Still traumatised from the 1970s version i watched as a child !!

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 22/12/2018 19:01

It’s a new adaption isn’t it? I think I still have ptsd from the original so I’m a bit anxious about this one.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 19:02

Same here ( book and then film ) let us not even mention Plague Dogs...

DP is working tonight, safe to ugly cry by myself.

ilovepinkgin33 · 22/12/2018 19:04

I remember going to the a boy zone concert many many moons ago and Stephen gately did a solo rendition of bright eyes, it was sooooo weird

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 22/12/2018 19:05

Me too, tissues at the ready!

ilovepinkgin33 · 22/12/2018 19:05

Oh and I won't be watching it whatsoever

TheGreenDot · 22/12/2018 19:05

Bugger is it tonight???

TheGreenDot · 22/12/2018 19:06

I love the book and still fear that the General is out there somewhere..... 😱

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/12/2018 19:06

I'm watching. Love the original.

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/12/2018 19:07

It's on now Greendot.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 19:07

On now BBC1 - 1st part.

OP posts:
ikltownofboothlehem · 22/12/2018 19:07

Not a chance. I'm still traumatised from the 70s version.

HopeGarden · 22/12/2018 19:07

TheGreenDot yes, on now.

Loopytiles · 22/12/2018 19:08

DH wants to watch it, but I don’t want to and don’t want to deal with the DC if they watch it!

BawbagBiggins · 22/12/2018 19:09

I've recorded it to watch later as everybody else in the house refuses to watch it (after I traumatised them as young kids by trying to make them watch the original)

Awrite · 22/12/2018 19:12

Dh wanted us to watch - as a family! Shock

Luckily, Sing is on Netflix so we're watching that.

TheQueef · 22/12/2018 19:14

Fookin mass, repeated child abuse the original.
No way can I watch.

TheGreenDot · 22/12/2018 19:18

I managed to get out from under sleeping baby and to race downstairs to hit record. Phew.
Loved original as child but may have watched too young!

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/12/2018 19:19

It's making me think of the poor rabbits in the fields in my village where they're building houses. I wonder if they will all die in their burrow when the bulldozers move in! Sad

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 19:21

Based on ww2 isn't it? Think the 1970s version is much more traumatic than this one.

OP posts:
RandomMess · 22/12/2018 19:21

It's on, half watching, also still traumatised by watching the original I was utterly inconsolable!

RandomMess · 22/12/2018 19:22

Geez may have to turn over already!!!

purpleme12 · 22/12/2018 19:25

I don't think I've ever seen the original. Watching now

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 22/12/2018 19:31

I’d you’ve never seen the original at a very young age, you may be ok to watch this one. I’ve turned it off already.
