Grin

I can't believe it's nearly September, really. I'm sure the Australian open has just finished. Grin

I'm going to spend the morning labelling school uniform . I really am.

I probably won't

So not much a toddler but a puppy.

Fizzywinegum · 30/08/2018 19:13

Yes a very untrained one!

GrouchyKiwi · 30/08/2018 19:14

The female commentator on Kerber's match (is it Martina?) is getting so frustrated at Angelique's game plan. I'm finding it very amusing.

Raahh · 30/08/2018 19:16

ugh the towel thing! I get the rage when Isner sucks his shirt, too.

Maybe I'm just old.

And yy- lovely lingering shot of smiley happy Lendl before- I do like Ivan though. Grin

I have Virginia Wade commentating. I can't stand listening to Virginia Wade.

Me too Raahh - I think I like him because he’s grumpy Smile

Raahh · 30/08/2018 19:19

But I'm going back to Zverev in a bit. Living dangerously today- although it takes a good 3-5 minutes to get from match to match.

But that's an improvement on Monday when it was taking forever. Grin

Oh, I definitely relate to the miserable resting face, FIzzy. Grin

I've realised now that the sun isn't so sunny, that Kerber is wearing a top and skirt.

Just though I'd mention that.

It sounded like the male commentator called the lady Virginia but she's not British so I wonder if it's Virginia Ruzici (who I hadn't heard of before today but we share a birthday so she's obviously marvellous).

Raahh · 30/08/2018 19:36

Virginia Wade has a slight South African accent still, from living there as a child. But she is British.

I'm miffed now that, as expected, Kyrgios appears to have turned the match around.

I'd complain, if I was Herbert. The little chat was borderline coaching (in a 'pull yourself together ' way) and that isn't meant to be allowed.

Kerber finally takes it. The final set had some great tennis.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/08/2018 19:42

Ah, thanks Raahh.

Raahh · 30/08/2018 19:42

Well done Kerber!

I always wondered about her accent, Grouchy (because it kind of annoys meBlush), which is the only reason i know!

Foggy and his crazy outfits are out Sad

Raahh · 30/08/2018 20:22

And Mahut- in his last slam- but at least he got a chance to play.

Apparently the USTA is going to look into" the conduct of the umpire in the Kyrgios match Shock not sure if it was mentioned in commentary as I only saw the end, but I thought that was v interesting given all your comments!

Raahh · 30/08/2018 20:31

Private when watching it, they did kind of say they thought it was interesting, but really I felt it over stepped the mark. He's a well respected Umpire- but it really looked like (and I missed what ever happened just before the conversation) he had stepped in to prevent a total Kyrgios tanking situation- that seemed to be the gist of the 'pep talk' which is how the commentators described it. After it, Nick was a different player.

I believe, if he wanted to faff around, and lose, then they should have let him. They are still talking about it during the Ostapenko match- and the commentator there disagrees the umpire should have been involved. Kyrgios wasn't warned , he got a little motivational chat. A.k.a coaching. Hmm.

I mean- can you imagine Murray putting up with that? Wink(and they've shared a roller coaster).

Fizzywinegum · 30/08/2018 20:33

I didn’t see it either Private but it doesn’t sound like normal umpire behaviour. Surely not fair on his opponent.

JaneJeffer · 30/08/2018 20:35

Wonder which umpire it was? Kygrios is annoying me and I'm not even watching!

Raahh have you started an X Factor thread yet?

Raahh · 30/08/2018 20:36

Of course, it could be that the Umpire is part of a betting syndicate - and has placed bets on Kyrgios doing his tanking thing against Federer in the next round, and he was just protecting his investment.

I HAVE NO EVIDENCE TO BASE THIS ON OBVIOUSLY Grin

JaneJeffer · 30/08/2018 20:38

Ooh controversial!!
