Last thread is nearly full.

Why are Jack and Vera expected to pay for Lisa's funeral? Her parents are both still alive and well and earn money I assume.

Redglitter · 08/08/2019 17:00

They're not. Big gobbed Vera insisted on it incase people looked down on them for not paying. Makes no sense

justthecat · 09/08/2019 15:16

Andys ponytail 🤔

HelloGabriel · 09/08/2019 20:12

I'm probably completely imaging it, but Neil's accent sounds different around Denise than it does around Angie Confused

ConfCall · 13/08/2019 21:54

I’d completely forgotten about Mrs Grimes!

Good to see “One Cal” on the supermarket shelves. So popular back in the day.

I remember Vicky’s friend referring to Honkers. It’s one of the things that’s stuck in my mind from those days.

Is this the start of the failure of the MacDonalds’ marriage? Jim seems so resentful of Liz’s three week (!) promotion, but she’s really excited.

Iwantacampervan · 21/08/2019 15:19

The water bed!

justthecat · 21/08/2019 15:38

Am I right in thinking Don gets obsessed with Denise?

Liverbird77 · 21/08/2019 15:46

Yes I think he does. He is creepy AF. I actually feel so sorry for Ivy.
The water bed is so iconic. That closing shot of the white shoes!

ConfCall · 21/08/2019 16:05

The Don/Denise storyline was brilliantly written and acted.

Lynne Petrie claims in her (very candid!) autobiography that Geoff Hinsliff wanted his character to have a relationship with a younger cast member’s character, and made a snide remark about how he viewed himself as sexier than he was. In the end, the writers decided to go down the obsession route rather than relationship.

ConfCall · 21/08/2019 16:05

Perrie not Petrie

justthecat · 21/08/2019 16:38

Thanks Liverbird, Yh Don is already creeping me out!

Liverbird77 · 22/08/2019 15:13

Bet is being totally unreasonable towards Liz. It's like she thinks she shouldn't be wanting better for herself by becoming a landlady

justthecat · 26/08/2019 15:03

Blimey it was only a couple of weeks ago they were trying to portray Doug as some sort of sex god, he’s more like a caveman now

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 28/08/2019 17:33

Am I the only one who felt really sorry for Percy when Mrs Clarke rejected him so cruelly?

She must have the emotional intelligence of a house brick if she couldn't read the signs and realise what was in Percy's heart.

It was so sad.

justthecat · 28/08/2019 17:50

She was a lot nicer to him than he is to poor Phyllis !

ConfCall · 28/08/2019 20:03

I reckon she was trying to protect his feelings by pretending to think he was pranking.

Odd to propose to someone you’ve known for about six weeks.

If Phyllis posted on AIBU she’d be told to stop making a fool of herself.

SapatSea · 30/08/2019 10:33

Is that the end of the dreadful Neil? Certainly hope so.
Denise looked dreadful in that nasty dress and stupid hairdo/wig pieces It's all got a bit silly atm

I didn't like the Des/Derek war first time round and not enjoying now either.

I can't understand Angie being nice to Denise, I feel Denise is quite manipulative. Why did she accept a drink from Neil, was she hoping to make Hanif a bit jealous? I also think it's out of character for Angie to have put up with so much crap from Neil. He wasn't even attractive.

justthecat · 30/08/2019 10:55

Totally agree about Neil and Denise walking into Rovers thinking she was all glam 🤔

x2boys · 01/09/2019 19:13

I would have thought Neil was good looking when I was younger, you wouldn't put Neil and Denise together at all ,she has a very eclectic taste in men considering who her next bit romance is going to be with... I have said it before on this thread but Percy is the image of my Grandad,my Grandad is long dead now but he was never very happy when he was told how like Percy he was 😂,he was also a cook in the second world war,and was also full of war stories

SapatSea · 01/09/2019 21:47

Your poor grandad Grin My dad looked like Alan Bradley, he wasn't best pleased when people ribbed him about that either.

I agree about Denise's next conquest, she goes from one age extreme to t'other.

Liverbird77 · 02/09/2019 15:17

Percy and Emily in the car with Bryan Ferry blasting!

EmilyBishopmyconfession · 04/09/2019 23:57

Anyone else notice a very young looking Steve Halliwell (Zak Dingle in Emmerdale) as the barman in Liz McDonald's new pub The Queens?

Anna Friel has also recently been in both classic Corrie and classic Emmmerdale as a young teenager.

EmilyBishopmyconfession · 05/09/2019 00:01

Fast forward to 14m20s to see a very youthful Zak

x2boys · 05/09/2019 06:58

Yeah I noticed him he was also in it a while ago counting votes when Alf Roberts became Consellor, an ex of my sister's was an extra in the 90,S I don't think he ever got a big break but I have spotted him a few times in Classic Corrie it always amuses me 😂

SapatSea · 05/09/2019 10:19

Betty from Emmerdale (as Vivienne, a councillor friend of Alf's) was in an episode last week, Steve halliwell was also in that one.

Big man, Jim McD is a swine, so he is.

Audrey has really changed over the years, what a gossipy, sh*t stirrer and manipulator she used to be.

Don made my skin crawl first time round, same again. Run, Denise!
