Just bought a ticket to scd the professionals. Went to the main one at the o2 a couple of years ago and I didn't rate it much. I bought one ticket this time so no one distracts me - isn't that nuts.

Milly848 · 16/12/2018 11:06

A winners Strictly would be amazing, but I can't see many of them coming back for a reprise.

Encyclo · 16/12/2018 11:07

We were out friends last night and missed the final, the shame! Watched it start to finish when we got back. Faye was the best dancer on the night but I can’t begrudge Stacey and Kevin. They’ve been such good value all season.

Craig’s catsbum face at the end was a picture though 😂

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 11:13

Well...... I may have some gossip once dd is a bit more coherent she was out last night at a swanky do & met a producer from SCD.
Will report back when I catch up with her.

derxa · 16/12/2018 11:21

Having not liked Joe all series his dances were the ones that moved me most especially the Bastille one. He was also the most sincere in his comments. I was pleased Stacey won but she grated a bit at the end. Faye was brilliant and Giovanni was lovely with her and brought out her personality sexiness well. Ashley seems a nice person and obviously stupendous at dancing but she lacks charisma strangely.

Encyclo · 16/12/2018 11:31

I kind of agree Derxa Joe’s showdance was genius from
Dianne, really played to his strengths, I loved it and I was kind of dreading it a bit.

thighofrelief · 16/12/2018 11:34

Len i wait with baited breath for your dd to recover.

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 11:36

Haha me too, I’m all agog.

Sarahandduck18 · 16/12/2018 12:02

Just watched it.

Kevin’s tears!

DeepanKrispanEven · 16/12/2018 12:16

Did anyone else think that Tess had announced Ashley and Pasha as the winners? It was very oddly done...

Nope. It was pretty clear that that was just an introductory bit.

The80sweregreat · 16/12/2018 12:20

Alan Carr would be great! He would embrace the sequins. I can see him doing a samba.

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 16/12/2018 13:00

I don’t think there were any sour grapes at all. I think Ashley and joe were, if anything, relieved. Joe got to the final but was probably not relishing the backlash had he won.

I loved Stacey’s genuine shock. She was arranging her face to congratulate others and was clearly thrown off by winning herself.

DarlingNikita · 16/12/2018 13:01

I think Stacey won on the strength of the whole series, not the final night. The foxtrot was a bit meh, the showdance was a let-down. The paso was good and it was nice to see it again, but still not really blow-it-out-of-the-water quality.

Having said that, I'm happy for them. She was such an enjoyable dancer to watch and they had a great partnership. I'm pleased for Kevin too. That bit when he broke down sobbing on Claudia's shoulder was sweet.

I'd have been happy if Faye won too – her show dance was beautiful and played thoroughly to her strengths. She seemed to be having the time of her life dancing it. Their couple's choice dance was really remarkable and the best dance and best performance of anyone of the whole series, IMO.

I agree with Deepan that Ashley deserves credit for still putting in the effort to do her best despite her and Pasha surely knowing they wouldn't win. Having said that, their show dance was a load of contempowaft waffle IMO and there were WAY too many splayed-leg lifts and crotch shots. There were several times I felt like I was about to give her a bikini wax.

Joe was dreadful and I'm just deeply relieved he didn't win. His Charleston was passingly entertaining but his paso was embarrassing both first and second time round, and the show dance was genuinely appalling –he is the least rock n roll person I can think and that styling didn't suit him at all. It was just some mediocre quickstep (terrible posture/frame) stitched together with running about and half-arsed trampolining. He smashed the guitar at the end well out of time with the sound and the visual effects.

I was relieved that Danny was there and I hope he and Amy are on friendly terms. Nice to see Katie again and didn't Gorka at least make an appearance in the group dance, even if he was injured? I'm sure he helped her off or on to the bench at one point.

I liked Shirley's rounding-up comments to all of them and thought she was kind and perceptive. The demanding hugs off Joe throughout the series had put me off her a bit, but she's redeemed herself now.

And as Monkseal said, Bruno shouted 'tits' and that's always a plus.
Grin

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 16/12/2018 13:01

Waiting to hear any gossip Wink

DarlingNikita · 16/12/2018 13:17

I thought it was lovely when Karen went over and said 'you did it!' Nice that they are still friends.

Oh, I didn't see that. How nice.

