Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

To be fair, wasn't he no. 3 for a very short while? Still a major under achiever at the top tournaments though.

Delighted with today's results Grin
Except for Sascha. I love his gangliness even if he can't quite get it together for the big one.

magimedi · 03/11/2018 07:37

I love watching Sascha play but as my grandmother would have said: "He thinks nae small beans of himself".

ferrier · 03/11/2018 09:16

And more thoughts in the light of the semi final line up, it's actually pretty top player heavy this year ... nos. 2, 3 and 6. Really not an unusual line up for a Masters.

Raahh · 03/11/2018 09:48

magi Grin.
I do like Sascha, but he is treading that fine line between over confidence and arrogance. The one that Kyrgios over stepped long ago. Grin. Of course, the big difference is that Sascha has results to back up his claims.

I fell asleep last night, when I finally gave in to the headache that had been threatening all day. And today I've said I will go and watch dd1 play football. Maybe dd2 can be my mascot. 😂. I really can't be ill, too much to to do.

Shame about the results last night, I could have done with waking up to something to cheer me up.

Some men can get away with cockiness where others can't. It helps a lot if you look like a statue of a Greek god Wink

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 13:31

Yep. It certainly doesn't do him any harm!!

Not looking good for Thiem Sad

Yes I suppose looking like a Greek god does let you get away with a certain amount of arrogance! I think I’ve only ever watched Zverev when he’s lost or not played very well so I don’t have such a high opinion of him.

Fizzywinegum · 03/11/2018 14:28

So Karen is through to the final - will he be meeting roger or Novak? I’m guessing Novak.

Raahh · 03/11/2018 14:34

Karen has had a good tournament, but in fairness to Thiem, indoors is not his best surface, so he has had a good season really.

I'm expecting it to be Djok in the final.

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 15:26

I'm currently at a trampoline park Sad probably going to miss Djokovic v Fed...

Great tournament for Kachanov.

Have a good bounce Private. Footie on here so I probably won't get to watch either.

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 15:39

Grin I'm just hovering at the edge Jane, going "be careful!" Nobody is taking any notice of me, obviously.

Pesky football clashing with tennis!!

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2018 15:55

Go on, get in there, you'll love it Grin

ferrier · 03/11/2018 16:04

I am also just off out with pesky kids.
From the first few games though, Roger is looking very slow. 😕

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 16:07

If I hear Van Halen one more time... Grin

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 16:08

ferrier that doesn't sound good Sad ... Roger I mean!

Just waited 22 mins in the queue for a slushy and a cup of tea Hmm

Sorry about the trampoline park derail. Maybe I should start a new thread?!

Scores look close in the Roger v Novak match.

Private VanHalen reminds me of teenage discos where we'd all climb up on chairs and jump off them Grin not realising the dark lyrics of the song.

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 17:15

Jane Grin I think it went over the heads of the kids at the trampoline park as well!

Back home now and tuned in to the tennis. What a close first set. I don't know how players can be so close to winning a set like that, and then just start from scratch again in the next one - I'd be throwing in the towel there and then with as I'd be so annoyed! Probably one of the many reasons I'm not a pro tennis player!!

Raahh · 03/11/2018 17:22

All the drugs to keep me awake for the football this morning, made me crash this afternoon (but at least dd1's team won, which was good).

I'm feeling a bit groggy now. Grin

Private I hope you'are enjoying the trampolines. GrinI am trying to avoid the annual bonfire trip out. Ds is out, dd1 doesn't want to go out anyway, and I think dd2 might have forgotten. So I might be safe. Grin

PrivateParkin · 03/11/2018 18:09

Hope you're ok Raahh. Perhaps an early night if you can get away with avoiding the fireworks? We are going out for that soon, I can't believe I've organised this day so poorly when there's tennis on!!

Roger is still in this - played a great second set and looks really up for it, coming to the net a lot etc. Novak's serve is still not great following on from yesterday.

Just got back in. Where is it. Bloody NFL on my tv.

ferrier · 03/11/2018 18:12

Or NBA. Not tennis at any rate.

Raahh · 03/11/2018 18:16

private thanks, I'm planning to sit here and keep the dog company. Even though he has just dug something disgusting up from the garden. Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2018 18:22

It's on the red button ferrier. I've just tuned in.
