Double episodes on Thursday : Friday is football!

youarenotkiddingme · 20/01/2019 17:37

Well considering Mel now owns E20 or at least some of it her absence won't go totally unnoticed!

nancy75 · 20/01/2019 17:55

I’m guessing that we are supposed to know that Mel & Munter have gone off wherever they were going (I think that was their plan after Ray died) and at some point they will reappear & the body will be found.
They do these stories so badly - we know from before that Ciara is Ray’s sister:

  1. How come Ciara knows Mel & Munter but pressumably knows none of the other wives or kids?
  2. Why didn’t Ray ever mention Ciara?
  3. Why wasn’t Ciara at the wedding? Surely it’s normal for siblings to attend each other’s weddings?
It’s like they forget the back story & think we will have forgotten it too.
FizzyOrange · 20/01/2019 18:12

This story about the football feels like a filler and is just so boring.

How come so many adults were on the square ready to join in with the ridiculous football coaching? Even Adam the dentist! Does he live on the square?

PatricksRum · 20/01/2019 18:30

And how did Mitch know everyone by first name?

PatricksRum · 20/01/2019 18:37

Potato I, too, thought the Rabbi wasn't real.
This drug storyline is so unrealistic and dragging. Envy

PatricksRum · 20/01/2019 18:43

& do we think Rainie is preggers?

The80sweregreat · 20/01/2019 18:57

I don't think Rainie is pregnant; my hunch is we might be heading for her going a bit crazy / delusional and pretending to be Abi's real mum!
Max will blame her for the missing money and might even throw her out? They do have a volatile relationship.

nancy75 · 20/01/2019 19:08

I don’t like the drug/gang story but I do think it’s fairly realistic (apart from Evie, I think it’s very unusual for the gang leader to be a girl.)
The trouble is I’m just not that interested in the characters involved.
Rainier will definitely get the blame for the missing money, Max will think she has been taking drugs again & think that’s why she’s ill

FizzyOrange · 20/01/2019 19:20

I'm not interested in the drug/gang characters either. They are all new and so it is difficult to care about any of them. Same with Mitch - he was around a while ago for a few episodes but he isn't really an established character.

southeastdweller · 20/01/2019 19:33

The drug story is so tame. I know it's before the watershed but gangs in London operate on a dangerous level, so this story feels like something out of Grange Hill. And the young lady who plays Evie is very annoying and unconvincing in the way she talks (she's from Ipswich and can't do a proper Cockney accent at all).

dogsdinnerlady · 20/01/2019 19:36

The amount of analysis and thought that goes on in these posts is just incredible. But, sadly, all a complete waste of our combined intellect. The bald fact is that all the characters on the square and utter f...ing idiots.
That's it really. We should all be doing something amazing with our time instead of attempting to figure it all out.
Am off to redesign the whatsit collider thingy!

dogsdinnerlady · 20/01/2019 19:37

..are utter...

arriettyspiders · 20/01/2019 19:43

I'm sure the BBC have researched their storylines, especially involving drugs, and it's all realistic in that sense. Perhaps it's the acting of the scenarios, and the casting. Evie is particularly jarring. Apparently, also, there have been complaints about the inappropriate nature of scenes involving 'Tiff' and Dennis.

Oh no, the football scene! That sort of thing makes me want to rethink watching the programme, and I've been on these EE threads for years!

arriettyspiders · 20/01/2019 19:45

Yes, I think that's it, southeast!

Dogsdinner, you may have a point Grin

PatricksRum · 21/01/2019 09:24

This. Convincing a little "rich"? Boy to get involved, why? He has no loyalty to you. It's utter rubbish. Doesn't work like that.

Akire · 21/01/2019 09:27

Problem with Tiff is she 16 and Denny is 11/12 so no way at all she does fancy him. If it was boy girl the other way round it would be more believable.

PatricksRum · 21/01/2019 09:40

Yeah I wondered about the age difference

SoupDragon · 21/01/2019 10:03

She obviously doesn't fancy him but a 12/13 year old boy will probably be flattered by the attention and not realise that.

Bloominglovely · 21/01/2019 10:06

What eleven year old would go to hang out with a much older group on his own? If he had an older sibling in the group already then it might make more sense but as they all hang around the square and the swings, surely somebody would sense something wasn’t right? And Keanu and Keegan are always hanging around and know that group and would say something to Phil surely? It isn’t as if Evie ‘lies low’, she spends an extraordinary amount of time on the square wearing shorts and tights in freezing weather conditions. People would look at her automatically.

SoupDragon · 21/01/2019 10:08

Denny is Y8 so 12-13 and basically has no friends his own age. I suspect he'd be happy that some people want him in their group.

nancy75 · 21/01/2019 10:35

The Denny part of the story is not realistic, these gangs get kids to join with the offer of new trainers & stuff their parents can't afford to buy them.
Denny has everything he wants & 2 stay at home parents! I can see that he would be glad of friends but he is not the sort of kid a gang would target to join (keagan is much more the type they would go for - mum that can't afford to get him new stuff, chaotic home life)
Denny would be the kid they would want to get taking drugs as he can afford to pay for them

SoupDragon · 21/01/2019 11:07

Isn't Evie specifically targeting Denny because Phil shouted at her or something?

The80sweregreat · 21/01/2019 11:41

Phil was nasty to Evie in the cafe.
I'm sure this plays a part with her wanting devil child on board ( with his drone)

Akire · 21/01/2019 12:15

Debbie was always going to be ganster child. So guess this is way to start, how many hundreds of hours will this story line take?
