Glitterball Shiny new thread.

Tess is the very least of the programme's worries, it's the judges that need sorting out. Everyone I know has found them an absolute pain this series.

Arcadia · 09/12/2018 09:51

I know someone at work who is connected to Zoella and Joe via family in a roundabout way, apparently he is definitely IAR with Dianne.

I also noticed him shrinking away from Tess after one of his dances when she reached out for him. She was horribly patronising again talking about an 'actual grown up man' dance, I think she pissed him off. She is dreadful, so insincere.

We voted for Stacey, the most real in our view, and we find her dances energising to watch. The others aren't doing much for me although I also like Faye.

I think this week seems to confirm that the Joevermarking was either to try rid of Charles or to keep the 'yoof' watching.

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2018 10:04

I don't think that some people CAN tell a good dancer from an ok one Inkanta and 12000 Joe and Lauren would not have got to the semi final if that was the case.

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2018 10:06

Both Joe and Lauren are out of their depth. I feel sorry for them.

xsquared · 09/12/2018 10:17

Re ringers: without them we would not have had Jill Halfpenny, Rachel Stevens, Kara Tointon, Jay McGuinness, Alesha Dixon, Caroline Flack, Danny Mac just to name a few who all produced memorable dances and some eventually won.
We do need them.

Checking in for later. Thank you.

xsquared · 09/12/2018 10:19

Probably unpopular view but I'd much rather watch Charles than Joe dancing. I didn't like Charles to begin with but he grew on me.

I'm very out if step with most, but I really like Bruno. I know he is ott but he always manages to still come out with a nail on head comment. I just can't warm to Shirley though and I don't know why - sometimes I think Darcy really dislikes her too?
I don't mind Tess but totally agree about her patronising pawing, I wish she would tone that down a bit,
My favourite dancer is Faye.
I think the semi would have been better if Lauren hadn't been in it at this stage, she should have gone instead of Charles - he would have been better and at least provided a decent effort.

Katy's and Neil can go anytime, I don't like their dynamic. Karen has looked utterly miserable the whole series when caught off camera too.

That's my yearly rant over.

ManicUnicorn · 09/12/2018 10:47

Joe and Dianne were on This Morning this week and refused to deny being in a relationship. I think they will become 'official' after the series is over, like Kara and Artem, Gemma and Gorka etc did.

ManicUnicorn · 09/12/2018 10:53

Oh, and BTW apparently a lot happens on Strictly that the press don't find out about.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 09/12/2018 10:53

I do wonder whether Karen has found it hard working with Kevin but then they are a professional duo so who knows!

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 09/12/2018 10:53

Tell us more Manic

Miscible · 09/12/2018 10:56

I've got vague memories of one series where a good dancer kept ending up in the DO, and eventually the judges said that obviously they were failing to connect with the public, they couldn't ignore that and voted them off. Am I imagining it?

Miscible · 09/12/2018 10:59

I've been known to defend Tess on the basis that she deserves some slack for all the years of putting up with Brucie, pretending to find him funny, evading his wandering hands and covering up on the frequent occasions when he cocked up. However, she is getting so patronising that I think the time has come for the BBC to find someone who is actually capable of doing the job properly.

ManicUnicorn · 09/12/2018 11:07

Lots of affairs that never make it into the public domain. Which is amazing really, given that the press are obsessed with the 'curse'. Tess is apparently horrible and the wardrobe give her awful dresses on purpose. Claudia is lovely though, and so is Craig.

IRanSoFarAway · 09/12/2018 11:16

I don't mind mind Tess although she can be a bit wooden but heard her say last night that Joe was doing a grown up dance? Is he not 27??!! Maybe it's because he has young fans. Also heard Shirley say he is one of her favourites which is so unfair on the others. I know Bruce used to say it to people but he was being kind if they had had a bad dance and were being slated by the judges.

IRanSoFarAway · 09/12/2018 11:18

Ooh Manic sounds interesting, can you divulge more....!

Binglebong · 09/12/2018 11:18

I've been thinking which dancers I'd like to bring back. Obviously keeping Pasha and Aliash. And Tony Beck of course. So bring back:
Lilia
Robin
Brendon
Karen Hardy (head judge - bye bye Shirley and SCD admit you did wrong)

I know there are lots more. I'd like Ian Waite back but don't want to.lose him from ITT.

Lottapianos · 09/12/2018 11:19

'Joe and Dianne were on This Morning this week and refused to deny being in a relationship'

Ok, great if they're happy and everything, but I think they look weird together. He looks like her younger cousin or something

'Tess is apparently horrible and the wardrobe give her awful dresses on purpose'

I don't believe the bit about wardrobe- she has her own stylist. I can believe the bit about her being horrible but Claudia genuinely seems to love her and Claudia is definitely a good egg. Maybe Claudia gets on with everyone.

Miscible, very good point about the Brucie years. Grim

YearOfYouRemember · 09/12/2018 11:29

I don't like the head dip that Tess must think is cute or sexy or something. Her fake laugh is annoying especially as it comes after a comment she thinks is funny but isn't. I do feel sorry her husband messing about stopped her baby book being properly advertised.

I like Craig, Bruno needs to calm down a little, Darcey and Shirley need to go.

The results show needs to be shown on Saturday night

mydogisthebest · 09/12/2018 12:07

I wish they would get rid of Darcey and Shirley. I used to like Darcey but now she just irritates me. I am not sure if she feels she is in competition with Shirley but I feel she just wants attention all the time.

Why the need to stand to give a 10 mark? She never used to and, as silly as it is, it irritates the hell out of me. The silly faces she pulls at Craig plus the tuts and sighs when he marks low. He has always marked low so why the surprise?

I also don't; think judges should be giving standing ovations. They are meant to be impartial and even though we all know they are not they could at least try and pretend.

I don't dislike Tess. She is rather robotic and seems nice enough and is trying to give good comments to the dancers. I find it hard to believe that she is not liked even though I have joked to DH that wardrobe must hate her because of the things she wears

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2018 12:15

Tess is very tall maybe that's why she does that head dip, to seem smaller. I'm feeling sorry for her now Xmas Hmm, she gets over excited and forgets that she repeats herself (I suppose it's when she doesn't have the autocue to help Grin ) after the dances.

Claud is soo much more intelligent and copes with the dancers much better.

Samcro · 09/12/2018 12:19

i love that new pro can't spell his name....johan* he really should have a partner next time. not so keen on neil,
Tess should get a new job working with small children.
I have warmed to Lauren and am sad she isn't very good.

MozzieMagnet · 09/12/2018 12:22

Tess Claw annoys me almost as much as Chris Tarrant used to on WWTBAM when he'd always put his hand on the contestant's shoulder at the end of the show.

I would prefer someone other than Tessbot 2000 hosting but there have been MNetters who went to the recording who were very complimentary with both how she presented and how warm/spontaneous she could be off-camera.

I saw Brucie's tribute again the other day and Tess tearing up mentioning his family was completely genuine and reminded me not to judge her as harshly as I do.

MozzieMagnet · 09/12/2018 12:23

Johannes. Seconded. Would love him as a pro.
