Very* worried about new producer. Especially after all the debacle with Sean wotsit as exec producer before who was beyond shit! It fits in with the theory I heard that the Beeb want to get rid of Eastenders. But that doesn't fit with going over budget on new set, surely?

Tobee: I agree why spend millions on a new set then scrap the soap? I can't see it going anywhere for a while now they have done this. They will just have to up the anti on the story lines!

Surely they won’t get rid of EE? I can understand why, it’s gone so depressing and miserable, but it’ll still bring in loads of viewers.

I guess it's finding new and wonderful stories that's the hard part ; they become ever more sensational and a bit silly! It's been going for years now so it's hard to keep it fresh and they end up recycling the characters etc.

It’s funny how they can do storylines like Ruby’s rape so bloody well (and that’s a hard subject to do justice to) and then just fire shit at the wall and see what sticks wrt Alfie, Mel/ray etc.

Maybe they shd go back to more people based stories. Trouble is , that's boring I guess.

I agree, The80s - people based stories are the way to go. Viewers' interest would be maintained by humour, misunderstandings, secrets, etc without having to have a different death/non-death issue every week.

I call 4 non deaths/ resurrections over the Christmas period because I include thinking Mick had killed Stuart.

I wondered if the Slaters and the pub kitchen were part of the new set as we are seeing different camera angles in them.

New set isn't meant to be ready until 2021-2023

That's a long time to build a few sets!
What are they doing? Gold taps? A new vic pump room? New allotment? A hairdressers for Sharon ( when she comes back?) more extensions at the Slaters?

Nice to see some of the actors are doing the London marathon for dementia ( also for Barbara Windsor) and raising awareness of this awful disease.
