Ken Morley (Reg) lives not far from me.

I used to cat-sit (and mind the house) for a dear friend whose back garden fence bordered onto his garden.

It was too high for me to have a nosey see over, but I often heard his children playing in the garden. He had a huge pink American car aswell.

The kind of enormous American 1950s convertible that Texan oil barons would have. Cadillac, maybe?

Not sure if it had the big white Steer horns on the front bumper, though!

Apparently he was a very nice, considerate neighbour.

Which programme is classic corrie on so I can record? I can then relive my youth. I can remember watching the first episode in 1960.

I wonder if they get any money for it.

It's on itv 3 early every morning and mid afternoon. We are just in January 91

Does anyone else hate Mark? He's horrible!

I’m getting really bored of the repetitive Mavis and Derek story lines. It’s probably just the compressed time but it feels like we’ve gone straight from the budgie switch to the non holiday/break in to the Angela business, but each one is basically the same. A spanner gets thrown in the works of the Wilton’s lives, Mavis massively overreacts, falls out with Derek, wafts around the street flapping and wailing like a nightie on a washing line in a storm while Rita plays the Greek chorus commenting on goings from behind the counter at the Kabin.

I agree HelloGabriel Mark is such a creep. His attitude to women stinks, as does Des, saying he hoped that Mark would give her a good hiding, even Angie warned Jenny she might get a slap. I don't recall those being prevalent attitudes at the time.

Bluths I'm also a bit bored of Derek/Mavis. I didn't see many of these episodes first time around as I got bored of them and the awful Curly and Reg Holdsworth . Kev can't act, can he, he just shouts a lot. Martin Platt actor is better than I recall, he seems quite natural and a decent guy (atm).

It all seems a bit rudderless story wise at the moment, especially after the wonderful scenes with Ken/Deirdre/Wendy Crozier we had a while back.

I think Martin. was supposed to be a decent Guy albeit a womaniser , hes ten years younget than Gail i think he enjoys the whole family set up for a while .....

Sarah Lancashire was asked last year if she'd ever return to Corrie. She said she wouldn't because "the show I was in doesn’t exist any more.” How true .

I am away so can't watch at the moment. What happened about Kevin losing his job?

Kev did lose his job and his customer wants the full £1200 repair bill. Sally is crying and Kev is shouting as the customer won't accept their plan of £400 upfront and £10 a week and is threatening court. Kev has got a new job in a tyre and exhaust place where he isn't utilising all his skills and gets paid a lot less than Casey's.

Kev's customer looked familiar- then I realised 8th was George Jackson from Brookie. Raquel seems to speak normally at the moment. It'll be interesting to see when she starts to simper.

I thought the most shocking thing about Kevs predicament was that there was a letter By SECOND post imagine a time when there were two postal deliveries before lunch

Sally has aged well hasn't she, along with Gail and Audrey. Martin Platt visited son David about a year ago in the current series and I couldn't believe how much he had aged!

cloudy i was just coming on the thread to say the same thing. Racquel didnt have the silly simpering voice in these episodes.

Sarah Lancashire is a wonderfully talented actress I think. I loved her in Last Tango in Halifax.

She is. I remember all the Des Barnes stuff from 1995 and knew she'd go far when she eventually left.

I don't know why Curly is so obsessed with Kimberley as he didn't want to get engaged in the first place.

He would be out of a job pretty quickly , even in the early 90,s for behaving the way he does at work, what kind of rights did people have back than? For example Mark just saclex zzKevin np suspension or anything

I think Kev could have been sacked for gross misconduct as he did some of the "foreigners" using the garage equipment, heat light, premises etc. Also wouldn't the guy who let Kev drive his car (that got smashed) not have a leg to stand on legally. He let Kev take the car without checking he had insurance to drive it, so would he (the customer) not be at fault. It's weird Kev calls his private jobs "foreigners" when I was growing up doing that was called doing a "homer"

Agree, Curly would be sacked for behaving as he did. It was ridiculous!! He is seriously creepy.

I don't remember this version of Raquel from when I watched it the first time round!

She's a sassy, confident, down-to-earth woman.

I wonder whose idea it was to turn her into the character she later becomes - the slightly naive and vulnerable airhead.
