Grin

I can't believe it's nearly September, really. I'm sure the Australian open has just finished. Grin

I'm going to spend the morning labelling school uniform . I really am.

I probably won't

The Swiss version of a slogan T-shirt?! Grin

Raahh · 31/08/2018 15:05

Private maybe Grin

I imagine there will be a mixed reception to Kyrgios when he plays Federer. Usually Fed matches (unless he's playing someone like Rafa) are very much dominated, crowd wise , by Roger fans. But there will be enough people watching who will have swallowed the whole 'Nick's so entertaining ' hype. Interesting also to see what knots the commentators tie themselves in- they will want to still big up Mr Box Office- but they want a Djok/Federer quarter final.

But last year, they hyped up a Rafa/Roger meeting in the semi's - and that didn't happen either. Because Roger lost to Delpo...

I’d like Federer to win anyway but definitely against Kyrgios. He isn’t entertaining; he’s just an immature man child. Think he’s about the same age as my stepson who is much more grown up Grin

MirandaWest · 31/08/2018 17:39

Have checked and maybe those few extra weeks that my stepson has on Kyrgios are what makes all the difference...

PrivateParkin · 31/08/2018 17:39

Yes will be interesting to see. Also I don't think he will try and shenanigans with Federer. Should be a good match.

Watching Azarenka v Stephens. Love Azarenka - and I love her outfit as well.

Not at all sure about this orange Nike has got loads of people wearing though...

MirandaWest · 31/08/2018 17:44

There is a bit too much orange going on

Raahh · 31/08/2018 17:53

Yy, the colours all around (adidas with their pink/red and nike with the orange- it's all very brightGrin).

I had hoped Azarenka could put up more of a fight here.

Yes me too. She is such a great player, it's such a shame what's happened to her, career-wise Sad

Fizzywinegum · 31/08/2018 18:31

Wish I could stay up all night and watch tennis as there are some great matches but will be happy to see Rafa (excited!)

Had anything else been said about Mohammed or do the USTA consider it dealt with now?

The tennis podcast was interesting - the woman (sorry don’t know her name but she’s very good) more or less said that she didn’t feel that he could continue as an umpire as what he did went so against what his role is supposed to be ie impartial.

Raahh · 31/08/2018 18:38

Fizzy I'm inclined to agree, about the the umpire, at the very least, being set aside for a while. I can't imagine what will happen at the next match he officiates at. The crowd might take against him.

I must admit, I get a bit Hmm by the power trip some of the umpires are on anyway. They are supposed to be impartial- and for the most part, invisible. They are not meant to be the 'stars'. The fact I know a lot about some of them (for all the wrong reasons) says they are maybe not doing a good job.

Azarenka has got more of a grip on this set- even if the service holds are a bit back and forth.

Would love to see Vika turn this around here.

Mama1980 · 31/08/2018 18:40

fizzy I agree though I also think how the crowd/players reacts to him next time he officiates will probably influence how or if he continues or not.

Raahh · 31/08/2018 18:40

oh no- I do not want Rafa to have to play under the roof.

The noise is bad enough as it is.

Great minds raahh Grin

Fizzywinegum · 31/08/2018 18:55

Yes I think the general consensus is that he’s a good guy - maybe he was trying to do what he thought was the right thing and was on a bit of a power trip as well who knows.

It does seriously make you wonder about his judgement though. Yes wIll be interesting to see how the crowd/players react to him if/when he next officiates.

Why might the roof be closed - is it raining?

I’ve broken the news to DH that Friday night will be spent watching (sleeveless) Rafa - he’s not happyGrin

Mama1980 · 31/08/2018 18:59

It's Raining I think fizzy

GrouchyKiwi · 31/08/2018 19:00

I like both Vika and Sloane Stephens so don't mind who wins this match, though it would be good to see Vika do well again.

Raahh · 31/08/2018 19:01

Fizzy yes, it's drizzling, according to Virginia. The roof is now closed.

It seems a lot quicker than the Wimbledon roof.

Oh- Vika seemed to be turning it around,Sad but Sloane has battled back.

OP posts:
Raahh · 31/08/2018 19:02

Ahh, sleeveless Rafa.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 31/08/2018 19:04

It looks as if there are more court choices to watch on Prime now rather than just the random “outside courts”

Raahh · 31/08/2018 19:05

If the rain has stopped, I hope they open the roof now.

Arghhhh- stop saying 'you guys'

And you were moaning about the noise the other day!!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 31/08/2018 19:09

Indeed Raahh - DH is hiding in the kitchen - I think he’s sulking Grin

Hopefully it will be a nice non stressful match.

GrouchyKiwi · 31/08/2018 19:10

Svitolina's shorts are upsetting me.

Raahh · 31/08/2018 19:14

I might miss the beginning few games, whilst I sort out dd2's bath. But it seems to take them a while to start things anyway.
