Why didn't Liz McD post the insurance claim form in the letter box behind her when she left her house, or did she do it so quickly that I missed it?

I think Vera is a brilliant character, totally credible and wonderfully acted.

Classic Corrie seems so innocent somehow, reflective of a slower era, before mobile phones and the internet. It is so much better than the current CS which I have given up watching, as the plot lines get sillier and sillier. A lot of overt sexism in CC though which makes me cringe, although the CS women have always been strong independent types who can take care of themselves.

Ooh Fred Elliot ,I can't wait ,Willy squeaky voiced Ashley also be starting?

x2boys · 21/09/2019 12:44

Will*

ConfCall · 21/09/2019 14:07

Ashley - yes I think so. And Maxine shortly afterwards.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 21/09/2019 17:36

You've made me wonder think about Ashley's willy now! Blush

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 22/09/2019 08:48

I'll be interested to see if Ashley was qute so squeaky when he started. We all know that Racquel was quite feisty and plain speaking when she first arrived in Corrie, but was reduced to a simpering halfwit.

x2boys · 22/09/2019 09:04

When does Deirdre go to.Morocco and meet the lovely Samir that can't be far off surely

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 22/09/2019 13:57

I seem to remember reading that Raquel was originally intended to become the street bitch - but Sarah Lancashire objected strongly, and insisted that Raquel's character be changed to make her more likeable.

That, presumably, is where the newly-introduced Tanya comes in!

She turns out to be a proper bitch.

ConfCall · 22/09/2019 14:09

Tanya’s brilliantly written and acted. Looking forward to her storylines.

I’m looking forward to Alec’s return too. I really like him and Bet together.

And Vicky and Steve’s big storyline is imminent.....on that note.... not sure what the policy is re spoilers in this thread. I know it’s nearly thirty years old but some of us will have forgotten things or will have been too young to watch it originally.

x2boys · 22/09/2019 14:31

When does Fiona come into it properly ,the salon has been open for nearly a year now and she only gets the odd line .

justthecat · 22/09/2019 14:38

I don’t remember Vicky and Steve’s big story line ! 😲

Redglitter · 22/09/2019 14:49

I dont think you can really call things spoilers when you're watching a repeat of a series.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 22/09/2019 16:11

justthecat - I do remember it!

But I'm not going to spoil it for you.....Wink

justthecat · 22/09/2019 16:41

Ha ha, I’m that sad ... I googled it ! 😁

justthecat · 24/09/2019 15:49

Colin in his shorts is not a pretty sight

BlingADingDing · 24/09/2019 16:28

Vera walkong into the rovers, then straight out again to 'spot' the ambulance 😄

x2boys · 24/09/2019 17:41

Yes I would have thought Colin would have looked better in shorts tbh 😏,Yes it was like Vera had never seen an ambulance before!

justthecat · 24/09/2019 17:53

Maybe it was something to do with them being pulled up so far near his armpits 😱

x2boys · 24/09/2019 18:03

They were very short,shorts Hmm

StephenKing · 25/09/2019 09:56

I have been on holiday and only just caught up on all my episodes!

Whats the deal with Joe and the cottage in the lakes, does he just want to have Sally for himself? I did watch at the time but I cannot remember.

and when does Sally get pregnant with Sophie? and is she Joes! Grin

and when do Denise and Ken get together? (shudders)

x2boys · 25/09/2019 11:08

I can't remember wether anything happens with Joe and Sally ,?.I don't think Sophie is Joe,s but maybe that could be a whole new modern day storyline Shock ? I think she gets pregnant with Sophie in 1994.

ConfCall · 27/09/2019 23:03

I don’t remember Joe at all. I also can’t recall the Brendan Scott storyline or who buys the shop, and I don’t remember Colin or the Queens. It’s weird, because I was at university at the time, living with flatmates, and we definitely watched it whilst preparing to go out! Maybe I drank too much Mad Dog.

Angie mentioned having parents in Canterbury - I thought that was Flic.

Casual sexism from Kevin - commenting that if Joe remarries, he won’t need a childminder for Jonathan any more. And the whistling and salivating over Mrs Scott in the Rovers - so grim.

x2boys · 28/09/2019 07:50

Ha ha Con mad dog! I do vaguely remember Joe ,but that's probably because I didn't start my nurse training until the September of 93 and moved away from home int I uni accommodation , ( we were affiliated to a university) and I think I vaguely remember Brendan Scott but don't remember his ,wife,Sally made me Hmmwhen she said it they don't have another baby soon they will to old ,how old are her and Kevin in classic corrie ,mid to late 20,s?

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 28/09/2019 13:12

x2boys I bet you were at Lancaster, weren't you!

A friend of mine trained there in the early 1980s

x2boys · 28/09/2019 14:44
