So, classic Eastenders starts airing on the UKTV Drama channel from tomorrow! Two episodes from noon, and they’ll also be on UKTV catchup.

Use this thread to talk about Den, Angie, Arthur, poodle perms, poor fashion choices and Ethel’s Willy.

What happened to today's episodes ? My planner seemed to record the same episode twice Confused was it just me?

Limer · 17/09/2019 17:38

No help, but I got both of today's episodes recorded with no problem x2boys I'm on Sky.

x2boys · 17/09/2019 18:17

Im.on virgin media ,maybe it's just me than !Smile

Limer · 24/09/2019 14:39

I'm liking the episodes about poor Ian's breakdown and the general chaos around the Square! Everything just seems to be more interesting than a few weeks ago.

Had to laugh at Dot today, "Well, to be perfectly frank, Frank..."

pinkchampagne1 · 24/09/2019 16:23

Shows how quickly we are getting through episodes when a year back we were watching Pauline pregnant with Martin & now he's started school!

x2boys · 24/09/2019 17:46

Should Vickie not be starting school.too.,didn't she turn 4 a few months ago well a few months in classic Eastenders time ? I know we are going through episodes fast ,but Mo,s decline into dementia is extraordinarily fast .

x2boys · 26/09/2019 08:28

Pete's annoying me with all the Beale,s and Fowlers nonsense I know he's upset with Wicksey and Cindy but not sure why he's taking it out on Frank.Hmm When Michelle was tending to Mark's burnt hands ,would Mark not be concerned about open wounds and his HIV status ,I know we are a lot more knowledgeable these days about the transmission and times have moved on tremendously in terms of treatment etc but in 1990 there was still.a lot of ignorance and fear about HIV .

Limer · 26/09/2019 14:52

I don't get the family feud stuff either. I think the scriptwriters are always trying to make something of the supposed community spirit and family loyalties, Lou was always banging on about family and now Pete & Pauline are doing the same.

Mark's HIV status seems to have been temporarily forgotten - I can't believe nobody would ask him about his health, given he's been away for so long.

Did anyone else get the announcement at the end of the 2nd episode today that "due to circumstances beyond our control we are unable to show the next episode so will be skipping one episode"? Wonder what that was all about? Did someone who's now persona non grata make an appearance/get mentioned - Jimmy Saville, Gary Glitter, etc.??? Or have they just deleted the recording by accident Grin

Sux2buthen · 26/09/2019 15:20

This keeps happening. I looked it up and apparently there are episodes they just can't find or don't have anymore so they skip them.

x2boys · 26/09/2019 15:49

Yeah Sux is right it's happened a few times .

Limer · 26/09/2019 20:05

I usually click Stop as soon as the credits roll, today I didn't and heard the announcement. I know I've thought I must've missed an episode or two in the past, maybe this is why!

Hopefully nothing critical to the plot happens in the lost episodes!

x2boys · 26/09/2019 20:16

I can see why you thought it might be something sinister though I was half watching an old episode of Benidorm once and they played one of Rolf Harris,s hits and mentiobed him I think it was on the day or very near to the day he was found guilty( which was very unfortunate for the channel showing it ) ,they didn't show the plus 1_episode as Someone must have realised !

x2boys · 28/09/2019 08:03

Pete,s just awful isn't he ,he wouldn't just be asked to leave a he restaurant these days ,he would probably be charged with assault!

Limer · 01/10/2019 15:48

Yes, Pete’s a proper thug in all respects. Can’t stand him.

The fireworks party looked a bit dangerous! Beginning of November already, it’ll be Christmas again by the end of next week Grin

What’s up with Diane? Mark manhandles her during an argument and she asks him to give her a kiss?

Poor Mo’s definitely going downhill fast, even though we’re seeing a week pass by every day.

Sux2buthen · 01/10/2019 17:47

Mo's been played really well I think. She's a great actress.
I don't remember Grant being as dim as he is at the moment. They must have developed his character a lot over time

Limer · 02/10/2019 18:21

Yes, I think Phil's supposed to be the brains and Grant the brawn of the Mitchells. With Sam having the looks, of course Grin

Thought I had mistakenly recorded The Bill today! WTF was all that stuff about Eddie's previous police career? With policemen that the viewers knew nothing about and crimes we'd never heard of?

x2boys · 02/10/2019 19:34

Yes the Eddie ,stuff is somewhat dull isn't it?HmmThey have some really good storylines and then this rubbish ,I recognised some Bill.actors too.

Sux2buthen · 02/10/2019 20:22

I'm watching now and fast forwarding the police bits.

x2boys · 02/10/2019 20:38

There wasent much other than the police nonsense .

x2boys · 04/10/2019 12:57

Why have Pauline and Arthur only just got a phone ? It was 1990, not 1960 everybody had a phone from what I remember? I was born in 1973 my parents had a phone from as long as I could remember .

Sux2buthen · 04/10/2019 13:53

I did have a laugh at the comedy side of Pauline loving the phone in the end Grin

x2boys · 04/10/2019 21:05

I think Mo,s dementia crisis has been a bit to fast even considering how fast classic eastenders moves but it's been quite good I worked in Dementia care for quite a while irl it would be more like a few years rather than a few months but I can see why they moved it on quite quickly

Limer · 07/10/2019 17:30

Tinsel everywhere, it's nearly Christmas again!

Why was Arthur so happily working and signing on, with his criminal record? Very out of character and very contrived to get him onto that special scheme!

So was it Ian who framed Simon and lost him both jobs? In order to get Simon to work for him? Just seems weird, or is this the start of some massive plan for revenge on his part?

x2boys · 07/10/2019 17:44

I.think.it's part of Ian,s plan to "ruin " Simon as it were ,I'm finding Ian increasingly irritating ,yeah I know he,s been hurt etc ,but he's just being spiteful and if he loved Steven as much as he says he does ,he wouldn't want him to suffer ,as he would if his parents were penniless .This thing with Pete and Jason is it bit weird ,if it was in today,s world there would be concerns that Pete,s intentions were less than honourable

x2boys · 09/10/2019 17:19

When Etta said they would be so.squeaky clean they ( Kofi,s other Grandparents) would think they were the Cosby,s ,Oh the irony ....
