Re: the explosion - although it is not the same as a bomb being detonated, I've been in a room when some idiot threw a firework in that then exploded. It was so loud we were deafened and had ringing in our ears for some time afterwards and it was shocking too. Took a while to establish everyone was okay and no one was otherwise injured. I can still see the flash when I think about it now and it was over 20 years ago.

FermatsTheorem · 03/09/2018 20:47

I'm with the PP who thought the explosion looked like it was front of house rather than in the wings of the stage. (That could be because I've got a soft spot for beardy aide and don't want him to turn out to be a bad guy).

I'm tempted to do a parking-thread-style diagram of the incident.

CodLiverOil556 · 03/09/2018 20:53

@Piggywaspushed his PTSD has never been disclosed otherwise no he wouldn't be clears for that role

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2018 20:53

Oh fermat please do!! Grin

Surely, if Julia had beena victim of an asasination attempt , there would be snipers everywhere?? To protect her. Not kill her (again)

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2018 20:53

assassination...

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2018 20:55

I know that kermit : their powers of detection are woeful in those corridors of power!!

It was implied he tried to strangle his wife before wasn't it?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 03/09/2018 20:57

I've just realised who Slash Dave reminds me of with his steely focus and fancy hair.

Piggy here it is. I had to download some software specially, but I think you will agree the end result is positively professional quality.

tribpot · 03/09/2018 21:03

First screenshot is of the guy who appears in the wings just before the bomb goes off - there is some sudden 'scary' music when he comes into shot. We never see who it is, could easily not be Tahir.

Second is of the first shot of the bomb, going off at the front of the stage, it doesn't look like it went off in the wings.

Third is the second shot we see of the bomb, whilst facing the stage.

That is amazing - well done! I do hope Jed is on this thread. I think he would love that.

I did once claim to be Jed on a LoD thread. I may well be

On a feminist point of order though fermat , we don't say WPC anymore. This is not PC. If you get my drift. Grin

tribpot · 03/09/2018 21:07

Fermats I think SlashDave and Cockney PC were on the other side of the bang, as it looks as if Slash was blown into the audience. He certainly had to climb up on to the stage to see how Julia was, whereas if he'd been on the stage side of where the bomb went off, I'd expect him to have been blown on to the stage. He seems be in among the audience but also looking for someone who's got a working radio to call the incident in.

I knew someone would pick me up on that one Wink - spent last night watching Hot Fuzz (wanders off muttering "police man officer" or was it "police officer man"?)

FermatsTheorem · 03/09/2018 21:11

tribpot - my memory was at fault - constructed the EPIC diagram before seeing the screenshot.

DickensianHysteric · 03/09/2018 21:12

Bravo Fermats, I think that's the best diagram I've ever seen on here. Grin

actualpuffins · 03/09/2018 21:17

Did anyone notice Julia/Lavender change her speech herself in the car? Unity crossed out and replaced with leadership. Is this significant?

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2018 21:19

Just shows her ego. It caused a 'frisson' when she said it. Leadership bid etc....

actualpuffins · 03/09/2018 21:21

I thought it might be something to do with the difference versions of the speech in the briefcase. The version in the briefcase we got a snapshot of seemed to say "leadership" already in the same place.

diddl · 03/09/2018 21:26

Wonder if his wife's new boyfriend might be relevant at all?

EvilRingahBitch · 03/09/2018 22:06

Lavender’s repeated references to “leadership” were a coded “the PM is weak and should totally step down in favour of a better leader like me”, and the politics-steeped audience recognised it immediately - hence the muttering.

I’m baffled by what the security services are up to. They gave her the incriminating documents, and seemed to be up to their armpits with her, but were then furious about her trip to Chequers. So the “they gave her the dirt on the PM so that she could oust him” theory seems unlikely. It’s possible that they gave her the dirt on someone else in the hope that she’d blackmail him, and were surprised that she told the PM? Surely the dirt can’t be on her ex the Chief Whip can it? Presumably she’d know if he was an alcoholic coke fiend and sexual harasser? Confused

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2018 22:07

Maybe the files were actually the dirt they have on her?

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/09/2018 22:13

What a fab episode. I confess I watched towie
And recorded this

Tho meant I could keep rewinding any scenes aka bomb scene

Rob is def dodgy but don't think he did the bomb to kill Julia - just wanted to dis credit her with the speech

Coz she blew him out at dinner

Bomb - I don't think it was the female Kim / I think she saw something and ran to stop

Julia's ex hubby is a conniving sod. He's prob behind the leaks

Tahir is being set up :(

I don't think a bomb in the briefcase

In the bedroom would she really stick her fingers down her knickers

The encrypted pad was silly. Would you really leave password and pad together

So she was reading about someone who took cocaine and raped someone ....

Who was the girls name on the file

The bomb. They said the room has been searched twice. Assume all the people has been. So maybe the late reporter had a bomb ?

DoryNow · 03/09/2018 22:23

Graphista Thanks re ballistics, interesting!

Thanks to Tribs excellent screen capture shots surely the source of the bomb is in the front about where late arrival girl/journo was?

tribpot · 03/09/2018 22:23

It was Charlotte Foxfield, Blondes.

The person referred to in the sexual assault file was a 'he' but that doesn't mean the dossier as a whole definitely wasn't about her.

Pam Ayres I think has summed it up well with her two verse poem here and here.
