Although I can't think about January yet...

I'm still in denial it's nearly December- which means ds will be 16 , and I will be 47 and another year will be over.

May I volunteer to do the pressing of Mac's body? For science.

I'm hoping Garbine wins her match. I'm not a fan of Konta either.

PrivateParkin · 17/01/2019 14:18

Jane did you hear Novak in his post match interview with Mac, said he wants to play doubles with him in Melbourne one day?!

Raahh · 17/01/2019 14:20

Konta's service action annoys me. Bit irrational, that Grin. But I like her outfit, Grin.

I really like Garbine- she can be a bit inconsistent, but I do like her when she's on form.

I hope Mac told him to feck off Private Grin

Raahh · 17/01/2019 15:51

I have just got back from the school run- I cannot believe the Garbine match is still going on. Assuming they were up in the hours of the morning before, they could have been up for potentially nearly 24 hours, which is bordering on ludicrous. Hmm

They will be exhausted.

magimedi · 17/01/2019 16:02

Go Jo! (Have to support her as she's a local woman).

Totally daft to have play going on at this time. The Aus Open needs to sort itself out & have a cut off time.

Raahh · 17/01/2019 16:03

And one of them will have to play during the day on Saturday, probably- and whilst they are not playing 5 sets, (and still have a day in between) they will still be at a disadvantage against Bacsinszky ,whose match ended much earlier.

PrivateParkin · 17/01/2019 16:03

This is ridiculous.

Raahh · 17/01/2019 16:05

As one of the commentators said earlier, they are both playing far better than either have done over the last year- and there is hardly anyone there to see it. Sad

Tennis is just insane sometimes.

PrivateParkin · 17/01/2019 16:16

To emphasise that comment, I'd like to point out that Katie Swan has been fined for her first round performance in the qualies Hmm The poor girl left the court in a wheelchair!! Angry

Raahh · 17/01/2019 16:18

Annabel is looking lovely. And is talking sense,

I'm glad Garbine won, but really, Jo did very well, it's a positive that she played so much better.

OP posts:
Raahh · 17/01/2019 16:20

Private I saw that she retired from the qualies- I didn't know she had been fined. And it's not like she will have made any bloody money- something that both Djok and Nadal have been talking about . They have both been saying that really, the lower tournaments (and things liek the futures) and earlier rounds should be better paid, as up the levels - they don't need the money.

OP posts:
Raahh · 17/01/2019 17:21

I have just seen that Katie had her fine overturned- but ffs, what idiot didn't have the common sense to see the difference between a pre-existing injury, and something that happened during the match, and imposed the fine in the first place?

I can see why the rule exists -the other year at Wimbledon, when it looked like there were a lot of dubious withdrawals in the first round, it did seem like something needed to be done. But I 'm beginning to think that common sense is lacking in so many areas of tennis at the moment.

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 17/01/2019 17:35

Oh that's good Raahh
I do agree with that rule overall but obviously you can't apply it when someone is in a genuine situation like she was.

There is definitely a lack of common sense in tennis. They should let us take charge of it all Grin What could go wrong?!

I see Rafa has the night match again tomorrow against the deMon as he's now called apparently! That should be great. Cilic-Verdasco is also a night match, as is Kerber v an Aussie who I've not heard of. Looking forward to all those.

Tsitsipas plays Basilashvili which could be good as well, but looks like it'll be overnight for us sadly.

Raahh · 17/01/2019 17:45

I am a bit miffed not to get to see Stefanos again.

Bit torn with the Cilic match. I like Verdasco, but I do want Marin to do well.

We'd be great in charge Grin

or maybe not..Grin

I have every intention of ruling the world in the future!!

I'll put Private & Raahh i/c tennis - but there will be rules you will have to follow!!

(Stan & Djok to always play on outside courts Grin )

I saw a little clip of Marin giving a camera man one of his bottles of water. Very sweet.
