You would know if you'd seen the original. It would be seered on your mind's eye.

purpleme12 · 22/12/2018 19:33

Wondering what I've got myself into now!!

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 22/12/2018 19:38

I'm making the DC watch the old one. I may regret this Grin DD (12) thinks it's hilarious so far .... she's adamant any this "primitive" can't be scary.

Fernie6491 · 22/12/2018 19:44

Well I'm watching , (saw the original), but can't get past the fact that they look more like hares than rabbits. Very disappointed!

whatsthestory123 · 22/12/2018 19:45

the original once watched never forgotten

purpleme12 · 22/12/2018 19:45

I think they look more like hares than rabbits

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 19:51

Really not up to the 70's version imo ( even if it was traumatic ) I don't like the script or the animation style- such a powerful film them but not now. Will watch all though.

I am very disappointed with this version, much prefer the original even though it made me cry and I watched it as an adult.

onlymyselftoanswerto1 · 22/12/2018 20:14

My cat is glued to it Grin but personally I don't think it's got anything on the original. I remember being traumatised by it back then but haven't watched in years!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 20:18

My dog is bloody glued to it too

My favourite book ❤️. I liked it. I think they've tried to be fairly faithful to the book rather than the 78 film. Miss Pipkin and Russian Keehar though - 'piss off bunny'.

PerkingFaintly · 22/12/2018 21:00

Not. Watching.

MrsChollySawcutt · 22/12/2018 21:04

Christ no. DH and I both children of the 1970s, both completely traumatised by the original animated version.

alansleftfoot · 22/12/2018 21:10

There was a 1999 version too where Stephen Gateley sang Bright Eyes . Does anyone remember?

MrsRobot71 · 22/12/2018 21:12

No. I turned the TV off.

SpikedTea · 22/12/2018 21:18

Love the book but can't watch the film or the new one.

whatsthestory123 · 22/12/2018 21:20

found it slow going at first but got much better, will be watching tommorrow

DaedricLordSlayer · 22/12/2018 21:24

paused it earlier, so on part 2 now.
It's rubbish. I love the original. This is so bland, and what the hell have they done to Kehhaar?

purpleme12 · 22/12/2018 21:28

I think it's good

But can't compare it to the original of course as I've not seen it

AviatorShades · 22/12/2018 21:32

It's interesting reading all your comments which confirm my decision to give this a missSad
Didn't watch it first time round either.
That song 'Bright Eyes' was too powerful, too sad, yet too bloody lovely actually.
Was enough for me.Don't need graphics.SadBlush

blackistheneworange · 22/12/2018 21:33

My cat loved it!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 22/12/2018 21:40

Am laughing at the pets watching, my cat was enthralled as well 😂

I didn't think the animation was that good sadly, a bit clumpy and my dd thought they looked more like mice or hares.

Will watch till the end though, am wondering if this version is closer to the book?

calpop · 22/12/2018 23:27

I do wonder if any of the animators have ever seen a rabbit? They have such ridiculously long legs in this, they do look more like hares And where is bright eyes?

Gets better as a story though I think if you dont compare it to the original.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 23/12/2018 00:07

Nowhere near as emotional as the original thank god but still a nice watch. Was remembering all the original lines and the poignant moments. They didn’t have poor old Violet snatched by a hawk. ‘Violet’s gone!’

BackforGood · 23/12/2018 00:25

Not a chance. I'm still traumatised from the 70s version.

Yup. Me too. Am NOT planning to watch unless you all come back and tell me it is a completely different things and all fluffy and lovely.