Satsumaeater · 16/12/2018 13:18

Very pleased for Stacey, thought she deserved it as the best "non-dancer|" but enjoyed Joe'd dances, didn't actually think he was dreadful.

Faye probably should have won. Ashley was good but I preferred Faye's dances and her show dance was the best of the night.

starkid · 16/12/2018 13:26

@IPromiseIWontBeNaughty - same! Grin Only photos of people heading to/from the wrap party so far, that's not exciting haha

Flora88 · 16/12/2018 13:28

Faye is a terrific dancer and seems a sweet person, but she didn't have the bubbly personality to win it. She's a bit bland and predictable, without the exciting aspect previous winners (Alesha, Kara, Abbey etc) have had.

Belindabauer · 16/12/2018 13:39

I thought Diane did an amazing job with Joe and he took it all in good spirit, he rocked the red velvet trousers!
My favourite pros are Katya and Giovanni. I do like all of them but they are my current favourites.
I love to see Peter Kay take part, apparently he has been asked to do it but declined. Alan Carr would be another good choice.

Milly848 · 16/12/2018 13:44

What are your biggest disappointments this series? Here are mine.

  1. That certain 'scandals' became more important than the show itself
  1. Lee Ryan's early departure, I think he had the potential to go really far
  1. Vick's early departure, I think if she'd had another partner things could have been so different
  1. That we never saw Danny's CC. I think it could have been amazine, but certain scandals wrecked his chances. I also think he and Amy were ill suited, he should have been with someone a bit bolshier such as Oti or Karen
  1. The lack of rumbas. Not my favourite dance, but unfair some avoided it while others had to do the risky dance
  1. The lack of ATs. I wanted to see Ashley and Stacey's.
  1. That Charles didn't make it to the final. He was better than Joe, and actually pretty good at the rumba. Just a shame he had this dance in the quarter finals and faced the DO against Ashley
  1. And lastly, that we will never know who came 2nd, 3rd and 4th
DarlingNikita · 16/12/2018 13:51

Oh God, I'd forgotten about the red velvet trousers! They were a crime.

Milly, I'm with you on Danny and Amy not being suited. She's lovely and I hope she gets a good match next year. I felt so bad for her when she turned up alone to their exit interview on ITT but she handled it so professionally.

I also agree on Stacey's AT –would have loved to see that.

I am desperate to know who came 2nd, 3rd and 4th too; in fact, I'd love to see the voting throughout – how many people vote, who for, how much it takes to knock someone off the top and into the DO etc.

I was disappointed that Kate didn't blossom; I thought she was lovely to watch and I was so excited for her and Aljaz at first but she never really hit her stride.

I was also a bit disappointed in the Katya and Seann thing. I'm not judging either of them, I just really like Katya and hope it hasn't tarnished her for next year. I'd like to see her with another sleb like Ed Balls, who is not good but not hopeless either; she brought out the absolute best in him by challenging him but at the same time kept their performances entertaining.

Belindabauer · 16/12/2018 13:59

I've been disappointed in Bruno. No need at all for all that frantic arm waving and nearly knocking,Shirley over ALL THE TIME. It wasn't even just once per night but after virtually every dance.
Anton. He is crap.
Lack of older female pros. Amy and Danny looked odd dancing together, they need a female pro over the age of 32.
Too many props.
More AT and tango.
More traditional outfits. Men in tails for ballroom and proper black dance shoes.
Some of the music. Id rather hear a clear, definitive waltz than something the celeb likes which could , maybe, pass as a waltz but only just and then not when it is crucified by the singer's on the show.

Satsumaeater · 16/12/2018 14:04

What I want for next year:

Far fewer props and themes.

Music that suits the dance and give the pro dancer more choice.

A fair balance of dances eg Lauren had only done 3 ballroom until her penultimate week?

Tess to stop being patronising.

SuperSuperSuper · 16/12/2018 14:09

I'm glad that Stacey, the best of the novices, won. Also delighted for Kevin.

I agree with all Milly's comments re disappointments, and would add that I'd prefer fewer X Factor-esque sob stories and nans (not that they go madly overboard with this in fairness - I just hope they don't add more of it). I'd like VTs to focus more on training too, with none of the daft visits to random venues.

Charley50 · 16/12/2018 14:12

Yes, Tess Daly is so so patronising.. I find her really annoying actually.
Glad Stacey won ..
