Took the liberty of starting a new thread. Hope the title suits!

Yep schaden I remember and I can't block it out! I felt so sorry for Aliona, I wouldn't have wished it on my worst enemy well, maybe a few! Luckily for her, they went out early, possibly even first?

TheDrsDocMartens · 26/11/2018 19:43

Taken me hours to catch up and I didn’t even click many YouTube links!

SerenDippitty · 26/11/2018 19:44

I enjoyed seeing Gavin Henson on Strictly even though he wasn’t very good! Always thought he’d be very much at home in the Latin section with all the fake tan and sequins but he surprised me by preferring the sophistication of the ballroom!

PawneeParksDept · 26/11/2018 19:57

I'm in the mood to find more good performances from yesteryear but I've gone blank.

@SchadenfreudePersonified

RE Outfits not always, I distinctly remember Erin moonlighting as a 70s lampshade

And there was that time when Lilia's top snapped and she had to hold her dress up the entire dance, she didn't stop though unlike Karen controversially did when RAMPS! Mic got caught in her dress

Best quickstep - Harry Judd & Aliona. Loved him!

I still love Jay and Aliona's Tango, more than their Jive. He just hits the beat so beautifully with every step.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/11/2018 20:47

Had I been her, I would have made my own "luck" Wink

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2018 20:48

Oh yes the best 2 guys to win (in the series I've seen) IMO were Jay and Harry with Ore a close 2nd. Louis wasn't bad either.

Figgygal · 26/11/2018 21:27

Aw just watched Graeme and Oti on ITT they were so happy together I don't think there's any problems there

dontcallmelen · 26/11/2018 21:29

Ooh forgotten about Harry, he was lovely, Jay was also very talented & came across as being very nice as well.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/11/2018 21:37

Figgy

I'm so pleased to hear that - not only for the sake of his wife and three DCs, but also for Oti's sake, that she didn't have to keep slapping his hands away from her boobage every two minutes.

Was Harry a ringer? As I recall he barely put a foot wrong throughout the series.

Loving the new thread - proper debate here. I do think this is a weak season overall.

I got too Denise & James Charleston in the audience and it was awesome

MozzieMagnet · 26/11/2018 22:04

I don't think so. I think being a drummer meant he had decent rhythm.
He went to prep schools then boarding school where he was decent at cricket acc to his wiki page. But then someone on here said you did dance at prep school wrt Susannah but no, I think he was a beginner and as such was amazing.

Binglebong · 26/11/2018 22:09

Looking at Moonbeams link (page 5) two things stand out. How much longer the camera stayed on the dancers before cutting away so we could see the moves (and we moaned about them cutting away too fast even then). And that James Jordan clearly showed his hairdresser a picture of an upturned triangle and told him to copy it.

Theromanempire · 26/11/2018 22:16

Never mind James's lack of sleeves in that clip, Ola (even by her standards) appears to have forgotten most of her clothes compared to the other female pros Grin

I think Harry and Ramps are probably my 2 favourite winners but Danny Mac is my all time fave contestant!

Binglebong · 26/11/2018 22:20

Who did a Charlston to Constantinople? It was amazing.

And there was that time when Lilia's top snapped and she had to hold her dress up the entire dance, she didn't stop though unlike Karen controversially did when RAMPS! Mic got caught in her dress

To be fair I think they were actually attached and couldn't move on their own. At least for part of it. And Lilia was a pro - she's meant to know how to deal with such things, albeit an extreme version. While Ramps would have no idea and would be completely put off, or could have been.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/11/2018 22:23

Dances of old I loved:

Jay and Aliona's jive - still my favourite dance ever.
Danny and Oti's charleston - that cartwheel!
Jay and Aliona's tango - his timing was impeccable.
Debbie and Giovanni's Argentine tango.
Sophie and Brendan's charleston was THE charleston.
Alexandra and Gorka's paso was mesmerising.
Harry and Aliona's quickstep.
Abbey and Aljaz's American Smooth.
Louis and Flavia's salsa.

Sigh. So many gorgeous dances and not a one from this year has given me goosebumps the way all of those did the very first time I saw them.

starkid · 26/11/2018 22:45

I really like Joe, he's my favourite, but I don't want him getting unfair scores compared to others which I thought they definitely did on Saturday. Him and Dianne are a great duo, but he's not a 10 yet so they shouldn't be doling them out willy-nilly. He'd probably appreciate 10s he deserves rather than just to make a point/story or whatever.

Poor Graeme, I did say to my DH if I was him I'd have just freestyled and done the worm or something for the hell of it!! Grin
Ashley would've had to lie down and do nothing to not win that dance-off

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/11/2018 22:53

LivingBoy

You are right - not a single shiver down the spine, not a single goosebump, not a single breath withheld because the next moment was going to be crucial, not a single sigh of appreciation . . . . not s single moment of tension.

It's become a cheap show, with cheap music, cheap costumes and cheap props, and cheap jibes from the judges. It's lost everything that made it compulsive viewing.

Looking back over the previous series, I had forgotten how professional the whole show was - none of this stupid dancing about before and after the dances etc - bloody hell! I'm even starting to miss Brucie!

MozzieMagnet · 26/11/2018 22:57

Hello Lovelies
As some of you had yearnings for the past, I am posting links to the 1st ever Strictly. Flowers to Katie on DS. Hope the links work for you

MozzieMagnet · 26/11/2018 23:06

My favourite dances are never usually the best technically, although I do appreciate those ones too, but the ones I've rewatched the most.

American smooth: Alison and Aljaz/Kellie and Kevin
Argentine: Pamela and James (training run through)
Cha cha: Rinder and Oksana/Danny and Oti
Charleston: Sophie and Brendan/Caroline and Pasha
Foxtrot: Cherie and James
Jive: Holly and Artem/Anita and Gleb
Paso: Debbie and Gio/Pamela and James/Denise and James
Quickstep: Chelsea and Pasha
Rumba: Katie and Anton
Salsa: Ed and Katya
Showdance: Jay and Aliona /Zoe and Ian
Samba: Jake and Janette
Tango: Pixie and Trent/Harry and Aliona
Viennese: Sunetra and Brendan
Waltz: Anita and Gleb/Rachel and Pasha

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/11/2018 07:26

Can anyone help out? On his blog, Monkseal mentions Chelsee and Pasha's paso doble - I went to YouTube to remind myself of it but can't find it anywhere. It's really weird - literally every other dance they've done is on there? Anybody able to find it for me?
