggle.

I’m a bit stumped by Mr Writer and how the sassy sister fits into things.

Do you think the palace guards have Totes socks with a bit of grip on the soles so they can get traction on those slippery, polished wooden floors when they need to run?

Little boy is palace snakes kid, and she bashed mad tubby mans mum over the head with a rock before emperor ran her over, so is equally complicit in her death

Writer man is emperors bro so a prince & a rival to the throne of emperor doesn’t have kids
