@subtitleson Yes!! I spent far too much time shouting " take his bloody hat off!"

MamaRaisingBoys · 30/09/2018 22:54

subtitles I read the baby is always wearing a hat because the twins they used one had hair and one didn’t

Shh guys I won't spoil it for you but I stupidly googled the book and read what happens

I'll keep quiet

SadieLancaster · 30/09/2018 22:58

Is it a series or a one off?

EvePolastri · 30/09/2018 22:58

*ahh not ssh

shearwater · 30/09/2018 22:59

I wonder if there is going to be any nuance in this, as her partner is clearly a grade A arsehole. Well, grade B at least. Also they clearly seem to be making out that the ex wife has something to do with it, which seems rather too obvious.

WidowTwonky · 30/09/2018 23:02

Did we actually ever see the baby after the flight?? Don’t think we did

On the plane Mums meds and the babies Calpol for his teething were in the same bottles (to get through security 100ml rule probably) - possible mix up on plane by Dad as exhausted Mum slept.
Baby dies of overdose and body is left in delapidated house (if that's in the area of the bush fire) and then they go on pretending the baby is still alive like what thaegumathteth suggests.

Womaningreen · 30/09/2018 23:07

I love that we have EvePolastri already Grin

donkeysandzebras · 30/09/2018 23:10

When they were in the arrivals hall and he made the patronising comment about jet lag, I noticed neither of them seemed to have the baby. I hadn't picked up that you didn't see or hear the baby for the rest of the episode although did think that she had probably left the baby at home and he hadn't noticed. I also wondered what we were supposed to pick up about her states at the bag.
I thought she knew the exact age simply because she was counting down/up the days she's been looking after the baby and was desperately hoping that at some magical, mythical age (6 weeks, three months ... all those tales people tell you) it would stop crying and all would be well.
I did enjoy it and found it easy to follow despite the jumpiness but did find myself on edge as I could so easily have been in a similar position with DD, she just didn't cry quite as much and DH wasn't an arse.

ellenanora5 · 30/09/2018 23:11

Well I'm intrigued, some good theories here from everyone.

The husband is an arsehole, "you do know jetlag has nothing to do with sleep" fuck off you knob.

Anyway I'll be tuning in next week, great thread Smile

salsamad · 30/09/2018 23:11

Maybe Dad accidently overdoses baby on plane but blames Mum as she was so tired/confused on the plane and in her guilt and stress haze she is coerced to go along with his cover up plan....

FlosCampi · 30/09/2018 23:17

I agree with Salsamad's theory, already dead Noah has been left somewhere before they ever got to the house, but Joanna is to confused herself to quite realise what's going on now. also i wonder if some of her wooziness while still in Scotland could have been created by evil Alistair gaslighting/drugging her into dependence and compliance?

shearwater · 30/09/2018 23:19

The only thing is, I'm not sure that I find any of the characters likeable enough to care what happens to them. Even Joanna carried on having an affair with a married man who had lied to her about being married. It all sounds like it's going to be too traumatic to be entertaining.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 30/09/2018 23:21

Ooooh is this an adaptation of the book?

HollowTalk · 30/09/2018 23:21

What was that thing she squirted into her son's mouth on the plane?

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 30/09/2018 23:22

Yes it is, just read a few more posts. I loved the book, had no idea it was being made into a tv show as well.

Bellatrix17 · 30/09/2018 23:26

I’ve read the book and think the way they’re doing it is really good - by the end of the first chapter in the book you know what happens. Although there is a great twist at the end!

Janus · 30/09/2018 23:28

I’d not watched first 20 mins and still watching it. I honestly don’t think we’ve heard the baby since the flight either. There did seem to be 2 types of medicine so I think it was a mix up at some point and they panicked?? But they seemed too calm if they’d just accidentally killed their baby. So none the wiser!!
He’s an utter, utter dick though, ‘I was thinking I could get away with it’ the reason for taking her back to his house. Waking her up to tell her to put the baby down, you’d want to kill him!
Boring real life, the politician he was an assistant too and the woman playing his mother in Australia are married in real life!

PillowOfSociety · 30/09/2018 23:28

Hmmm, hence the change of plan. They had been going to go straight to his Mum’s house and were expected because Chloe made the cake, then they delayed until the evening.

And tne housekeeper came back unexpectedly and surprised them. The baby was sleeping in her arms

MsMiaWallace · 30/09/2018 23:29

Just watched it. Wow Jenna was amazing, amazing actress!!
Better than I thought it was going to be.

MsMiaWallace · 30/09/2018 23:30

Thinking about it. At the house & she was holding baby by the balcony was she sick out of shock due to be baby being dead?
Alistair was very agitated & did not want the cleaner near them.

Janus · 30/09/2018 23:31

I think the baby was dead in her arms and the woman/cleaner walking in tipped her over emotionally and so she had to run outside to be sick.
