I can't believe it's nearly September, really. I'm sure the Australian open has just finished. Grin

I'm going to spend the morning labelling school uniform . I really am.

I probably won't

Private I am not a fan of Isner at all- and despite having the most boring game, the crowd will be on his side, no doubt about it. Although Delpo does have a massive fan base- so I hope some of them turn up!

Magi I like Goffin too, and he has quietly going through the tournament. He's capable of beating the big hitters too. I think everyone has forgotten Nishikori even exists (I tend to, he is just one
of those players I have never warmed to).

The Federer match will probably be fairly straightforward, although occasionally Fed comes unstuck against players you expect him to beat easily.

I had a brief look at the women's draw, and the bottom half is quite open- Madison Keys is playing today. I really like her, and she must fancy her chances.

I like Keys as well, but I think Cibulkova will win that match - she is a tricky customer. Osaka seems to be playing really well - dark horse for the title??

Yeah, Goffin, Nishikori, even Cilic (former champ and hasn't played on Ashe yet this year Hmm ) they're all going under the radar. As usual!

Raahh · 03/09/2018 13:39

Private I do like Cibulkova, and at least she's seeded here...Grin

Marin regularly draws the short straw. It's not really fair. And I bet it will end up being a far more entertaining match than Federer against Millman . Or Djok and Sousa, which has the hallmarks of being a bit of walkover, if Djok is on form at all.

Goffin is quietly understated. I really enjoy watching him play because be crafts the point, as does Nishikori.
Cilic will probably get a lesser slot because he's not that entertaining - in the Anderson/Isner ilk, 80% serve, 19% banging the ground strokes, 1% everything else. Although I'll admit Cilic is the best of them. Isner obviously will get a better slot being US. Personally I think Goffin and Nishikori, perhaps even delPo should get better slots and relegate the likes of Rafa and Roger for a while. Though I know if Roger was playing I'd be damned annoyed if I'd for the highest price court and didn't get to see him. So I guess it's largely about assessing public demand.

PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 16:21

I like Goffin as well. I think that will be a good match b/c of the contrasting styles.

I think public demand is important but so is being fair to all the players. So for Cilic, or whoever gets through to the semi from that bit of the draw, they may not have a chance to play on Ashe before that and it puts them at a disadvantage, probably, once they face Federer, Djokovic or whoever.

JaneJeffer · 03/09/2018 16:38

I wonder if the majority of players care about what court they're on really?

PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 16:42

Yes maybe they don't. I think Kevin Anderson was asked about it and he wasn't that bothered!

Mama1980 · 03/09/2018 16:45

I don't think so really.....except Djokovic who seems to get grumpy when he's not on show courts.

magimedi · 03/09/2018 17:25

Have heard that Roger is less than happy if not on Centre @ Wimbledon.

Mama1980 · 03/09/2018 18:11

Kei is Erving for the match, it's been pretty dull.

Raahh · 03/09/2018 18:27

Shame about Kohlshreiber. Kei usually bores me He played some ok matches at Wimbledon, but I don't go out of my way to watch him. His match against Kyrgios there was the best i've seen him play on grass.

Keys definitely has the upperhand now. Cibulkova has not really got into this match.

Oh dear... Cibulkova lost. Well so much for my predictions. Maybe I should learn my lesson and not make any more?!

Didn’t watch any more tennis yesterday after Rafa so didn’t see Serena’s crazy outfit - I always think she looks quite uncomfortable in what she wears - it’s not usually suitable for playing tennis in.

Djokovic is on now but not that bothered about watching him.

Just been looking at the schedule for tomorrow - Delpo v Isner is on earlyish - I’ve not seen Delpo play yet. Hoping it’s not just going to be a slugfest.

Rafa and Thiem are on in the middle of the night which I’m quite pleased about - I’ll just find out the score when I wake up in the morning - much less stressful than actually watching Smile

PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 20:12

Thanks Fizzy - I'd expected Delpo to get another night match so I'm pleased it's during the day/evening here. Not that I really want to spend several hours on the edge of my seat... Hmm

PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 20:52

Hmm, what's up with Novak, is anyone else watching? Maybe it's just the heat?

He had a long bathroom break after the second set as well...

Raahh · 03/09/2018 20:52

Ooh- what is happening in the Djok match? 5 minutes ago, Novak was arguing with the Umpire, and now he's gone off court.

MajesticWhine · 03/09/2018 20:53

Medical evaluation...

Raahh · 03/09/2018 20:54

X post Private. Must be the heat. Or maybe he just fancied an off court massage.

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 20:55

Naked ice bath?!

PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 20:55

I forgot about Sousa's grunt...

MajesticWhine · 03/09/2018 20:56

Djok needs treatment for his unfortunate personality.

Raahh · 03/09/2018 20:56

Private possibly. Grin

I'm actually watching Osaka-Sabalenka (had just checked in on Novak briefly), Osaka has had a few match points, it's been really good.

Quite a shrieky match though...

PrivateParkin · 03/09/2018 20:58

Majestic!! How could you?! Grin
