Took the liberty of starting a new thread. Hope the title suits!

If Lauren’s vote holds up, and I have read elsewhere that there is an online campaign to vote for her) there is a strong possibility that either Stacey or Faye won’t make the final as they will come up against Ashley in a dance off and the judges will obviously save Ashley. I think Joe is pretty safe.

After watching him on ITT yesterday IMO AJ is a bit .... obsessive possibly, IMO he pushes Lauren too hard, I know she has the stamina but she could be better if she was allowed to loosen up a bit and not to worry about the next complicated step all the time. There's an on line campaign to vote for her seren ???? weird.

Online campaign? That’s odd? But she’s definitely getting votes. Maybe it’s a GBP backlash against the judges.

I think Danny is my favourite ever celeb dancer too. He really should have won. So many of his dances were just stunning

Harry was fab too but I must be the only person in the world who can't stand Mark Ramprakash! I always thought there was something really disingenuous and off about him. I just didnt buy the nice humble guy act. There were some unsavoury stories about him some time after he did Strictly and I wasn't surprised at all

Yes I have thought AJ pushes Lauren too hard for complex steps at the expense of mood. Their Argentine Tango was too complicated and it was like Lauren had no chance to even breathe. Then on Saturday they put in a complex gusset lift that doesn't look good even if done well, probably causing unnecessary anxiety.

I'm sure I've read that in the early series the pros would sometimes use their own dresses.

From a money/clothing point of view, get each men a made-to-measure tailsuit and have them wear it for most of the ballroom dances! I still remember when Brian Fortuna wore a short jacket instead of tails, and everybody was a bit unsure about it!

As a cricketer he was superb but very insecure. And very very driven. Quite intense I would imagin. The strictly version was the more pared down version!

I hope it's Stacey who gets thrown to the wolves, then, if it has to be one of these two. (Though obviously Lauren - one of the few celebs who actually possesses "charisn'tma" in spades - would be a better one to leave)

Lauren came over well in ITT yesterday, she's sweet AJ is her problem. (though if she's being voted for irrationally by the GBP ) they could win I suppose.

IMO Stacey is a much better dancer than her, (her tango was impressive despite the make up!) Iike her more too.

I do love the idea of the men wearing trad clothes for all the ballroom dances.

I'm sure they all wore suits in the early years before they became consumed by the need for costumes and themes 🤔

I remember all through his series it bothered me that Jay McGuinness reminded me of someone (especially after he cut his hair). It wasn't until last week when DD started watching Outnumbered that I realised he reminded me of the younger son, Ben. Especially when Jay has his concentrating face on, like in the Tango.

Thank you so much for the link, MozzieMagnet - I do remember it now - such beautiful shaping compared to whatever the hell was going on on Saturday! I remember that about Chelsee - she was always so terrified, and you could see her concentrating so hard, but she worked so well with Pasha's choreography and he really managed to teach her to dance.

I keep forgetting what an excellent dancer Pasha is too, until I see him in something like that.

Joe's could be a carcrash or epic. At least his costume will be rainbow-tastic, maybe he can camp it up Pride-style. I only like the coat of many colours bit (I look handsome, I look smart, I'm a walking work of art!) but am hearing Gorka in my head saying I is smart.
Lauren's song doesn't do it for me. South Pacific didn't do Carol many favours.
Stacey's will appeal to the masses sadly.

It's been chucking it down all day and is so dark, I've spent the last hour or two watching old Strictly dances back. Most of Danny and Oti, some Harry and Aliona and then got onto Zoe and Ian. I didn't start watching until later series, so never saw Zoe dance. Quite nostalgic to look back and see proper dances - dancing the whole time with no faffing abaaht - proper music and proper costumes and absolutely no props. Bruno used to be able to sit down the whole time aswell The VTs were all in the training room, rather than on a rollercoaster or down a coal mine or other completely ludicrous location, and showed the nitty gritty and frustration of it all. Zoe was often quite down and Ian used to have to pick her up again.
Anyway, back to reality as it's almost time for the school run

There has been no "wow" dance has there? I wonder whether it is to do with the fact that they are reusing so much of the same music, it just doesn't seem new or interesting?

Yy no standout dance, it’s all a bit pedestrian this year I think it’s a combination of as you say re use of the music & to much faffing/themes & not much proper dancing.

A quickstep to Don’t Rain On My Parade sounds amazing. I think Charles has been shafted again with the music - a rumba to Maria? I think that will be bad. Les Mis is a very boring choice. The Joseph Megamix sounds disastrous.
