Maybe Cavy - at least that would explain it as I didn't get that.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 12/08/2018 23:00

JFC - MNHQ HAVE ASKED FOR A LINE TO BE DRAWN AND FOR THE THREAD TO MOVE ON.

STOP MERAILING IT

If you want a thread about how "hard done by" you've been tonight go and start one in AIBU.

YABU.

WhirlwindHugs · 12/08/2018 23:01

Aunt Lydia was terrifying despite the fact she genuinely likes babies. I'm quite curious about the other aunts, we've seen all the female job-roles (that's not the right word! But... Anyway) rebel in one way or another except the aunts.

I liked the ending.

I'm June's shoes... I don't know. I think Emily being there might have felt like a sign. Emily will keep her baby safe and knows enough about June to make sure Holly will be reunited with her family in Canada.

She has to go back for Hannah. Hannah is so much older than Holly she will be married off in a few years, June has absolutely no way of getting Hannah out from the outside... You have to take every chance.

I'm hoping she won't go back to the Waterford's though. I really think Fred will have June killed if he finds her again. The baby brought him status and now he's lost it.

Thanks to the people who warned about spoilers I saw those messages in the preview and avoided the thread until it had finished.

CageyBee · 12/08/2018 23:01

Serena being mutilated shows that no one is exempt so ladies- know your place. All the more reason for the women to rise up. But as they all left Serena, the reality of this is debatable. It’s the same situation if you try and stand up to something and people agree with you but won’t back you when it comes to the crunch. The issues in this book/ series happen now just much more low-key.

WillowDogs · 12/08/2018 23:01

Roussette I haven't once said I didn't get it I was merely trying to think of others.

CruCru · 12/08/2018 23:01

Ah, just caught up with the last two episodes - we've had houseguests and I hadn't been able to watch episode 12 until today. Thanks for the new thread!

I see that some people have posted spoilers. I'm glad I missed those.

I'm sad that June didn't go to Canada with Emily.

TiredPony · 12/08/2018 23:02

God that was tense! I spent most of it with my hands over my face, holding my breath!

It wasn't as tight as other episodes to be fair. At least - Emily stabbing AL then getting whisked away just as June was escaping was one example of how far fetched it was but it is what it is. As soon as June took the photo out I knew she would stay. I think it would be really interesting if she works underground from the inside, she'll still be in a gilded cage to stop her being seen but at least she can be of use. What a cliffhanger!

MazDazzle · 12/08/2018 23:02

Serena seemed to recover remarkably well from having her finger chopped off!

And what was in the white drawstring bag that Fred instructed Offred to take upstairs?

User5trillion · 12/08/2018 23:02

That's the point isnt it, the rules only apply to some people and certainly not women. He is so ingrained in his privilege it doesn't even twig the unbalance. This is only over 5 yrs or so. He could have been secretly like this before but society wouldn't have deemed it ok.

BlueSkyBurningBright · 12/08/2018 23:02

I missed the message June wrote on the wall. What did she say?

inquiquotiokixul · 12/08/2018 23:02

Now that I've seen the episode I'm curious about exactly what Cinderella posted. Happily I managed not to read any of her actual posts till they were deleted but she completely spoiled the enjoyment of participating in a live thread as I had to put the phone down once I knew the thread was contaminated. Was it a complete description of the ending? What about the dozens of other posts after that? Just wondering.

HannahnotAgnes · 12/08/2018 23:02

The be honest Willow, i'd avoid someone like you in real life, so it wouldn't be an issue.

Just watching the scene with Serena again - first truly maternal thing she has done. Still feel sorry for her (despite her being a fucker & a rapist!).

Roussette · 12/08/2018 23:02

And I'm not bullying you Willow I am patiently explaining to you more than once how live telly threads work! This is normal!

As far as ALydia... surely she's copped it. She had a knife sticking out her back

MazDazzle · 12/08/2018 23:03

I assumed that AL getting stabbed triggered the whole thing? That nick & the Marthas has this plan ready to go when the moment was right and CL gave it the red light after AL got stabbed in his property.

inquiquotiokixul · 12/08/2018 23:04

@BlueSkyBurningBright she wrote nolite bastardes te carbundorum (don't let the bastards get you down) which is the secret message scratched in the wardrobe by the previous handmaid.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 12/08/2018 23:04

@BlueSkyBurningBright it was Nolite Bastardes Carborundum again

(Don't let the Bastards get you down)

MazDazzle · 12/08/2018 23:04

Cinderella announced she was going to spoil it, then posted numerous posts detailing what happened.

CageyBee · 12/08/2018 23:04

Mazdazzle I think it was the Bible.

WillowDogs · 12/08/2018 23:04

How do you even know what I'm like? From one comment on a thread? How narrow minded are you?

You'd avoid someone in real life for defending against name calling? For trying to diffuse an argument? For thinking of others?

Banquosghost · 12/08/2018 23:05

The message she scratched on the wall was "Nolite te bastardes carborundum" - the same message inscribed in the book in Waterford's study and scratches into the inside of the cupboard by the previous handmaid

User5trillion · 12/08/2018 23:05

Dont let the bastards grind you down in latin - as it had said in the cupboard.

Fred has to be fucked now. He cant even control his house. He didnt seem very well respected to start off with so this must be the final nail

WitchSharkadder · 12/08/2018 23:06

Blue June write Nolites te bastardes carborundorum.

kashleesi · 12/08/2018 23:06

I did wonder though, what’s so special about June? As in, no one is trying to save janine and she also had a baby she wants to escape with. Is it just that nick is in a position to organise it?

Banquosghost · 12/08/2018 23:06

I'm almost 50 but have a sudden yearning to get a tshirt printed with the words "Fuck you, Fred" Smile
(Sorry to bring the tone down)

WillowDogs · 12/08/2018 23:07

Roussette I know how the live thread works. Still don't feel like it's justified to be told to fuck off or anything since.
