Final thread???

Anyone got any ideas for celebs for the next series? I’d like to see Vicky McClure and Martin Compston of Line of Duty fame. Also Steph McGovern and Clive Myrie off BBC news. I would love to see a Welsh rugby player too. Jamie Roberts would be my first choice, or Shane Williams (he’s a gymnast, they usually do well!), Martyn Williams or Ryan Jones.

I loved the final; I thought Faye really was the best on the night but no one was a disappointment. It would be a shame if Kevin left now, I think he’s an asset to the show.

Can’t believe people on here still think the producers will ‘learn a lesson’ from Ashley and not have ringers - she was a success for the show, did some incredible dances that people will be watching for years to come AND sparked debate and interest in the show. Please will everyone just understand that the show wants ringers and they serve a purpose. The producers and judges really don’t expect or need them to win.

I think most people used their votes as soon as the lines were open. I know my children did. I think they should have waited until after the show dance as I think that could have made a difference or gave you 3 votes initially and then another 3 later on.

I misunderstood what was happening by presuming that the votes were to see who went through to the next bit (like they have done in previous years!).

It made no difference to me as I voted for Faye but may have made a difference to some others.

This said I don't mind the outcome, this year I wasn't that fussed about who won for some reason!! In fact the whole series has lacked its usual lustre.

If Joe had won I would have thought it one of the worst series, but Stacey winning redeemed it somewhat. I was in the ABJ camp.

I did think it meant miles more to Kevin than Stacey to win, but I wondered why such a big deal is made of Kevin’s bridesmaid status when Giovanni has been in three finals and not won. I don’t see him having quite as much as a nervous breakdown about it as Kevin...

Definitely favourite moment of the night was Karen’s congratulations. Could a reconciliation be on the cards??!

I'm glad Stacey won - she was my favourite all along, even though Faye was much better. The contrast between her and Joe, and Faye and Ashley was very obvious in the final, F and A both looked like professional dancers. It seems like Ashley was getting almost no votes from quite early on in the series, people really don't like it when experienced dancers are rammed in, with the judges all emphasising that they've never done any ballroom, etc.. TBH I'm surprised that any experienced dancer exposes him or herself to the hostility it causes. Every time the judges waved the 10 paddles for Ashley it lost her votes.

Likability seems to be one of the most important factors, and Stacey has that in buckets.

Faye said she’d made a friend for life. Dianne said she’d made a friend for life. Laura said she and AJ would definitely dance again. Stacey said she wasn’t going to hang out with Kevin any more.

I'll have to go back and check, as I didn't watch the KevFest immediately following the winner announcement, but it might confirm what many thought - that KFG was overly interested in Stacey*, and it wasn't reciprocated.

*I don't blame him for his feelings, before anyone piles onto me - the heart wants what it wants, and as long as he didn't stalk her or anything, there's no problem

Kevin tweeted earlier in the week that the news that he is leaving is news to him and that he's planning on staying as long as they'll have him.

Or she might simply have meant that she wouldn't be spending umpteen hours each day in a studio any more. That's how I understood it.

I imagine that Stacey was trying to do some damage control given the tabloid gossip and the fact that her boyfriend was right there in the audience...

What dance was other posters favourite of the whole series? For me it was Giovanni and Faye's Jazz dance - and the version they did in the final was even better than the first time they did it. Does Giovanni do his own choreography? That was just brilliant.

Stacey emphasised a couple of times that Kevin is a ‘gent’. I can imagine that this year would be emotionally heightened for him and a crush on Stacey wouldn’t be surprising but if he did fall for her, he was clearly respectful and not pushy.

I wonder how long Pasha will stay, he’s been on the show for quite a long time, hasn’t he? This year must have been frustrating for him - he could choreograph incredible dances but know they’d never get votes.

Juells, I really loved Kevin and Stacey’s Les Miserables dance, Charles’ street dance and Ashley’s jive and her first contemporary number. But possibly my total favourite was Faye and Giovanni’s goat themed Charleston!

I think the Kevin-Craig stuff was good-hearted. It wasn’t like a Brendan vs Shirley situation that was actually uncomfortable.

Does Giovanni do his own choreography?

He had outside help for the Couples Choice; I remember him thanking them after the first time they performed it.

But I thought their showdance was brilliantly choreographed too. I really rate him as a pro.

I think they all get specialist choreographers in for the specialist dances like Charleston, AT etc and I remember Giovanni saying he had to learn the theatre dance stuff - I admire him for showcasing what Faye does best rather than playing to his own strengths. He deserves to win sometime!

Ashley's "ABSOLUTELY this was AMAZING" comment sounded so insincere!

I didn't think so. She must have been long resigned to the fact that she couldn't possibly win, so she can't have been disappointed. Credit to her for still putting in the effort to do her best.

YAAAAAAAAAY THE BEST RESULT !!!!! I would've stopped watching if Joe had won!!!!!!! I reckoned Stace right from the start. I should've bet on her, but I don't bet!

Good chance that Kevin will retire otherwise he’s guaranteed to get a duffer next year

I don't think the professionals - particularly the well-established ones - necessarily regard getting a duffer as a bad thing: it means they'll have a relatively easy series.

I was very impressed with AJ this year. I'd never warmed to him before, but I think he's matured a lot. She wasn't a great dancer, but he brought her as far as she could possibly go.

David Williams has also said on Jonathan Ross that he'd love to do Strictly. He's obviously desperate to do it if he keeps dropping hints!

There was an awful lot of camera shots of Stacey's boyfriend throughout last night. I wonder if that was deliberate?
